a good reference on what (to me) is niche and obscure
like soap and yaml had a baby with inappropriate mixin from jinja templating, and xml got mad with netconf and snmp mib space.not the author's fault. maybe it grows on you.

full of great info, painful to read
i have read an enormous number of both technical and non-tech books in the last few decades and i can say without reservation that this is the worst written book I have ever read. Ever. Do publishers not employ editors anymore? There is a wealth of great, very useful information in this book, but the writing is soooo painful to read. Style, syntax, grammar - what's the point in publishing information in a book whose presentation of the material is so horrible?Sorry about the rant, but books are so expensive, especially technical books, that one ought to be able to expect simple readability. Most 3rd graders write more coherently. Aaargh - this is so frustrating to read!

Great Book
I LOVE this book. I am a Network Engineer and I had been skeptical about buying it for a while then finally decided to do so. The information is written a way that, for me, is simple to understand. I attempted to understand Yang before and it never clicked until I opened this book. I have only had it for about a week and was able to apply it at work. I highly recommended.

“Network Programmability with YANG” is a comprehensive guide for model-based programmability
This book covers all aspects of programmatic automation starting with how to design good YANG models, using NETCONF, RESTCONF and gNMI protocols, Model Driven Telemetry, industry trends and model standardization.Detailed descriptions are provided for NETCONF, RESTCONF, gNMI and Model Driven Telemetry including contrasts and recommendations on how and where to use these management protocols.Specific guidance and examples for how to use programmatic automation are provided for the Network Architect and Operator, for the YANG Module Author and for the Application Developer.Detailed examples of how to use NETCONF and YANG to manage networks are provided starting with model design through device interactions, using tools and applying network-wide transactions across many devices. If you are interested in network automation and programmability or are responsible for the development and delivery of programmatic interfaces I suggest you take a look at this book.

Best yang tutorial and well written comparison of various manageability technologies.
I did review most of the chapters. It is well-written book especially Jan's yang tutorial + netconf/gRPC comparison does not available in specs/internet etc. I/My group especially will mandate every new guy to go through this book. I personally spent a lot of time to find tools/understand yang etc, when I joined yang group. All this time could have been saved with this book.
