First off, I bought these in the Amazon Prime Day sales for £70 which is a total bargain. I would not consider myself an audiophile and if you are then you will probably want to invest more money into your headphones but the quality on these should suit most people. Very clear sound and I've picked up sound that I've never heard before on tracks I listen to often. I found these when looking for open backed headphones, partly because I want to be aware of my surroundings when I'm wearing them and partly so they don't make my ears feel as hot as my older headphones. Another benefit was that they feel more like listening to speakers rather than just being blasted into my ears but that could be personal preference. The open backed nature does mean there is sound leakage, both for you hearing external sound but also others being able to hear your music, so that's something you will need to consider for your usage. Very comfortable to wear for longer periods of time partially due to being lightweight though maybe not as portable as folding headphones would be but I don't need that. Very easy to use, no controls on the headphones so controlled completely through whatever you plug them into. In the box you get a 1.2m cable with a 3.5mm jack plug and a 3m cable with a 6.3mm jack plug, however there is also a 6.3mm to 3.5mm adapter included so you can still use the longer cable with devices that have a 3.5mm socket. The adapter makes the plug quite long so maybe not a great solution if you intend to use it with a portable device like a phone. The leads have a twist and lock mechanism to secure them into the headphones which is fantastic but you will need to be aware of that if you intend to swap over to the 3m cable. Overall, with the considerations I've given above, I would fully recommend these headphones for people wanting wired open back headphones without paying hundreds of pounds. Especially great value if you can pick them up on sale.

Good sound from these phones. Nice light trebles and good bass response from these comfortable phones. Good value with a long straight cable, I'm not a fan of coiled because of the tension created. The sound is in my head not in my ears..., there's nothing not to like especially for longer listen sessions.

I have given these a good few hours listening to run in before posting a review. I have mostly listened to heavy rock and metal. I bought the HD599 SE headphones in a Prime Day deal. For £70, I thought it was worth a punt to own my first Sennheisers. They are mostly plastic and look a bit cheap, but are comfortable to wear and they fit nicely over my glasses without causing discomfort. I found that even at only 50 Ohms impedance, they are difficult to drive with a Samsung phone. I have to have the volume almost at maximum to get a half decent listening level, and the sound quality is rather flat and not engaging at all. Next, I used a headphone amp on an Audiolab DAC, and there is a huge improvement in sound quality, but they are nowhere near as good as my Sony XM5's which were almost five times the price, and active, so not a fair comparison really. I found an EQ preset for the HD599's built into the Plexamp app, and now they sound so much better. I copied the EQ settings and created a preset in my Wiim Mini streamer, which is connected to the Audiolab DAC (the new D7), so after some initial disappointmemt, I have found a use for the HD599 SE headphones, and I am happy with the sound quality. I have had the HD600's recommended to me, so I will keep the 599's while I save up. My advice to others would be that these are worth buying if you have a low budget, if they are heavily discounted, if you have a headphone amplifier, and if you are prepared to play around with EQ. EDIT: After a few more hours of listening, I now prefer the sound without the EQ! Increased rating from 3 to 4 stars.

I brought these headphones about a month ago and decided not to review them until I'd spent at least 10 or so hrs using them, listening to a range of music ,rock, pop, jazz but mainly classical. So far I've found them very comfortable even when I've used them for listening sessions over 3 hrs or so. The sound is nicely balanced thru the frequencies and the sound is spread over the wide 'sound field'. They are a bit big and bulky (but light in weight), Also they don't fold and allow a lot of sound escape. So they're the not ideal for travelling but better suited for home use. The construction of the phones are mostly plastic but they well built and robust. These headphones are the best phones I've ever owned (so far) and considering what I paid for them (about £70). THEY ARE A STEAL. Foot note. Allow a few hrs of listening through these head phones to allow your hearing and brain to get used to the sound they make and also for the transducers to 'bed in' and loosen up a bit. The sound really do's seem to improve and get smoother as you them. To my ears anyway. -

