why does this apron leave alot of resedu on your shirt. after i took the apron off my whole shirt was orange from it?

Because it is dyed leather. You can rinse it in warm/hot water until dye no longer comes out in the rinse water

What's the thickness of this welding apron?

I’m not sure about thickness exactly. About 1/8” maybe , but It’s thick enough so the sparks from welding and soldering won’t go through.
