Nice color. Holds fast.
Re. 54th Infantry. This ink has a very nice color on decent paper. Almost a denim blue with a hint of green/gray. It is a little wetter than I am used to. It behaves best in my Parker medium nib, but makes the lines a little broader. My Lamy with a 1.1 stub nib, has a tiny bit of nib creep, but not like some of the other Noodler's inks I've reviewed. My Waterman with a medium flex nib is not so well behaved with this ink. I am wiping it a lot. I guess it all depends on what pen and nib combo you use. I can say that it holds fast on paper in a water test. I haven't gone as far as using solvents, but under a good dose of water, it is almost as it was written. It will bleed through cheap paper a bit. In my water test, with cheapo notebook paper, the lines of the paper disappeared but the ink did not. On Rhodia, other than the water wrinkling the paper, it was as if the ink was just written. IMHO, pretty good. I'm not worried about anyone tampering with my checks.....remember those? :) I like the color and characteristics. I'll buy this again if I ever run out.

So much to love about this beauty of a find.
So much to love about this ink! So I'll start with the actually ink itself: 1. The color is spectacular. Blue is my favorite color but not any blue will do. It is not those flashy, bright, overkill, bright, dance recital color blue but rather a dark denim, matte tinge blue. A blue that if I were to purchase this color dress, I would not have an issue matching it with other accessories. 2. What's not to like about a permanent ink in today's day and age with so much theft and deception going on. I did not know that regular pen ink could be washed away until recently which is one of the reasons I went on a search for a permanent ink. 3. Archival ink. I again did not know anything about archival quality until I started a few decades ago working on my ancestry and saw how ink could fade. 4. It is a good size bottle of ink. Will last me a while which is very important. NOW... the most exciting about this bottle of ink. It is made in good old New England! And so we get to support a fellow New Englander. So far I know for sure that my family is and always has been a true New Englander... residing in New England through many a war... including the Revolutionary War. And I will even go so far to say that even the box it came in is interesting. Not sure if the boxes are all the same but mine had cute little decorated pictures on it and had a fish. If you are a New Englander and have ever been Striped Bass fishing, you just know what I mean. Now they have forced me to have to go look up this regiment and learn more about it. And who knows, maybe I'll find one of my relatives served in it.

Good waterproof Blue-black ink
I received the item I was expecting to receive as indicated on the label. Be forewarned, Noodlers Ink fills the bottles to the very top. Before opening, place on paper with a paper towel on top to help catch absorb any spills. The did overflow when filling a fountain pen due to the displacement. The label got messed up. Ink on hands. The ink cleaned up well when I addressed it immediately. Don't care to find out what happens if I wait. The ink worked as expected. It is extremely water resistant. I have not tested the forgery resistance. I will take Noodler at its word. The ink kept up with my writing speed while using a LAMY Extra Fine Steel Nib. The black/blue color of the ink which drys to be more of a blue-grey color will allow me to sign legal documents with a fountain without the worry of my signature being washed off. FYI, some folks have started to request a color other than black when signing documents, so a distinction can be made when scanning and sending. The dry time for the ink is relatively quick. 5 seconds Rhodia. 7 seconds on generic. I washed up The ink flows well and keeps up while writing with a LAMY extra fine steel nib. For a waterproof ink, this is a good sign. I bought this ink to have something that is water resistant and more permanent than many fountain pen inks, of which 80 % or more will wash away. The color contrasts fine with Black. I recommend this ink for those wishing to use a more waterproof ink.

Beautiful ink!
This ink is such a pretty color and it writes beautifully! It is not too light when used with a fine nib and it's depth is demonstrated really well with a medium nib!! I have not had any issues with bleeding and feathering yet, but I will update this review once I've tried it on printer paper! I have had no issues with smudging as well! ***UPDATE*** No issues with printer paper at all!!! I also did a small test with water and this ink did really well! Only some very minor bleeding but it is still very clearly legible!!! I'm very impressed!!!

