I love this stand. I use it strictly for live performances and my band mates joke it looks like something off of a spaceship, but it's quick to set up and very sturdy. I play a Roland V as well as a Nord stage 2 and weight has never been an issue. I did upgrade to an onstage padded bag to carry it in as the one sold for it wasn't of very good quality. Overall, I'm very happy with this stand and I would highly recommend it.

I needed a double stand for a gig, and I really wanted a sturdy column stand with small footprint that looked great on stage. The Spider fit the bill pretty well. First off, this thing is SOLID, very stable, and sets up quickly. Because it is so solid and stable, it is understandably heavy. Fortunately, the gig ran for a month, so once I was set up, I didn't need to move it. This Spider model is definitely designed for playing standing up. I suppose you could sit if you didn't mind the column blocking your view, but I believe they make a shorter version for sitting. The only real complaint I have is, if you're playing on book, there's really no good place for a music stand. I experimented with a few options (short mic stand attached to the top screw with an attached stand), and even looked at the K & M music stand accessory (which I believe it has been discontinued). Regardless, adding a music stand to the top really isn't an option. Not only would the stand be too high, it would also be too far way because of the way the column slants back. My solution was to take and existing tripod music stand and build a platform (basically a "T" shape with three legs) to get the tripod stand high enough to clear the top keyboard. I was able to get the stand close and off to the side with the additional platform, and didn't have any issues. One other thing to note is, if you have a keyboard on the top rack, you may have trouble seeing the controls on the bottom keyboard in dim lighting (depending on whether or not your controls are backlit). Some reviewers have implied this is a design issue, but I disagree. If you suspend an opaque object above another object, the suspended object is going to block any overhead light, that's just the way light works. Also, if the top keyboard was far enough back to not occlude any light, you'd have a heck of a time reaching it. So as far as the light is concerned, it is what it is. My solution for this was to use a piece of Velcro tape (the kind used for power cord management) and strap two adjustable LED stand lights (the kind that have the two independent lights that look like insect antennae) to either side of the column. I was able to position the "antennae" where I wanted them underneath the top keyboard to throw some light on my bottom controls. Problem solved. So, to recap, the pros are: - Very stable - Easy to set up and adjust - Looks really cool - Smaller footprint than an X or Z setup - Cord management attachments keep thing looking neat from the stage Cons are: - Heavy (understandably so) - If you plan to play on book and use the upper rack, you'll need to get creative with incorporating a music stand Even with the music stand issue, I'm still rating this stand a 5, because I don't think there's anything from a design perspective that could be changed without diminishing the flexibility of the stand.

Before i got my k&m spider pro stand i had a regular x stand with an extra tier. When looking for a new column stand i wanted something that was sturdy enough to hold the weight of my keyboards without shaking or becoming unstable. I bought it after i seen a youtube video review of the stand. i seen that it was sturdy and didnt wobble around so i ordered it. The day after i got it i used it for a gig. IT worked wonderfully. It sets up really fast(10 minutes). The column itself shakes a little but the base legs hold the stand perfectly. The only bad thing about this stand is that its pretty heavy and without the bag its a hassle to carry around. Also the stand itself is pretty tall. So if youre under six feet or if you plan on sitting while you play this stand might not be for you. I like the fact that you can add another tier and put a laptop rack or microphone boom on it. This stand is practical and not to mention really appealing. I would recommend this stand to anyone who can carry it and who is tall. I seen that k&m sells a "baby spider pro".

I do enjoy this stand better than the ultimate stand, however I had to purchase an after market metal piece for the adapter to be able to add a mic boom. The piece it comes with is made of cheap plastic and was terrible. The top tier on mine also lays a little crooked too, even when it matches the opposite side, so I have to adjust my bottom keyboard the same way to make it look like both keyboards are even and then move the entire stand the opposite way. When carrying the keyboard in the bag it is heavily weighted on one side so it's difficult to manage. Too bad they didn't put the handle all the way to one side to counter balance it. Oh well. Overall, still better than ultimate. Two great things are it is sturdier and if you are completely set up, you can move the whole stand easily if you realize you have to slide your setup over. The ultimate stand was a nightmare in that sense having to remove the keyboards to slide the stand. The spider is still probably the best double tier out there that folds streamline but it's just still not perfected the way I'd hoped.

Where to begin? Pros: Looks great...well, except for the garish giant lettering on the column facing the audience. Unless the name of your band is “spider pro” this is something you’ll immediately want to cover up or remove. Cons: Bouncy and shaky even with slight playing force. Major detriment to technique and feel for piano players. To somebody that triggers samples and EDM sounds this may not matter, this stand is more for posing than actual playing (it really does look cool). This stand is heavy and unbalanced. You absolutely need a carry bag, but the end with the legs is so much heavier than the other end that if the bag handle is in the center (like most every bag), it is still not practical to carry with one hand. The mic boom mount plate is plastic and will almost surely break eventually if not immediately. K&m realizes this, that is why you can buy a metal replacement plate for it here on Amazon for 25$. Why they didn’t just put it on the $350+ stand to begin with is inexcusable. Also, the plastic adapter for the threads is garbage, for a couple dollars you can get a metal one, why not include with the $350+ stand? Great stand for posers, not for players. This thing bounces so much that any attachments, like booms or laptops are flapping around so much that the audience would notice. It’s a real shame I had to return it cause it looks fantastic, I really wanted to keep it. Hard to believe that something this heavy would be so bouncy and shaky. I’m a 30+ year pro, have 2-tier x-stands, z-stands and the standtastic 3-tier when space allows, the spider is the last one I would want to play a gig on.

