[ Magnector X ] High Performance Sony Xperia Z1 / Z2 / Z1S / Z3 Compact Magnetic Charging Adapter for Micro USB Cable - Enhanced Magnetic Connection and Charging Speed [ Black ]

I am using this adapter with an orange Z3 Compact and a smoke grey Ringke Fusion case and it works great. I have no problem getting a flush connection to the phone even with the case on, and it seems to charge very quickly. I was previously using the Sony DK48 dock, but with the case on, I cannot use the spacers, which results in a weird fit (sometimes it locks in first try, sometimes I wiggle it around to catch the magnet). Since I do not actually use the dock for anything other than charging (i.e., not activating Daydream mode/ using it as a clock at night), this adapter and the USB cable are going to become the standard charging method. I have seen some reviews saying this does not fit their phone, but I assure you it works on a Z3 Compact, with and without a case. The magnet is quite strong- I can pinch the adapter and lift the phone and it stays connected and charging. Please note you do not want the magnet *too strong* as you do not want to be forcefully ripping it away from the phone just to release it. I cannot speak for full size Z3 phones (international unlocked, T-Mobile, or Verizon's Z3v) but I would recommend this to any Z3 Compact owner. Even though my case does allow normal USB port access, the magnet charger is the way to go!

Update: Device defect. Sony holds the port with glue. Takes 14 days for a repair to be performed + shipping times. That is if Sony thinks it's their fault. I did a search and this problem is common in the Z2 too... ________________________________ Update: After about 2 weeks of having it, it yanked out the magnetic port on my Z3. When charging I always leave it in the desk and the port is flat so there is no way that an external force did this (example getting pulled by accident at weird angles couldn't break anything because this is hold my magnetism). I think the magnet is too strong don't what to say from this issue besides BEWARE. My phone is the Tmobile Z3 so it barely has a month with me... _____________________________ It is solid, doesn't feel cheap and delicate. It fits perfectly on my bugdroid case (minimalist case) but I doubt it would fit on a big case since the charger goes parallel to the phone. If it went perpendicular it would fit perfecly in any case. The magnet is strong and secure I would say it feels like a Macbook charger, it has the right strength for a secure connection and to allow for a disconnection in case someone tumbles on the cable. Overall 10/10

This charger works well, and met my expectations. I now no longer have to charge my phone through the USB port. This way, I will not compromise the water seal. I have been using the connector for over one month and am largely happy. Charging works well, but unlike other reviewers I have not noticed a significantly faster charge time. A small problem I've had is with the strength of the magnet. It does attach firmly to the phone, however it is difficult to make a phone call while charging. As it protrudes from the phone your hand knocks it out of place. A recommendation I have is that you use longer USB charge cables that are not too rigid. I found that shorter cables (that are typically more rigid) could result in any movement of the phone dislodging the connector, even when the phone is laying flat. That is, if you use a rigid cable and rotate your phone to see the time, the connector can come off and interrupt charging. This happened a lot when I first started using it, but then I switched to a longer cable and had no problems since. Some reviewers have complained about overheating of the adapter, but I had no such experiences to date.

First magnetic connector I've been able to use for a phone and I like the idea. Unfortunately this falls out of the socket a lot easier than I'd like. I don't use a case with my phone so there is nothing to get in the way and cause issue(s). The connection is just OK, but unless I have my phone on a flat surface the connector won't stay seated in the socket. In my car if I put it on the passenger seat to charge it falls out in no time. Also if there is a slight amount of tension on the charging cable it seems to disconnect easily as well. Luckily the phone has spectacular battery life so charging in the car is not needed very often. Overall, wish the magnet was a bit stronger and seems a bit overpriced for $15, but at the same time enjoy the convenience of not having to use USB micro port and not worrying about accidentally damaging the port.

After my Micro SD slot kept falling from its place every once in a while, I decided to buy a replacement for the slot and use a magnetic charger from now on. This item is great since you can disconnect it from a regular charger and use it for other phones. Plus it is cheaper than buying a new magnetic charger which cannot be detached. The charging rate is not bad, however I feel that it is a bit slower than using a regular micro usb. The magnet is strong and does the job perfectly. I bought two of these magnetic extensions and couldn't be happier. Delivery time was very convenient. I would strongly suggest this item for more convenience while charging the phone.

I purchased this connector to use with an Xperia Z3 Compact in a Cruzerlite Bugdroid Circuit Case . I'm happy to report that this connector will still charge the phone, BUT there's a caveat: the cable end of the connector is held up a little bit by the case. Fortunately the magnet is strong enough to for at least one end of the connector to maintain a physical connection and allow for charging. Basically there's simply not enough vertical clearance built into the connector to fully compensate for the additional thickness of a majority of cases. All that aside, this is a marvelous adapter IF you plan on charging your phone as-is. The magnet is strong and easy to attach, microUSB cables fit reassuringly into it, and overall it feels like a quality product.

This works great for my Xperia Z Ultra, but because of the flat design, I've had to trim away at my case to open up a large area all around the charging pins on my phone to actually get this to work. Personally, I don't mind hacking up my case, as it's worth it for me to have the option of being able to pull of the magnetic charger to use the mini usb port for other phones. Others might find it to be a deal breaker, in which case they should get something that sticks out more so that they can use their case unaltered. The magnet is very strong and it's easy to line up with the pins. I wish that Sony would just add wireless charging to their phones, but this is a great alternative to having to open up the mini usb port.

Edit 2/12/2015: Bought Magnector X2. This still does not hug the contours of the phone, but relies on stronger magnet to keep it on. It does stay on unlike the last one, but I worry about it ripping the charging base off like other reviews say. They should really make ones for each version of the phone as they have different dimensions. If the plastic part made contact with the case, less magnetic strength would be necessary as less torque would be applied to the charger when moved. If you look at the Apple magsafe connector it fits exactly in the case thus needing not as much strength to keep it on. This still does not really fit the phone as there is a gap between where the plastic is, and the phone when fully connected. Edit: As with all Chinese products on here from multiple vendors it is hard to know what you are getting when they do not break up the listing. The one I bought in Dec 2014 said Z3 compatible but it is barely so. I am going to give the newly listed Magnector x2 a try as the picture indicates it is different. Product "B00JEN5S6A" is not a good fit at all for Z3 and was what my review was posted for. As others have said it does not fit the z3. Sure it can go on there and charge, but since the surrounding of the plug does not sit flush with the phone case, the slightest movement makes it disconnect. I opened this and threw away the packaging so a waste of money for me. I am going to try to modify it to fit but stay away from this product if you have a Z3
