Been riding and racing for over twenty years. Was never really particular about bar tapes. Never had to spend more than twenty bucks. Then decided to go black after years of white bontrager bar tape. Thought about supacaz with its hype and good reviews. But couldn’t justify spending 30+ $$. Then came across this Alien Pros for $12.49 with excellent reviews. I’m very impressed. For the price, it’s very good quality. Easy to install. Very strong (stretch the heck out of it). The feel is tacky enough, and comfy. The adhesive sticks. Seriously folks. I really don’t see how the Alien Pros guys sell this bar tape for cheap, cuz it should be 3X $$$ as much!! Save yourself some cash and get this bar tape! You won’t regret it.

The two rolls of tape came with cheap plastic plugs for the ends, black tape to finish the top end, and a peel-off strip on the underside to reveal a sticky center line. The tape itself has a good tiny dot-like texture and grippy feel. There is a slight padding effect with the thickness of the tape but it is not bulky. I would not hesitate to recommend this brand in black, though I don't have experience with colored tape which may have a different texture.

nice pattern but not very cushiony, does stretch well to allow for the pattern to continue up the bars. not great on the hands for long rides.

I installed these on a trainer bike that sees a lot of sweaty hands. I don’t wear gloves either. So far it is holding up well. To me, it’s nicer than foam as that is too thick because a wide aero bar becomes wider with foam tape. This has the right amount of thickness. I really like the texture. It has somewhat of a high end matte leather car interior feel to it. It’s grippy but has a smoothness to it. I don’t think I’ll ever buy a 50 dollar set of supacaz tape because that’s just insane. These are pretty nice and the price is right.

For years now (since working in the bike industry) I've known that the cheapest bar tape you can find is often the best. This is no exception. Easy to install (as any tape, way easier than rigid Supacaz), actually had working adhesive (buy from CompetitiveCyclist and you'll understand, they sell used bar tape), and is superbly comfortable with just one layer. I ride with gloves most of the time, but this tape is comfortable without. A typical ride is 1.5 hours, gloved or gloveless, and I don't notice any unusual hand pain like I got with Supacaz. Take the advice of someone who worked in the industry, buy cheap and enjoy your ride! You can replace this tape every year and it'll be around four years before you match the outrageous price of some other tapes.

Decent padded bar tape. Self glue strip will peel completely off if you aggressively tear the paper backing off. Not sure but seems the two spools may have been two different lengths. The hood tape is garbage. Usually they are strips of the same bar tape but the enclosed strips are just thin black plastic tape. End caps are plastic press in junk. Tape is easy to wrap though and looks good. Stretches without tearing while wrapping.

I use this to cover up the transition between handle and stick on my cane and its worked incredibly well. The material is soft and padded, gives a good grip without rubbing at your fingers. It was easy to apply, though I didn’t love that the edges don’t stick down, only the middle does.

I'm used to wrapping Cinnelli cork tape and my road (not gravel) bars are 42cm wide. It took some careful and somewhat aggressive stretching to make it to the "end point" on the bar tops. hese bars have a flat spot on the drops with a bump in the middle, meaning that you have to overlap a bit more than normal in order to avoid wrinkles & kinks. With some careful stretching and rewrapping I made them work. The peel back center adhesive stripe is a good balance of grip while still allowing you to re-do your work. If they were a bit longer, they'd be perfect, but I'll definitely buy again when the time comes. I can't speak to wet grip because (a) I just wrapped the bars, and (b) I don't ride in the rain (unless it starts to rain mid-ride).

The tape feels solid and was easy enough to wrap on. It's been on for about 20 riding hours now and feels nice to my hands and looks neat. Can't speak to longevity yet, but so far so good.