Worth your money to try!
I recently bought a bottle of this ink to replace my Parker Blue-Black Quink. They are both priced relatively equally; Noodler's cost more, but came with more ink. In most ways, I prefer the Noodler's. The color of this ink is absolutely fantastic. It leans slightly more toward blue than black, and is crisply legible on the page. Moreover, it has remarkable consistency between different types of paper. This is in contrast to Parker's blue black, which looked great on some papers but horribly faded on others. Another nice feature is the 'bulletproof' nature of this ink. I tested this against water, bleach, alcohol, spit, etc... and it would not budge (until there was a physical hole rubbed in the paper!) Most important is the fact that it's waterproof. I've never seen another ink so permanent, and yet it washes off of my hands easily! More than anything else, this is the number one reason to check this ink out. The behavior of this ink is moderate to good. It takes a bit of effort to prime the pen after sitting, but it also behaves well in the pen, and has yet to leak. Nib creep is a visual issue, but doesn't affect writing. One point of contention-- this ink has a noticeable odor to it as you're writing. It doesn't particularly bother me, but it could bother some people. In summary, this ink is definitely worth the price of admission. Try it!

Beautiful color for signing important docs!
My first foray into fountain pens and this is the ink I chose for it. The color is a wonderful blue-black that is perfect for signing contracts and other important docs. After considerable research, this ink ticked all the boxes for me and I couldn't be happier! I'm a lefty, and this is touted as being especially quick drying. I can say from my experience that it is certainly true. I haven't stained my hand even once thus far. (I'm an overhand writer.) The ink flows smoothly and sets quickly. I'm now a fan of Noodler's Ink and will look at getting another pen to play with different colors. This first pen will live with only this ink in it for its entire life.

Beautiful Blue Archival Ink
Very nice blue. More on the darker navy side which I like. Tested waterproof on basic copy paper 1 min after applying the ink. No smears. Perfect stay. Definitely an archival ink which I was looking for. I use a Pilot Metroplolitan pen with an italic nib and the ink flows flawlessly with no feathering and no bleeding through the copy paper. My bulletproof black ink from Noodler did bleed slightly through cheap paper so anticipate this will as well. With higher quality paper Iโve never had an issue.

Comprehensively Perfect, hereโs why...
This ink checks EVERY box for me. I want to write with it even when I have nothing to write. Now, letโs get into the particulars that you need to know. A.) This stuff is permanent. Iโm talking PERMANENT permanent. Got it in your finger? Get ready to scrub your hands in an exercise in futility. โขI sign all important documents with this ink, i.e. Passports, Social Security Card, legal paperwork, etc. It does NOT AND WILL NOT wash off of paper. But you know that because youโre looking up a bulletproof ink. B.) It is thin. It flows. It will be all over the top of your nib and any effort to wipe it off will, again, be an exercise in futility that will leave you with more ink on there than you started with. โขHave this ink in a Medium nib pen? Itโs going to write like a bold โขHave it in a Fine nib? Youโre gonna get a medium. Thatโs just what it does. It grabs and holds the fibers, but it does NOT FEATHER. C.) You will get some ghosting. Itโs heavy. Itโs deep. Itโs bold. Itโs gonna happen. Will it bleed through? If you go over the same line more than twice, yes, you will bleed through the page, which is at least the case with 24lb paper. D.) it is a FULL bottle, so be careful when you open it. As mentioned in bullet A, it is permanent. E.) it invokes a great sense of resolution. It is iron. It is elegant. Its color gradient is perfectly suited for its intention. Youโll find a great satisfaction in the light-to grey-to navy shifts. Your favorite part will probably be the beautiful black tail that will leave as you lift the nib from its final contact. It will compel you and instill such wonder as to how you ever wrote with something so โnon-permanentโ before. F.) As mentioned, it runs thin and bold, so your pen is going to drink this stuff. A fine point running like a medium is going to go through this stuff significantly faster, so donโt be surprised if youโre not yielding the same amount of words as you were with a Diamine or Pilot ink, but it will be so much more satisfying. Diamine Ancient Copper is my second favorite ink, but it doesnโt stay wet like this does. This will, more than likely, never dry up in your nib or converter if youโre using it regularly. It did leave some in an old converter for about...4 years or so, and it just washed right out. Didnโt clog or put up a fight. G.) Great value. Buy it. Youโll use it forever so be prepared for that. It will become your new signature ink and people will recognize you by it. Yes, it is that significant. Anyway, this typing is boring me, I need to go spill some of this glorious liquid all over a page somewhere East of the Shenandoah River.

Great ink
I really bought this ink because its waterproof and it have not let me down. It dries quickly. Also a very nice shade of blue. I'll be sticking to Noodler's brand for all my future fountain pen ink purchases.

Wonderful colour
Iโm new to the FP world, and have taken to its charm quickly. I do not prefer black inks but I require a professional one. I enjoy the blue/gray of this ink. Itโs professional but has enough of a quirkinesses that can give you a sense of not being a corporate drone. This will be in my daily writer and will be purchased again when i run out.