When I first listened to these headphones through an iPad Pro with a DAC adapter I was shocked at the distortion coming through that I didn’t usually experience. After listening to a wide variety of music on Spotify I started to notice it was the audio quality of the stream, rather than the headphones so as an experiment I signed up to Tidal and started to compare the same track across the two platforms. What I found was these headphones excelled when listening to music through Tidal but were easily overdriven when used with Spotify. Overall they have a very pleasant and warm tone with good mid range clarity and they don’t overdo low frequencies and weight the bass too heavily. The fit is fine for my head size and I have no issues with prolonged use and have even slept listening to music. The ear pads are extremely comfortable and in these colder months a pleasant change from the Audio Technica ATH-M40x that I also use but which have a faux leather ear pad that get very cold in winter. I get that these are special edition and the colour scheme is black and silver, rather than the cream and brown of the non-special edition. It seems the more unique colour scheme of the originals are where you pay the extra money so I’m happy to have saved substantially by opting for the special edition colour. I didn’t intend to buy these as I’d lined up a pair of Grado headphones to buy but the ease of ordering on Amazon Prime and getting quick delivery meant I took a punt and was pleased with how things worked out. Personally I prefer a slightly warmer sound over a colder more clinical sound so these suit me well and have a decent cord length with a choice of 2 detachable cables. They’re both straight cables but I believe that the Audio Technica cables such as their coiled one will also fit this. Just be aware that these may make your current set up sound worse because they perform so well and will highlight any imperfections.

The best headphones I have ever owned. Comfortable for prolonged use and great quality sound too. The padding failed after 2 years of use, so I bought a new set of the same model while I find replacement pads. Genuine Sennheiser pads are hard to find. I like the way the cable plugs into the headset and twists to lock into place. I also like the choice of cables included, that allows me to use the shorter cable to plug into my computer. The pass through sound means I can hear activity around me when I wear these, walking to the village shops. Great value for money when on sale.

I was very tentative about buying these. I already have Bose QC 35 wireless headphones from a few years ago which got 5 star reviews everywhere... although I have to admit I never truly loved their sound. After buying a synth last year, and wanting some headphones more suited for home listening and music production, I started wondering about buying some simple wired headphones. But the question that nobody could answer for me is... could a £90 pair of wired headphones with no bluetooth and no noise cancelling be worth buying when you already have some £300 wireless headphones with those features from a few years back. The answer has been an emphatic yes - I've loved these since the first second I tried them, and my Bose and 3rd gen AirPods no longer get a look-in for home listening. As with all home audio, there are better and more audiophile options available, but for under £100 these are a very strong contender. Bass is clear and present, but not over powering. Sound is balanced but involving and not at all sterile. If you haven't had decent headphones before, you'll notice little extra nuances in songs you love. The packaging is a plain cardboard box, and the headphones don't feel unnecessarily showy or "premium" in their construction... but I don't mean this in a bad way. Basically every penny you're spending has gone on headphones that sound good, and do what they need to do but nothing more. They're light and comfortable to wear for as long as you like, and in my case, whilst wearing glasses. Don't buy these if you need only one pair of headphones in your life. They leak sound terribly (by design, as they're open-backed) and so would be useless for commuting. They're too bulky for travelling, wearing on the walk to work etc. But if you want a pair of headphone for home use that give balanced, enjoyable and involving sound, and you're fine to be "old-fashioned" and tethered with a cable then you should absolutely buy these.

I am no stranger to decent heapdhones in this price range, I have previously owned V-Moda Crossfade LP2's, BeyerDynamic Custom One Pro's, and most recenty BeyerDynamic DT 770 Pro's (80 ohm), which was a couple of years ago. Due to a lack of funds, since then I have been using a couple of cheap pairs of Bluetooth headphones (OneOdio and now Tribit, both under £35 each). I had done quite a bit of research and read many reviews for the best open back headphones for around £100, and these seemed to suite my needs best, great for music but also very good for watching films/TV. Out of the box, I wasn't that impressed. The bass is quite good, not 'ear thumping', just nice, tight and realistic, and the highs were 'OK', nothing special, but the mids just sounded off, especially vocals. It was like someone singing from around the corner, just not clear at all. I thought "Well, they haven't been run in at all, so lets try later". I left them connected to my MP3 player playing for 3 days straight. So, 72 hours or play time, that should loosen them up a bit, maybe they'll sound a bit better... Nope, just as bad. Not only couldn't they match any previous £100'ish headphones I've had in the past, they didn't even sounds as good as the £25 Tribit Bluetooth headphones I've been using. The Tribit may be a little bass heavy, but it doesn't ruin the mids or highs, both or which are far clearer and sharper than on these HD599's. Those tests were with music, but connected to the TV they were even worse. Speech was so hard to hear clearly I had to resort to reading subtitles sometimes to be sure of what was being said. It's a shame, as these are by far the most comfortable over ear headphones I've ever tried. Nice and light, and the velour pads are soft and feel great on the head. They are just let down by the sound quality, which I expected to be a lot better. So, it's either back to a pair of Beyer DT770 Pro's, which I know are good for my uses, or try something else. EDIT: I picked up a 2nd hand pair of AKG K550 (1st gen) for £50, and they are pretty much spot on for sound quality. Slightly warmer sounding than neutral, but mids and highs are still nice and clear. A little on the heavy side, but still comfortable to wear for long periods. Closed back, so soundstage isn't as good as a nice pair of open back headphones, but good enough for me. Nice proper memory foam ear pads too, though not sure if they came with them originally or the previous owner bought them as replacement.