Until recently I've used and liked the Ultimate Support Apex stand, but traded up to the Spider for the fact that the legs allow room for the sustain pedal (the Ultimate Support sits flat on the floor, which forces a pedal to be too far back for my tastes.) I've also used X-style stands, but prefer the tower stands because they're more stable for a standing playing position, and also eliminate the need for a mic stand and music stand. This stand looks fantastic. I did notice some minor scratches to the finish on delivery, so it probably scratches easily. (I bought the carrying bag, which should help.) The height of the tiers is easy to adjust. The mechanism actually uses leverage caused by the weight of the keyboard to stay in place - the screw knob is just for safety so you do not have to tighten it very hard. Unfortunately, you have to put the tiers at specific heights to pack it up, so you will be resetting the height every time it's set up, and you'll probably have to mark your desired height on the stand itself. The arms are solid with minimal bouncing (less than the Apex.) It is VERY tall, standing 4' 3" (130cm) when it's set up (to allow the arms to fold up for transport.) If you front a band, it might feel like it's cutting you off from the audience, especially when using the boom mount on top. The arms would go low enough to play in a seated position, but you would be facing the main column. The threaded steel post for the mic boom is European sized (3/8-16), but it comes with a plastic adaptor to fit standard US booms (5/8-27). Unfortunately (as noted in other reviews) the plastic doesn't seem durable enough for road conditions, so I'd suggest purchasing a metal adaptor if you plan on using it with any regularity. Unlike the Apex, there is no carrying handle, so maneuvering it around is a little awkward, especially when it's a little heavier than the competition. I haven't lugged it any great distance yet, but it doesn't feel THAT much heavier than the Apex. I don't need the top tier for now, so I easily removed it. Frankly, this stand would be perfect for me if it were 16" shorter, but I'm quite happy with the compromises. In conclusion: Positives: great looks, very stable, easy to position tiers, legs allow for flexible placement of sustain pedal Negatives: no handle, questionable boom post, a little heavy

I bought this a few months ago. Have used on about 6 gigs now. I was using the Ultimate Apex stand. The Spider pro is 100% more stable. Yes it’s a bit heavier and set up takes a little longer than the apex because you have to reset the arms every time. But in my opinion it’s worth it. I use a Montage 8 ( very Heavy) and Modx 6 on top. Yes the stand is expensive but so are my keyboards. The wobble that the Apex had was just unacceptable to me for the amount of money I had in keyboards sitting on it. The bag issue has been fixed. The bag I ordered has the handles closer to the bottom of the bag to fix the weight distribution problem. And visually it looks very professional.

The stand is incredible, very sturdy and easy set. Looking forward taking it to Gigs. Highly recommend it.

Started having worries the stand would fit in my small apartment and be difficult to set up after seeing some comments after I bought it. Received the stand in the mail and was immediately relieved that it was certainly manageable. Setup was a breeze once I figured out how the 'spider' legs were supposed to be for support. Once done I will be able to repeat easier for next time. I have an Arturia KeyLab mkII that I use on the top tier. Little rubber bumpers can help raise this thin keyboard from hitting the holding fingers if you have the same setup (not a fault of the spider). I ended up buying two pieces of nice pine--a 4' section for the bottom tier and a 3' for the top. If I use the Arturia 61 on the bottom I can add a PUSH controller as well and use the top for sheet music. Otherwise I now have the Arturia on top of the top level pine and an 88-key on the bottom. I can add lights on the bottom of the top pine panel if I want which illuminates the bottom keyboard. Recommend marking position per other's recommendations as the arms have to be relocated to close, but that's easy. The design is beautiful, it doesn't actually block me so much. In fact with my angling I can see my 55" monitor over the top tier. A wide tripod mounted music stand let's me see 9 pages of sheet music if I use the top tier for 5 pages. I love it. Only been playing standing up for now. Might add RGB lights across the back for extra wow. Highly recommend this stand. The option of a 3rd tier really future-proofs this investment. It's very expensive compared to the other stands but the quality and design fit my needs.

This keyboard stand is outstanding, there is a cheaper copy available for about £55 but I doubt it is in this class. When you have expensive keyboards sitting on a stand you need faith that it will not let you down, I guarantee that this won't. It's not the cheapest out there but it just oozes quality and is very easy to assemble. This stand is well worth the money and will keep your equipment firmly in place and looks great as well. In my opinion It's a worthwhile investment.
