They strike a good balance between too much and not enough and this one is no exception. The information is more up to date than that in some books that come out less frequently and the suggested treatment regimens are handy when you need to find information fast. Review: Good basic medical reference - I've used this book for many years now. It's a great basic primary care reference. I gave up trying the online versions of medical references as they just don't work well for me. So, I returned to the good old paper version & I like it.

Still Excellent
In this age of internet, it is good to still be able to pull out my book, easy to read in outline format. I buy a new one every 5 years, and this is my 3rd. Reliable, quality info. Will continue to buy.

Amazing book
This is an amazing books, it is concise yet thorough and up to date. Great charts and visuals. It’s large book so it’s not for carrying around if you just want treatment guidelines the little ICU is great but this is more up to date and contains pathophysiology

Huge wealth of info in a single volume.
I use it as a quick go-to source of medical info or as a quick refresher. I started using CMDTs back in med school. I buy a new one every other year & find it really handy.

not fastest resource to use
I prefer some of the other texts that are required at my school but the book is exactly as advertised here and was in perfect condition when shipped.

An in depth reference for diagnoses and treatment of health problems.
I was a nurse of 32 years. But all of my reference books are out of date or don't cover the subjects in the detail that I wanted. This seems to fill those purposes.

Always helpful & informative...
Current Medical Diagnosis & Treatment is pretty indispensable for new, even experienced providers. It updates the ever-changing guidelines & treatments for hundreds of diseases & disorders. I can look treatments up here faster then on my phone, really.

good but with caveats
this is on the whole an excellent book and i would advise it to any professional over such textbooks as harrison or Cecil. it seems to me Big Pharma's lies are somewhat contained here. however, several cons are also to be mentioned. For one, this book still suggests gabapentin and pregabalin as antineuropathic agents, which actually are not despite FDA approval (see for instance chapter on gabapentinoids in Central Pain Syndrome, SpringerNature 2018). Outrageously, these agents are recommended for lumbar disk herniation, despite negative RCTs!!!! This is inadmissible. A few entities are not mentioned. for instance i was looking up SARS but there is no chapter dealing with it, only a passim in the MERS chapter. Bottom line: best book (and royally updated for roughly 80% of the chapters) of this kind on the market, beats Harrison and Cecil when it comes to the nitty-gritty, BUT caveat emptor: there are still holes that need to be tackled by these authors