Bei über 6000 Rezensionen habe ich mich schon gefragt, ob unsere/meine hier auch noch wichtig ist, oder interessant sein könnte. Wir sind keine super High-Res Nerds, aber wir hören viel Musik - wir können uns ein Leben ohne nicht vorstellen, streamen ausschliesslich in High-Res Qualität über das top Angebot von Amazon Music Premium. Ab und an hören wir bei einem Freund dessen Mega- Bang&Olufsen Anlage, bei der ein Lautsprecher weit mehr als den Preis für einen Kleinwagen kostet. Wir selbst sind große Liebhaber der Berliner Firma mit dem T vorne. Haben auch mehrere Kopfhörer von denen, eine Soundbar und Lautsprecher. Vor Jahren waren wir mal sehr enttäuscht von Sennheiser - ich meine die Momentum Reihe war es die wir echt schlecht fanden und so hatte ich auch echte Bedenken es nochmal mit einem Sennheiser zu versuchen, aber bei derart vielen positiven Rezis und dann noch einem super Preis haben wir es doch nochmal gewagt und sind begeistert. Dieser Kopfhörer muss ich zugeben sitzt nicht nur perfekt auf unseren sicherlich großen Ohren - sind beide sehr groß mit entsprechend großen Köpfen - sondern auch überaus komfortabel, der stört und drückt auch nach stundenlangem Musikhören nicht. Nein, dieser Kopfhörer schlägt auch locker unsere anderen beiden, die aus einem sogar höheren Segment stammen, er schlägt auch die mit dem T vorne dran. Im direkten Vergleich ist der Sennheiser unglaublich harmonisch, an ihm ist nichts schneidendes, nichts das auch nur im Ansatz überfordert wirkt. Bei Rockstar von Dababy zB scheppert unsere Fußbodenhzg mit im Takt, der Bass ist so brachial, dass die Magenwände mithüpfen, ja, das geschieht beim Hören mit dem Sennheiser nicht, aber er schafft es und das wirklich großartig. Er legt es schon sehr bassbetont aus, aber er packt es ohne Schwächen. Das wollte ich genauer wissen, und habe ihn weiter konfrontiert mit Black Samurai von WYR Gemi - auch hier hat er nirgends gepatzt, bei einem meiner Lieblinge - Sebastian Schub und seinem Paradise haben wir beide das Gefühl direkt neben Sebastian zu sitzen, die später einsetzende Snare mit Besen gespielt kommt derart klar, dass ich dachte mein Mann sitzt an seinem Drumset und übt. Die Höhen gibt er unserer Meinung nach ebenso klar wieder, wir haben bisher keine einzige Schwäche finden können, auch nicht bei Kanye Wests Black Skinhead findet eine glasklare Trennung statt, trotzdem kommt aus diesem Kopfhörer einfach nichts nerviges heraus. Das macht einfach nur Spaß und glücklich und ich hatte Salven an Ganzkörper-Gänsehaut beim Hören, egal ob beim Earth Song von Ekaterina Shelelova und ihrem vogelartigen Trillern. Dabei fällt mir ein, Klassik habe ich noch nicht probiert, aber ich bin sicher, auch das ist kein Thema. Bei diesem Kopfhörer gefällt es mir besonders gut, dass er am Kabel hängt. Ich muss nicht daran denken, ob der Akku auch voll ist, nur weil ich eben schnell ein paar Songs geniessen möchte, einstöpseln und fertig. Vllt ist das Grund für seinen runden, harmonischen in keiner Weise nervigen Klang. Wir haben uns wie die Kinder gefreut über diesen Deal, der Sennheiser macht uns sehr viel Freude. Ich gebe zu, ich hätte ihn lieber in hell gekauft, aber da gab es nicht diesen günstigen Preis und beim Hören ist mir die Farbe eh egal. Wir haben aber mal so gar nichts zu meckern an diesem Kopfhörer und können ihn unbedingt empfehlen, er bietet irre viel Qualität fürs Geld, Qualität beim Tragen und beim Hören. Während des Videos hat mein Mann eben zum ersten Mal bei einem Cover gehört, das der Drummer die Bassdrum mit unterschiedlicher Intensität anspielt. Mehr muss ich wohl nicht sagen. Wir lieben das Ding!

