>> COMPARISON WITH OSTER BLSPB-WBL MY BLENDE
IN SHORT โ The Oster is the choice make a smoothie from milk, yogurt, or a similar liquid, optionally mixing-in a powder or a small amount of berries or other soft fruit, to take with you on the road, to work, etc. The Hamilton Beach is a better choice for home use or travel. DESIGN โ The Hamilton Beach is essentially a miniature inexpensive traditional blender. The Oster is a smoothie mixer. APPEARANCE โ The Oster looks more impressive. The Hamilton Beach looks inexpensive. OPERATION โ Both are one-speed only. To operate the Hamilton Beach, you seat the container, and push the button, just like a traditional blender. The Hamilton Beach button is โpress and hold to operateโ, so you can pulse (best for chopping up chunks of fruit, etc). To operate the Oster, you push down the bottle into the blender and slightly rotate โ pulsing is a awkward operation. BLENDER PORTABILITY โ The Oster is a counter-top appliance โ it is large, heavy, and there is no provision for stowing the cord. The Hamilton Beach is light, compact, and has built-in cord storage. You could even pack the Hamilton Beach in your luggage for a trip. CONTAINER/BOTTLE PORTABILITY โ The Oster bottle is highly portable, and will fit into car bottle holders โ it fits well in your hand to drink from, even while driving. The Hamilton Beach container is less portable, because the base narrows and the blades are part of the container โ it would not be ideal to drink from while driving. SAFETY โ The blades of the Hamilton Beach are permanently installed in the bottom of container โ so you canโt easily cut yourself with them. The blades of the Oster are part of a cap-like device that you have to leave on the counter or store separately when the bottle is in use โ the blades stick up and are a potential hazzard. CLEANING โ Never put any part of either in a dishwasher. For both, normally, the best way to clean them is to โblendโ a cup or so of water in the container/bottle when you are finished mixing/blending. But you canโt do that if the container/bottle is in use. Thatโs more of a problem for the Oster, simply because the bottle is likely to be in use until the end of the day. If you let residue dry in the container/bottle, the tall skinny Oster bottle is more difficult to clean. The blades of the Oster need to be cleaned immediately, but since the blades are not part of the bottle (which is in use) there is no easy way to do so, other than perhaps with a toothbrush (or if you buy an extra bottle for the purpose). The blades of the Hamilton Beach are not accessible and therefore are more difficult to clean if you allow food to dry on them โ but thatโs less of a problem because the blades will stay moist as long as there is smoothie in the container, or the container is capped. BLENDING โ Except for a small amount of soft fruit, the Oster is a mixer, NOT a blender. The Hamilton Beach can do a good job of blending soft materials (e.g., blueberries or peaches into milk or yogart), but it is not a food processor or juice maker โ it doesnโt do a good job of blending hard, or tough, or stringy materials such as carrots, celery, or kale. BOTTLE VISIBILITY โ The Oster bottle is pretty, but you canโt see what you are trying to mix/blend well. WHY ISNโT THE OSTER A GOOD BLENDER? โ The blades are larger, and the motor seems more powerful. The problem is the method of operation (see above) and the design of the bottle. The containers of traditional blenders (including the โHamilton Beach Smoothie Blenderโ) are relatively short, with ribs or scallops, to direct the flow back through the blades. The tall, skinny, smooth, tinted bottle of the Oster is very poorly designed for blending.

Love this Litte Blender
This is a super little blender. It does a good job of mixing up soft smoothies. Meaning those kind of smoothies with mostly soft and easy to blend up ingredients. It can take crushed ice and make it smaller but it has a rough time with full size ice cubes. The driving force for the blades is plastic and be aware that it will eventually break under heavy usage. I like this little blender just because it's so easily portable and lightweight. You can mix something up real easy do a quick rinse and then throw a little extra water and soap inside and blend that and rinse it again and it's completely clean! I got a second one as a gift for a friend's birthday because she liked mine so much. Again, don't expect this to be a Workhorse! I have one of the big brand names that begins with the letter n and that has a super duper motor and Metal drive train type deal and that thing will last forever. But for convenience and quick and easy to use, I reach for this little Hamilton Beach blender each and every time.

Love it
Perfect for protein shakes. It is sturdy and big enough for a tall mug or just drink the shake from the jar jar measuring lines eliminate guesswork. Measuring lines on the front of the durable blending jar eliminate the need for extra measuring cups. Quickly prepare smoothies, icy drinks, protein shakes, milkshakes, salad dressings, baby food and more by just pressing the button on the Hamilton Beach personal blender. It's so simple. Made from hard plastic which makes it shatterproof

Good for single servings, but lid design is a big flaw
This works fine for single-serving protein shakes and smoothies. Itโs very lightweight, which makes it convenient for quick use. For simple blends, it does the job. However, the motor doesnโt seem very strong. If you blend for too long, thereโs a noticeable smell. The biggest issue is the lid. Itโs very flimsy and thereโs nothing locking it in place. It just kind of sits on top, so it comes off very easily. Thereโs a drink opening built in, but I donโt recommend using it. I accidentally knocked mine over and the lid popped right off since thereโs nothing securing it, and my smoothie went everywhere. Total mess. Overall, itโs okay for light, quick shakes or smoothies, but the lid design really needs improvement.

A great little blender
Well I just had to go back in my order history to find this little champ that I have been using for over a year now. I originally bought this because it was a cheap unit just to see if I would use it. Well I use it almost every day for frozen fruit smoothies and making pesto and it works great. Maybe more expensive ones would perform faster and I will upgrade if/when the time comes, but this little thing doesn't seem to want to quit.

I am shocked at all the great reviews, unless I just ended up with a particularly bad unit. I was not expecting much from such an "affordable" blender - but the only reason for my purchase was to blend a single orange a couple of times a day. Not an apple, or carrots, but a single juicy orange. An inexpensive blender could do that, right? Well, technically, it can - with quite a bit of help. I would have to cut up the orange into pieces and make sure some were under the blades. OK, I understand why that would be as it would need something to catch onto when starting to blend. But, then I would have to repeatedly stop the blender and push more of the orange down under the blades - have to do this quite a few times, mushing the orange into more juice as I did it. I have done this twice a day for a couple of weeks. When I look at the base of the unit, it has a lot of white, fuzzy stuff all around the base of the unit. There are also tinges of green. The white particles are coming from the white plastic base attached to the motor. The green pieces are coming from the green, soft material attached to the blender cup. You can easily see the wear of both of these on the unit, so I would expect it not to last long. It might have performed well if I had added a good amount of water or other liquids to it -- but my expectations was that any blender should be able to blend something as soft and juicy as an orange without it causing wear and tear on the blades. I would usually end up with about 8 ounces, and I did not want watered down orange juice from having to add more liquid. As far as the lid goes, I only used it to blend with. I honestly would not trust it staying on when turning up to drink from because it only pushes on without a locking device. That was OK with me since it made it easier to take on and off to keep pushing the orange down into the blades. Also, I would pour the blended orange into another cup. I will try a different blender with higher wattage - turns out this one is only 175 watts. If I try one that is around 350 watts and it does not work well, then I should edit this review to reflect that - but hopefully I can find a small one to blend a single orange! Again, maybe tuis was just defective somehow to start with? I had ordered the blue one, and I will say I think the color is very nice.

Excelente producto
