Satisfied With The Purchase
The Shimano 105 groupset is well-known for its durability, high-quality finish and arguably the best bang for the buck when compared to its brothers (Sora, Tiagra, Ultegra and Dura-Ace). This brake caliper is no exception, with its nice pewter-like color, solid construction (the only plastic is the barrel adjuster crown) and an attractive price point. Already rode my bike this early in the season and my favorite route has almost every kind of road contour (flats, hills, and fast descents). I can say that I made the right decision in purchasing this, replacing my stock calipers. Whenever I squeeze the brake levers, I get that confident feeling that my momentum is being halted by these 105s, and it is easily modulated by the amount of stopping power I need.As every cyclist already knows, the Shimano line of products benefit from trickle-down technology so in essence these 105s are actually the Ultegras a few years back. So for those who value function over form (and price tag) this fits the bill nicely. And if a cyclist needs to upgrade just one component on his/her bike due to budget constraints, it should be the brakes.UPDATE: Just a reminder to those who own a bike that requires long-reach brakes, these model may or may not work for you as is. Either get a brake set that is specified as long-reach, or get an offset pad if you have already purchased it like in my case. Learned what that long-reach means after I found out that my pads were scraping the sidewall of my tires whenever I apply the brakes. Good thing no catastrophic blowouts happened.

Great, effective brakes
Bought these about a year ago for my commuter bike because the 30-yr-old calipers and tiny, dry brake pads on my Peugeot weren't cutting it. These brakes were/are a little pricey but the area where I work has a lot of crazy bicyclists so needless to say I couldn't skimp on braking. These brakes are fantastic. Even with the stock pads I can lock up my wheels instantly while going less than 20 mph (I wouldn't dare try at higher speed) which says plenty about stopping power. They were easy to adjust and install, and thankfully they were compatible with the 1980s frame. Now that I'm getting into competitive cycling, I'll probably get another pair for my new bike. Highly recommend them!Edit: The bike these are mounted on is stored outside, and even after a year there seems to be very little corrosion. Good quality materials.

Two Stars
It doesn't have detents for adjusting the brake with the quick release. It's either on or off, no in-between.

Best track bike front brake for the $$$
Great stopping power, looks good, perfect for my black Aventon Mataro. I used to ride brakeless but I enjoy my bike much more with this reliable and lightweight brake on the front.

The very best caliper for your fixie
I build bikes. I use the Shimano 105 stuff as I think its just about on par with Ultegra. My opinion. On a fixed gear bike when you ride the streets in heavy traffic, I recommend this caliper. It works fabulous. I use it with the Paul Components e-levers for minimal looks. Its a great combo. I used to use Paul Components Racer Medium calipers. The 105 blows them away.

Excellent caliper
Shimano do brakes very well. It's feels reliable and safe, does it's job well, the black looks cool on my particular custom built bike with Leader 725 frame, and it's components seem to be quality.

Awesome brakes!
Replaced much older Shimano 105 brakes. What an incredible difference in braking power. Highly recommend these brakes. Look nice, easy to install and reasonable price.