No sé a que vienen las críticas negativas por parte de algunos clientes y usuarios de YouTube. Si lo que esperaban es el sonido de unos de gama alta, pues entonces no es para ellos. Tienen un sonido claro para no ser neutrales del todo no son para a los que les gustan unos fuertes graves o agudos a los que están acostumbrados de otras marcas que los exageran. Con este tipo de auriculares podrás escuchar matices que no habrás oído nunca, los cuáles están enmascarados. Yo poseo unos AKG K-240 MKII estudio también de sonido neutral (Sé que su precio es bastante inferior) Y aunque también reproducen muy bien el sonido tienen el problema de que por su impedancia 55 Ohms necesita un apoyo para que suenen con gran potencia, cosa que no ocurre con estos SENNHEISER HD 599SE con sus 50 ya se escuchan bastante fuertes. El AKG trabaja en unas frecuencias entre 15-25000 Hz y los SENNHEISER 12- 38500 Hz. Por la comodidad pues los dos son lo bastante cómodos ya que están construidos en materiales de plástico de calidad por lo que pesan poco AKG 240grs. SENNHEISER 250grm. El diseño de los SENNHEISER ayudan a que el sonido se envuelva y vaya más directo a los oídos. Los dos vienen con dos cables desmontables con diferentes tipos de jack aunque el AKG le conexión al mismo es con entrada mini XLR por lo que si en un futuro tienes algún problema es más difícil de encontrar. El SENNHEISER solo trae las almohadillas que vienen montadas en material aterciopelado muy buenas al tacto también te cubren las orejas en su totalidad tambiénayuda su diseño (Existe recambio). Los AKG traen dos tipos unos en piel sintética que ayudan a producir sudor y otras aterciopelada estas no cubren en totalidad las orejas por su diseño circular distintos a los SENNHEISER que son avaladas. Debemos de tener muy en cuenta que los dos son auriculares no cerrados por lo que sale sonido al exterior y también entra sonido también del exterior (Aconsejo utilizarlos en el interior) Por lo que ayudan a reducir la fatiga y se pueda estar más tiempo utilizándolos. Si puedes esperar a que Amazon tenga en oferta los SENNHEISER te saldrán algo más económicos que los AKG y en verdad os digo que merece la pena. Yo los he comprado a 79,99 € cuando su precio oscila en cualquier tienda a 170. Los AKG por su parte tienen un precio de 77 € Espero que mi reseña os ayuden.

Having owned the Sony WH1000XM6 and also the Sennheiser Momentum 4's, I can say these cans are superb! But that needs some explanation. There is no app (I'm aware of at least) for these, as with the Momentum 4's. They are not "fancy"- but are incredibly comfy! I wear 2 "behind the ear" hearing aids and often readers too and I can wear these all day. Because the pads are so large and the way they are angled, means that for the FIRST time - ever - I can turn up my hearing aids without constant squealing in my ears! Is that extra volume impacting my sense of the sound? Probably. But that IS still the point because these are thus far - the only cans I am able to do this with. So, it IS the headphones. Then there is the mid-range clarity and highs - WOW! Out of the box these are not as "bass-forward" as the XM6's - but with either an EQ on your phone, tablet or external DAC, they can be, without being muddy or thumpy. And once boosted there is PLENTY of tight, full, satisfying bass that is still controlled and not booming. I am running a $58 small AIYIMA DAC that sounds phenomenal with these cans. Listening to "No Easy Way Out" (Robert Tepper from "Rocky IV") sounds incredible! The opening bass/drum section sounds full, tight, dynamic. "Africa" and "Hold the Line" by Toto have never sounded better to my ears. The bass is full, warm and tight. Trebles have excellent clarity without being harsh. I got these on sale and unless the HD600 line *truly* blows these away - maybe so - why pay more? "I'm In A Hurry" by Alabama, it’s opening vocal intro sounds amazing. "500 Miles" by the Proclaimers when the bass and drum "kick in" (sorry), sound incredible! I can go on and on. "Everything I Do" by Bryan Adams or “God Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts sound pristine, clear, rich, balanced and nuanced...my favorite instrumental music with piano / cello and acoustic guitar sound remarkable. Even more so - to my surprise - on You Tube. Playing games on my PC is a new experience - especially in the ability to hear "directional" sounds etc. The XM6's have more "punch" in the sounds of guns, explosions, but don't have the clarity or directional element as these do. Having now experienced this difference, I MUCH prefer it! Dolby Atmos tracks in Movies on Apple TV, Prime, Netflix sound detailed, rich, balanced, warm. These are my first experience in the "open back" headphone field and I can honestly say, I AM impressed! IF - just saying IF I return these, it will ONLY be to experience an even higher level of "audiophile" sound in the HD600 series. Seriously - if GOOD SOUND quality really matters to you at your desk, in your room, or office where you will not disturb others around you with the sound "bleed" that comes from the open backs, you owe it to yourself to try these! I prefer these in every way to my XM6's and paid approx 1/3rd the price for them! Sure, they do not have ANC - but who buys open back headphones for that feature?

