Imhotep: The Duel - A Kosmos Game from Thames & Kosmos | 2-Player Version of Spiel Des Jahres-Nominated Imhotep, Builder of Egypt Board Game

We LOVE board games and are always on the hunt for another good 2 player games for date night. This is not overly complicated, but still interesting and can be played in 30 min. There are also a few variations available within this box. It’s not as complex as 7 wonders dual, our favorite game, but shorter to set up & our kids can play this one.

Really fun game! Great for new and experienced gamers. Our theory is you score lower if both people are more experienced (because you try to stop each other from gaining points). Seemed complicated but pretty easy to learn--but not so easy it feels like a wasted purchase.

A fun little 'logic' game for two players. You select placement of your workers and then, based on how your figures are placed, claim cargo off of ships. It is definitely a "duel," the game is not just about collecting more points, the two players are constantly at odds and every action will likely undermine your opponent in some way. I also like that you can teach and play the game in about 30 minutes.Note, this NOT much like the original Imhotep game. If you love the 4 player game, give this game a try before you buy (unlike the Duel version of 7 Wonders which shares a lot in common with the full game). The 'feel,' the rules, and strategy of this game is very, very different. You cannot translate strategies from this game and apply them back to the full game (the way you can with 7 Wonders). The theme of the game may be the same, but it is an entirely different game.I have some minor complaints about the board design and the way the rules are written, but this is still a solid game. Glad I bought it, though not likely to be a real favorite.

I had been looking forward to playing a Phil Walker-Harding game so I sprung on Imhotep the duel when it went on sale. I play a lot of board games with my gf so the fact that it was a two player game was really appealing. After playing it a couple times, we were not disappointed. This game is a fantastic two player game because it feels so tight as you are playing. The other person’s moves directly impact yours in a way that had us saying “I was gonna do that on my next turn!” If you want a tactical game for two players that can bring out the competitive spirit, give this a try.

My husband and I play a lot of two player games, and Imhotep Duel was enjoyable to the point we're considering getting the original. Very simple rules, not much opportunity for analysis paralysis, quick to play. A light game, but there's some strategy involved.

If you are familiar with the original 4 player version of this game, and enjoy that, then purchasing this is a no-brainer. In comparison, the rules for this version: The duel, are deceptively simple. It can be taught fairly quickly and is very easy to understand. But, once the game has begun, the strategies and complexities of the game become evident. This tiny worker placement game is HUGE on strategy. It is not merely a rehash of the original. Rather, the creator was able to take a few key elements and develop a brand new game.The length of the game is on the shorter side, but not so short that it goes by in a flash. And, just like it's predecessor, there are a number of variations that can be introduced should you tire of the same old game. The boards flip over to reveal "B" sides that play very differently than the "A" sides.I'm happy to have this game as an addition to my collection and it does not take up much room!

We like the game

Hard to find fun two person games, but this is one of them! First game took some time to get the set up and rules down. After that, we referred to the rules only once or twice. There is a decent amount of strategy that makes it a different game each time. There are quite a few smaller pieces, so I would play in on a table or cleared space.

Nice filler. Quick to set up. Game is straightforward. Had some nice twists to keep it enjoyable. Game arrived safe and sound

We have only played this once so far, but can already see it has a lot of replayability!Plenty of colourful, well-made playing pieces. It comes in a good-sized box and is very portable. It doesn't require a large playing surface, so would make a good game to take on holiday.We found we needed to think quite hard before making a move... do I make a move that improves my Empire... or do I make a move that spoils my opponent's chances?!The multi-scoring system is very good, so you can't be sure who has won until the final scores are added up!With double-sided home boards to increase the variety and strategy of play, we are looking forward to playing this game many, many more times!

Buen juego, rápido y entretenido. Esta es la versión inglesa, pero no genera problemas porque no se utiliza el idioma el en juego y se pueden bajar las instrucciones en español de internet.

Fantastic little 2P only game. Basically boils down to worker placement and set collection. Played it 3 times and different strategy each time and there are lots of variety in the setup. Good add to the collection.
