Tricky to Use but So Pretty
Takes some time to get it right. I’ve tried Sugarveil before and never got it to work for me. This time I was determined to make it work. It is fussy. Not enough dry time and it won’t peel off the mold nicely, too much and it crumbles. But when you find the sweet spot, it’s beautiful.

Excellent Product!
I am new to using Sugar Veil and my first attempt didn't go so well. I watched some YouTube videos and the next time I used it, it worked like a charm. On delicate lace molds you really need to use a second coat after the first one is fully dry. I had ordered several molds and now that I have had a little practice all of them are turning out beautifully. The package says to use cornstarch on the molds to avoid sticking, but that did not work for me. I used Pam in a thin coat and used a new toothbrush to make sure it was in all the little crevices of the mold. Do your Sugar Veil project when you have plenty of time! This is not something you can rush! I did dry mine in the oven and that worked out very well. Most of my molds called for 200 degrees for 14 or 15 minutes. I have bought Anyana and Sugar Veil brand molds and they are both good quality products.

you can make beautiful lace but you will pay the price- literally
Yes, you can make beautiful lace but you will pay the price- literally. Sugarveil admits in their YouTube channel that they’ve modified their instructions all this time. I’ve read you need to oven set at 100F, at 200F, or no need to oven set at all. In my experience- I rather not risk it. I just leave it to dry overnight. All the pieces set in the oven got brittle faster. Some things I learned so far (but no one warmed about): Keep some cornstarch nearby- you’ll need to keep it from sticking to your fingers when handling the pieces of lace. Don’t put them in a plastic bag without separating the pieces with parchment paper (not wax paper). Pieces WILL stick to each other. The mix is super sticky. Takes forever to dry – but it will dry almost immediately on the surfaces you are working on and to the utensils too. Keep a bowl with warm water to dip, rinse & dry the spatula/spreaders. It tastes like a weird mix between stale Peep & meringues. Double layers work better than one. Spread one layer, let it set and spread another layer. Peel on top of another piece of parchment paper. Keep all surfaces dry! One drop of water and it will become a sticky mess.

Easy to use!
I am very pleased with this sugar lace. I tried to make it homemade two different times & it just wasn't working. Please don't stop selling this! I will buy it forever. I used 1 of the 2 packages which was enough for 3 molds (13" long 3" high) & I still had some leftover. I followed the "oven dry" instructions, but I actually left it out to airdry overnight & it came out of the mold nicely - I watched a SugarVeil youtube video. It accepts gel food coloring well, but I airbrushed mine & it turned out beautiful. I attached it to crusting buttercream using corn syrup.

A bakers worst nightmare. Read below for helpful tips!
If there was a way to give this item 0 stars I would. I followed the directions on the packaging and what I found on their website. Both times I was unable to achieve an edible lace design. It came out brittle and hard. Broke into pieces. I ended up using both packets and tried other methods of making it work but at the end it was a disappointment. I’m not sure if their brand has changed since they first launched but this was as easy as 1 2 3. Quite the opposite. I ended up using another recipe that I will share here that did work!! 1/4 cup of royal icing mix from the brand CK 1 tbsp tylose powder or cmc 1/4 cup boiling water. Mix together the boiling water and tylose powder until it forms a gelatin consistency. Add this to a mixer with a whisk attachment. Sift in royal icing mix and put the speed on medium for 7-10 minutes. It will look thick and a bit sticky but this is the consistency you want. Next place it on your silicone mat and scrape it down very well. Place your mat on a baking tray. Preheat oven to 170F. You will bake this for 20 minutes, turning around the tray at the 10 minute mark. After baking. Let it sit on the counter or in a dry cool place for 2 hours. Don’t touch it even though it is so tempting. This is a crucial step. Once it’s done cooling your lace should easily come off the mat. Hope this helps! Again don’t buy this product it sucks unless you want to throw your mat across the room and waste your precious time and money.

One bag hold 1.5 batches of mix
Followed directions on package. Easy to use, very happy with results. Glad there were two packages as one package makes one batch with little left over so if didn’t have second bag would end up tossing the leftover mix

Great for light decorations!
This stuff is amazing! It works great, but not by using the directions on the flyer that comes with the SugarVeil. The product should be added to boiling water and whipped about 5 min, till light & fluffy. Then spread it over a silicone mold that has a scant layer of a vegetable oil spray. I found it just peels right off when it's been left to dry overnight. Decorations made with this have a pleasant, slightly sweet taste.
