This is not the same ingredient as Beano, is it?

No. It doesn't prevent gas it keeps it from making foam so it can pass easier. Beano has an enzime that helps your digestion digest the unique sugars in the beans etc. So there is not so much gas produced almost eliminating it. I thought I would try the symethicone, but no more for me. Beano next time!!

Are they gluten free?

Yes, they are gluten free. I have Celiac and I'm extremely sensitive to gluten. I actually take these to help with bloating if I accidentally get glutened.

If i order now I do not want a year's worth of pills that expire in 4 months. what is the actual expiry date i will receive?

the last order i received (about two months ago) is stamped 04/2018....it's a great product and inexpensive...........
