Excellent Trilogy for every action movie enthusiast!
I had seen these movies a couple of times on regular TV over the years, but with all the commercial interuptions, I needed to see the full versions. If you like action, with believable hero characters, this is the set for you. Despite the age of these movies, the plots were realistic, and quite current. The first two are definitely my favorites among the three. The video quality was also very good.

1 is a classic.2 is not bad.3 is just wrong....I might try again, but I don't know if they should have done that one...

Great HD video and audio transfer especially for such old films...don't listen to uninformed reviews.
Maybe I'm missing something but I found this Robocop Blu-ray collection looks and sounds very good compared to other similar movie transfers from the 80s. It's definitely 1080p and not some "upscaled DVD" transfer. I have theΒ Alien Anthology [Blu-ray ],Β Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Skynet Edition) [Blu-ray ] as well asΒ Blade Runner (Five-Disc Complete Collector's Edition) [Blu-ray ] and this Robocop set compares favorably to those transfers. Yes the first movie does have SOME grain...DUH...given that it was originally filmed on...gasp...FILM and not some digital HD rig! In fact the grain isn't even that big of a deal considering that some modern films have MORE ARTIFICIAL grain added than this movie. As for the sound the main track is encoded via lossless DTS-HD MA!For the price I paid..less than $6 per disc and free shipping I have no reason to even think about complaining. I'm so glad I didn't fall for the uninformed negative reviews and just went ahead and ordered this set. Given that I also own the Robocop DVD set...there's just NO WAY you could upscale those low resolution transfers and end up with the great quality on this Blu-ray set. To do a proper review you need to have seen or own the DVD set AND you need to own a native 1080p TV and have it receive 1080p output from a Blu-ray player. A computer with a Blu-ray drive connected to a native 1080p display is acceptable too.Oh and one final note, I think the people who said the video quality looks exactly like the DVD are either blind or they erroneously watched the first couple of minutes on the first film and thought that was the actual quality of the entire film...LOL! For those who do not know the first couple of minutes is supposed to look blurry and low quality due to the fact it's supposed to be footage of a "TV broadcast"...

MGM doesn't apply much effort to improve on some of their Blu-Ray releases, do they?
I already have the Robocop Trilogy on DVD. I bought this blu-ray version of the box set because I was expecting to see an improved High Definition re-master. And it's not. This transfer to Blu-Ray looks no better than the DVD's. So, it's a waste of money, isn't it?So, I've done a little research of some of my other re-purchased films on to Blu-ray (from MGM) and I've noticed that they too, were disappointments to me as a blu-ray transfer. So, I know now: If it's released by MGM, it won't be any better than the DVD. MGM just doesn't seem to care WHY we would re-purchase our favorite movies on to Blu-ray.The first Robocop in this box set is the same 2007 release. They didn't even bother to change the brownish artwork of the disc to match the other two movies bluer artwork. And of course, there are no extras on any of these discs. With the HDMI cable I had with my older regular DVD player, many of my regular DVD's were greatly improved in picture quality. So, it's proving to be very few and far between that a Blu-ray reissue of a film is actually going to look any better. Some do. I have about 75 Blu-Ray discs now, and only about 45 of them look greatly improved. (When I buy the Blu-Ray, I compare them right away, side by side, Blu-Ray against the DVD, with my two TV's in my den) I guess some movies can't be helped, while some other movies were great masters from the start so no re-mastering effort would be required.I outta just re-cellophane this Robocop Blu-Ray and give it to somebody for Christmas because my DVD's are just as good anyway. I hope they will apply somewhat of a better effort to improve all the James Bond films onto Blu-Ray.UPDATE: I've just recently bought a new 47" LCD TV. Maybe this was a mistake because it is NOW that I see a great improvement of my Blu-Ray DVD's over my regular DVD's. So, I guess the only way that I can continue enjoying my regular DVD's is to keep watching my DVD's only on my 32" LCD TV with the HDMI hook-up because at 32 inches, DVD's look very much like High Definition. On the 47" TV, regular DVD's just don't look that good.

great deal
as a whole, they may not be the best quality and the third movie really isn't worth any interest, but this is still an incredible deal

1ST is the best, then downhill.
Review of the trilogy and there are many variants out there as this is a very popular franchise and in the main hugely entertaining (despite my header). With lockdown I've been catching up with old box sets over the months and if you like futuristic sci-fi action there is much here to entertain you.In the box set the original 'Robocop' comes with a theatrical version and a Director's Cut of Paul Verhoeven's original before he was forced to snip away some of the excessively violent scenes. Nevertheless all three films contain plenty of violence, just that censorship bodies would like to dilute somebody else's vision of what are acceptable levels of violence. If I continue on a personal level the first film does have that certain element that makes it infinitely more watchable than most in the genre ---- pathos. Peter Weller's performance is outstanding and like Arnie in a later 'Terminator' film an audience could readily sympathize with the machine such is the cleverness and strength of the script where even dialogue spoken in a robotic voice can win friends, with just a few words such as " I'm Murphy " in this film. Action and violence alone cannot be entertaining for me, 'Robocop' has plenty of characters that add to the enjoyment of the spectacle and this has exemplary special effects and tongue-in-cheek humour that always ensures that the film doesn't take itself too seriously.'Robocop 2' is not a bad follow up but does lack that pathos built in the original and that opening was never used to make the film entertaining, in my view. Much more by the numbers in action and violence and with a silly very youthful villain (a boy) that emerged that just didn't fit. Again my view only.'Robocop 3' is the weakest with Weller absent. In all honesty cant think of much to say about it except that if you want completeness you need the film for your collection.3 discs, all three have English subtitles for the hearing impaired, and disc 1 with the original film comes with shed loads of extras as well as the Director's Cut.

YOUR MOVE CREEP!!
I have just watched all three "original" Robocop movies, and like many trilogy's etc the reaction's for each movie decrease. Robocop is by far the better of the three, although the shortest at 99 mins. Like Superman 2, Robocop 2 is a very descent sequel almost besting it's predecessor. Robocop 3 is just a throw away movie, it's just ok.The trilogy on a whole is brilliant, especially for a Robocop fan.

Only for the sake of first episode
The first part of the trilogy is the one to watch. Cinematography and plot is at its best, although the robotics and vFX are out-dated, the scenario is coherent and gripping. A movie that can be watched relentlessly. The Bluray quality may not be the best but for the price it is better than the DVD. No extras included, only a trailer included on each of the Blurays. The second episode is not very bad, still having some strong points and tries to continue where the first one ended, however, poor compared to first. For the third part, the only thing I can say is, it is similar to "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace", if you see what I mean...
