Butter Stollen, 1 lb. from The Swiss Colony

My German grandparents ALWAYS had STOLLEN (this light, fluffy fruitcake) for Christmas. I missed it so much since moving to the US - not anymore, thanks to the Swiss ColonyI always recommend, from Swiss Colony, the truffles, some more chocolates, and the little PETIT FOURSSwiss Colony NEVER disappointed my through all these years (about 6) than I have been sending for Xmas and Thanksgiving goodies

I am in search of a good German Christmas stolen. Such a stolen should have powdered sugar on it and dried fruits inside. The consistency should be cake like and firm. This stolen was a complete waste of my money (with shipping, almosty $30).The sugar covering was not powdered by a glaze that cracked when I cut it. The cake was dry and tasteless and crumbled when I cut it. I was okay with paying $30 for what I thought would be a good stoeln but this was not good at all. The stolen looks nothing like the picture and was a huge disappointment.My suggestion is, if this is the only stolen you can find, forget about buying one as you will be disappointed.

Way too dry.

I did not know there was marzipan in the stolen. It was much too sweet and since I had opened and tasted it I couldn’t send it back.
