In other words, your hair may not be straightened after all, or it will be OK for a bit, but when you wash your hair 4 days later, it'll be curly again. The neutralizer neutralizes the hair, not necessarily the straightening cream. The neutralizer is what will KEEP your hair straight. It makes the process permanent, and if you don't use the neutralizer then you won't have straight hair and your hair will break off.

Can you use the neutralizer on wet hair after the smoothing straightens treatment is washed off? Or does it matter for it to work?

Use this neutralizer after the hair is dried during the straightening process. Leave it on the hair for about 5 minutes then rinse it off.
