17,000 gal pool var 2 speed pump
This worked perfectly. I was losing water level and my hot tub that is attached to my pool. Spring on the previous five was visibly broken. I bought this part, took off the clear plastic part, used it and the internal attached valve to replace the broken one. Holes lined up perfectly with the old part. Completely fixed my problem and hot tub is now holding water at the appropriate level.

Good quality and not too restrictive.
I have only had it for a few months, so I cannot comment on how long the metal spring will last (this seems to be the big problem with these valves: corrosion of the springs), however, I can say that the quality seems very good. This valve will add a bit of a restriction to your system, but not nearly as much as other types of check valves.

Is it supposed to leak a little?
Just got two of these, brand new. Filling both of them up with water, each of them leak through the flaps, steadily, with two streams. The rubber cover has tiny holes, which align with the holes on the plastic flap. Is this intentional? Are these supposed to allow a little drainage backwards?

Direct replacement
I needed to replace the check valve in my pool filter piping. This was the best value I found. I only needed the check valve flapper, but buying the entire assembly was a better price and an easy replacement. I simply removed the eight screws from the valve, removed the clear plastic cover and spring-loaded flap and replaced the old one with it. It does not bother me that I now have an extra black plastic housing. I might need it some day.

1/3 the price!
All I needed was the removable clear valve. My pool store wanted $149.99. I got the complete valve assembly for $49 and it's original.

READ THE BELOW,BEFORE YOU PURCHASE. This is what just happenned to me.
Beware. I bought this Check Valve thinking it was a High end one, being a Pentair. Was I wrong. I purchased it, June 26th 2016. Installed it a couple of days later, which was June 29th. After the install I turned the pump on and off to see if it worked, and it was working perfect. I checked the next day as well, again no problems. On July 7th I anted to check it but the pump was running, flapper was open which was normal. Later after the pump shut off automatically, I went to look at it and I saw water in the pipe and I could see the flapper was open. I got a Philips Head screw driver, unscrewed the 8 screws and the clear plastic lid came off. I was in shock to be honest when I looked at the Flapper and the spring. Not only was the spring broken, snapped in half but it was so corroded. It did not seem possible I kept thinking. Maybe it was a defective unit or maybe it was not. Regardless the spring was corroded. A little over a week and it is broken, at a cost of $46.23 cents. My whole system is Pentair, including my Intelliflo variable speed pump. I bought the check valve as I have always had Pentair, as they never give me any problems. Amazon offered either a refund or replacement. I took the refund as I will no longer use the or any Chlorinator.I uninstalled the chlorinator too after cutting out the check valve. Now I see why Pool Heaters get destroyed if you use a Chlorinator, without a check valve. I will now go back to my old and trusty Floatable Chlorinator you put in the pool. No longer will I worry.
