PC Software fix
HiThis PSU seems very good but the software looks like its written by a kid. Its hardcoded to COM1, so if you cant get it working, follow these steps.1) Download the software for the PSU from the link in the Sellers Product Description on Amazon above.2) Install it (unzip it)3) Power on the PSU and plug it into the USB4) Go to your Computer Management, find COM ports and make a note of the Com port number5) Edit the WSComSet.XML file found in the settings folder of the App, use notepad6) Enter your comm port number, save the file7) restart the app (PowerDC.EXE) and double click on 'Default Device' icon8) now it works.Hope it helps :-)

Good, to a point, but beware of an issue with EMC (RF) immunity if you are a Radio Amateur
The media could not be loaded. Generally a great little bench PSU. Very accurate voltage output and negligible switching noise on the DC output. Lightweight and nicely made too. Highly recommended for electronics enthusiasts and makers.RFI (EMC Emissions) from the case are very low too, what noise I could detect was coming likely from the front panel LED display drivers (LF/MF/HF) with a Kenwood THF7E handheld transceiver held right up to the front panelSince making the first half of the video I've noticed a design issue. The results are demonstrated in the second half of the video; I've dropped the rating to 4* because the unit's EMC immunity is not great. As a result I cannot recommend the use of this PSU in applications near a radio transmitter or for RF testing. The 2nd half of the video demonstrates the problem. It would be nice if the manufacturer could fix this as then I'd give the unit the 5* rating it deserves. I can still recommend the unit for general electronics use.

Great Value Programmable Bench PSU
Sub £100.00 for a programmable 150W DC PSU. Too good to be true, yet here it is, next day delivery, and working fine. How long it will last I don't know. Once you have loaded the software and installed the comms port, you will need to edit the <WSComSet.XML> file located in the <setting> subdirectory. Find the line <PortName>COM1</PortName> and change the COM port to be the same as your freshly installed com port.

Great value for money
I bought the 30V 10A version of this and find it to be excellent value for money. I've used it to power laptops I don't have PSUs for (DC jacks bought separately), temporary battery replacements and general electronics experiments so far.In addition to the review by Nige_ where the wonky software is discussed, I've discovered that you don't need to change settings in the 'setting\WSComSet.XML' file directly, and can do it from within the application. Look in your system tray after loading it and you will find a new icon labelled 'The upper computer software of DC regulated power supply' (nice translation there, not sure what of though) that you can right-click to access a whole host of settings and features. The icon is the same as the one displayed for the 'PowerDC.exe' file, which looks like a pencil over a grid of blue squares. The menu option to set the COM port is 'Sampling Port Settings'. I created a new device with the correct COM port, renamed it and then deleted the default device. After that it sees my PSU and works correctly. You can also set keybindings for accessing the preset Mx buttons and automation parameters for running a sequence of different voltage/current combinations.

A quality product
I've had one or two bench power supplies in the past, and there are a lot of bad apples out there. Happily, this unit isn't one of them! The buttons are responsive, the output reliable, and it doesn't struggle with very low currents. The constant-voltage and constant-current buttons illuminate when the limits activate, which is a nice feature. The adjustment knob works well, which isn't always the case with rotary encoders. Overall, I'm very happy with the unit, and would recommend it.The only problem I've experienced is that the voltage adjustment mode only lasts for a couple seconds; meaning that you can't fiddle with the knob at your own pace. Every time you pause for a moment, it drops you back into normal mode, and you have to keep going back into adjustment mode to continue twiddling. A bit aggravating, and it would be nice to have the option to set the timeout. I've docked the unit one star for this.Aside from that it's a great unit, and I'm glad I bought it.

Burnt smell coming from unit ... before I even used it ...
Literally just got this delivered (4th jan 2021) and after unpacking the PSU I could smell a burnt smell coming from inside the unit, as if something has burnt out. The unit hasn't even been plugged in yet. Is this smell normal? ... has anyone else had this, or a different weird smell?I'm an electronics engineer and I know a burnt smell anywhere. I also know what a new unit should smell like and it shouldn't smell like this. I really want to take it apart but don't want to cut the warranty seal.I researched this unit (and its clones) and was very impressed with it. I'm hoping it's going to be a great supply but at the same time I'm a bit worried I may have ended up with a doozy, before I actually use the unit.I will update the review when I have answers. So I will give it 3 Stars for now, as it is running at the moment. I need to take it through its paces (functions and power ratings) to see how far it goes.It could very well be a factory smell but I've never had any electronic devices smell like this, straight from factory, only when they've burnt out :)