Well after falling in all the hype about combining a capable enough dsp dac amp with an open back headphone a person is propelled into a world of blissful surround sounds i decided to try this hands down once and for all. After about half an hour of burning the headphones in with some 24bit Flac songs i went ahead to test it. Played multiple songs and movies via the Walkman , X3 amp , Note 9 phone. First impressions: Build : The build quality is excellent, it's all plastic that seems like it is made to last and keep it light for comfort. The mechanism also feels reliable. So 5/5 Comfort: Very good , not fatigued after 1 hour , No unwarranted peaks in any frequencies. Its winters here in the north so it also doubled up as a scarf insulating my ears from the peircing cold. Sound isolation: Well what would one expect from an open back , it's terrible. But it is what it is. You have to be alone and in a quite environment to listen to these. Sound will leak both ways. Package contents: Well the box that comes with it is unimpressive, it is a waste like soft cardboard box which is labeled as "frustration free" packaging, it's all nonsense. If it was a good quality box one would use it to keep the headphones after use safely,and won't throw it away. No i will have to purchase a headphone case adding more to the environmental damage. You get two cables one being a 6mm and one 3.5mm with a 6mm to3.5mm converter plug. Sennheiser took good care in that area. Sound : Well i come from using the following in order of magnitude Most vintage models of Sony tape walkman headphones and earphones Mdr xb 60ex Mdr xb500 Mdr xb 90ex Mdr xb 75ap ( Skull rattler ) Mdr ex220 Asus rog headset Xba H3 ( My personal favorite in all areas ) Shure se 846 ( Skull breaker , My almost perfect set but gets beaten in High frequency department) As you can see there is only two over the ear headphones. Now i have always been disappointed by the music of over the head headphones due to lack of proper Isolation and driver limitations. Being my first open back This HD559 is no different to closed back in music department. Music coming out of it is unimpressive , you get almost no proper bass rumbles in the tracks that have them but maybe it's my fault. (more on that later). The soundstage although quite good does not impress you enough to warrant the sacrifice in sound isolation and lower frequencies. Sometimes some songs get tinny and empty, sometimes they come out good but never great. Apart from that i maybe wrong with my eqs and settings i will update after a week of listening. Movies : WTF This has blown all my in ear headphones far away , nothing comes close to the immersive theater like experience while pairing it with the X3 amp and switching on the xfi. You are instantly placed in a premium position of a proper dts tuned theater seat. All the action is all around you and dialog of the actors are clear and crisp even during intense explosions and gunfire. Things are properly imaged bodies dropping to the ground , bullets whirring past you thunders in the sky everything is represented perfectly. Imaging is more vertical than horizontal. Now the bass : While the music had no bass on it , on movies while on xfi turned on the bass reaches skull rattling levels without getting distorted or overlapping any other frequencies. It is unreal and brings a huge smile on your face and the only reason i did not return these back. The explosions shake you bullets fired seem real , thunders are near to being real. For movies this is the ultimate solution for me the END GAME so to say. Haven't tested it yet on games but have heard quite a praise for them in that regard. Conclusion: These mysterious headphones struggle to pump up the proper bass notes on music but will pummel your head in movies. Maybe i am doing something wrong on my amp but i have tried to bring it on the music by various ways. The world shattering bass is there waiting to be unleashed but with mysterious ways. The mids are perfect for both Male and females all the frequencies are present and quite powerful. The highs are a bit laid back and roll off at the highest levels quite quickly , whenever you will need them desperately they will bail out on you. But overall they are fine. Is it worth the money ?. For movies absolutely. 100% For music Maybe For games , haven't tested yet but i am confident they will excel in that department. Very good product. Highly satisfied.
