Replacement Key Fob Fit for Toyota Rav4 06-10/Scion XB 08-13, HYQ12BBY

So to be completely transparent, I never actually cut these keys. I bought them only for their keyless entry ability. The keys were very easy to program, and worked with my car flawlessly. The fact that these keys are so cheap, when the original are hundreds of dollars make these a must have. As far as durability goes, that is a hard one. The original key snapped, and Toyota told me that these kind of keys, even the ones that cost hundreds of dollars, snap easily because they are plastic inside. Well, if that is the cause, why not just buy this and replace it when needed?

if you don't have original key these may not start car , and cost you more than if you bought one from the lock smith to cut and program, most wont program unless you buy fob from there store.. but for the 80$ invested to purchase and cut i have two door openers.

Looks solid. Took keys/fob to auto locksmith. One key did not work at all. The other key could not be programmed (per locksmith). The locksmith changed the chip in the key. Now one key works fine. Note, not all places that cut keys will deal with an auto key/fob. In distant past I found on-line instructions to program a key fob myself. With the need to cut the key, it was easier to let the auto locksmith do the programming.

Had to try a few different programming instructions before I found the set that worked. Best purchase I've made on this car as there is only one key-hole to get into the car, which means I always had to walk to the driver's door to get in. Having the wireless saves me time every time I need to load something into the back. Instructions that worked for me: Start with the key out of the ignition, drivers door is open all others closed and drivers door is unlocked. Have all the remotes near you that you want programmed. Insert the KEY into the ignition (Do NOT Turn), then Pull key out, and repeat. KEY: IN, OUT, IN, OUT Driver's door: CLOSE, OPEN, CLOSE, OPEN KEY: IN, OUT Driver's door: CLOSE, OPEN, CLOSE, OPEN, CLOSE! Key: IN! TURN key to ON (Don't start), then back to OFF KEY: OUT! Ready to program new remote (door locks will lock and unlock to acknowledge programming mode) 1) Within 40 seconds, Press the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 seconds. 2) Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, Press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock and then unlock once indicating successful programming. If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps A and B in step 6 as the remote was not accepted. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each new remote. When complete, Open drivers door and car will exit programming mode.

Bought these after buying a brand new uncut key from a "locksmith" only to not have it work. After the first failed attempted with the key from the locksmith I decided to try my luck with these and I'm 100% satisfied. I purchased these 2 keys for the same price I payed the locksmith for 1 garbage key and had them cut at a hardware store for $5. I programmed the keys myself with my Autel Maxicom MK808 scan tool which is also another great buy. The programming process for both keys took less than 15 minutes. Both keys are now programmed to the immobilizer and start the car right up no problems. In order to program the door lock/unlock buttons that requires a sequence of opening the doors and cycling the key ignition which can easily be found online with a quick search. (Note: This process does not require any special scan tools) Couldn't be happier especially after being quoted $150 to program each key by the same locksmith who sold me junk. Save your money and do it yourself!

Since my local hardware store was not willing to cut a blank key that was not their key, I decided to put the new internal part from the Amazon remote into my old remote. Now I have the original key with new parts. I got the instructions from the recommended www sites and printed the instructions. I tried several times but it did not work. I went on You Tube and found a video which showed that I was going to slow. There are timed requirements (within 5 seconds put the key in and out two times). I got the pace down and tried again and it worked great for two original remotes. I decided to put the old parts into the new Amazon remote. I programmed it using the working remote with the original key. I used the new blank key when I could and the cut key when I have to turn the key to the on position. I used the new uncut remote for the last two steps. It worked perfect. I am hoping to talk Home Depot into cutting this remote so I have a spare. Another alternative (without cutting the new key) is to program the new Amazon remote using your original key and just use the Amazon key to remotely open the car door. Why I I happy? I have three remotes that work the car’s locks for under $30 instead of paying Toyoda upwards $400 each for a new remote. Now that I have this knowledge, I would recommend that you replace the battery and reprogram the old remote to be sure that doing this alone will not solve your problem first. Either way I am very happy with the results.

La llave funcionó perfecto para abrir y cerrar los seguros de las puertas a control remoto siguiendo las indicaciones de la liga qué te dan. Solo me falta llevarla con el cerrajero para que hagan la copia y programen el encendido del motor.

Original FOB electronics were fine & were able to move these from the old to the new key blank FOBs with no problems. Getting a new key cut using the old key as the template also no problem. However programming the new key does require a locksmith or someone with this know how as it is a methodical series of steps. Since we needed two new keys it was worth going this route and cost.
