Great Party Game!
LOVE this game! It’s great for parties, family get-togethers etc. I would describe it as a Charades/Catchphrase Combo. Each person picks a certain amount of descriptive cards, they all go in a stack and then players take turns trying to get their team to guess the words written on the card to earn points. 1st round : Player can say any phrases to describe the card WITHOUT saying the actual thing on the card (obviously) 2nd round : Player can only use ONE WORD to get their team to guess the card 3rd Round: Charades- you act the card out. The pile of cards stays the same throughout the rounds so guessing gets easier since you remember cards from previous rounds. All in all this game is easy to learn and you can control the difficulty based on the cards each player chooses to go into the main deck. I’ve played it with people from ages 10-80 and have never laughed so much during a game. Moody teenagers and grandparents alike enjoyed it and seeing my father in law trying to act out the iconic flash dance water scene was worth the game price. Get it for a good time you won’t regret it.

Great game for a group of 6+, and totally packable too.
This game is so fun and easy to learn and explain. At first you’re like “whaaaat that’s impossible.” Just trust the process, you’ll get the hang of it so easily. Everyone I’ve played it with goes on to purchase their own. You split into two teams, so I will say, it’s most fun to play it with 6+ people in my experience because it’s best to give clues to more than one person. 5 people works great if you don’t mind having a double agent play for both teams. Personally, I love guessing so much that I almost prefer when I get to be a double agent. That being said, I’ve still played with 4 people, it’s just not as fun because your one teammate might not be well versed in certain areas and may not be able to guess. I’ve even managed to find a variation where just my husband and I will play. Everyone I’ve played it with goes in to buy their own because it’s so much fun. It’s a great game to bring traveling as it’s quite portable and packs easily in a suitcase. It’s got a great pace, not too long and not too short, and we almost always want to play another round.

You’ll be crying with laughter
Drop everything you’re doing and order this game now. We played this for a girls weekend, and we were falling down cry-laughing. I also brought it into work for a birthday party, and my boss was literally crying with laughter. But be warned! There are an NSFW cards, so take those out before you have an embarrassing moment with your boss lol. Best party game I’ve played in years! This game is played in three rounds. You take a stack of cards and divide into teams. The first round is sort of like the game Taboo, where you are trying to get your team to guess the phrase on the card. Get through as many cards as you can in 60 seconds. Those that your team can’t guess are added to the bottom of the pile and passed to the next team. The pile goes back back-and-forth until all the cards are guessed. The second round, you use the same cards that you just used in the first round, but this time you can only say one word to get the team to guess the phrase. The third round is charades. Same cards, same teams. Now that you have an idea of what the phrases are, you’d think it would be easy to act them out! This is where the cry laughter comes in. Have fun!

Extremely well designed game, however be aware of reading difficulties and references that may not translate to all ages.
After an enthusiastic review of Monikers on Shut Up and Sit Down, I knew I had to have this game. It's essentially Charades/Celebrities, but vastly improved, and with updated characters. The game has hundreds of cards, and each has a lovely little description of a character to help you in the first round. They range anywhere from Nyancat to Nobody to Tom Selleck's Moustache, in a hilarious reference filled romp through popular culture. First round everyone can use a full sentence to describe the character. Second round, they may only use one word. Third round, can only be acting a la charades. Fourth (optional) round can be one sound, one face action, etc. Since you play with the same deck, your knowledge of the deck improves with each round, but your information about the current card that is being acted out becomes significantly harder. Competitive play is two groups against each other in 1 minute rounds, while cooperative allows one minute per card for the three rounds. We played both, and coop especially was a blast, as you spent time laughing instead of watching the time. We recommend a coop house rule where if the card cannot be guessed, it is kept and passed along to the next player. The look of realisation on their face is priceless! There are some small issues that may arise when playing the game. One of course, is long-term replayability, as the deck is seen. That said, we played a few rounds where similar cards were used, and they played entirely differently. Another is playing with people who may not get all the references in the deck, which may hinder enjoyment. Finally, if there are difficulties with reading, or bad light, it becomes a tad harder to play the game. All in all, a beautifully designed and extremely fun game. Very much recommended!

The best party game for gatherings in history
I'm an avid gamer and have always been my families & friend group supplier of games during any get togethers, have played a ton over the past few decades. I can confidently say that this game takes the top spot as the best party game there is. For anyone who has friends or family that likes common games such as charades or Taboo, this one's for you, it's the best party game that exists. Pros: Easy to teach, very accessible Very fun for different age groups Also very fun if alcohols involved Quick and easy to get everything out High replayability Cons: Some of the words are dumb and too uncommon IMO, but you can easily remove from the deck though as needed.

A really fun game. My friends and I have had laugh ...
A really fun game. My friends and I have had laugh attacks because of this game. Good quality cards. And a lot random people/things. A lot of the cards also have descriptions if you have no idea what they are. The game is made so that you don't have to initially know what some of the people/things are. As the game progresses, you will eventually learn these random cards. Game goes through three rounds of description from taboo style describing to charades using the same deck of cards. But, there are options to go beyond that if you really want to. You can look up the rules online to find out how it can expand to more rounds. Only thing that stops me from giving it 5 stars is that it's not a fresh concept. It's a game that I have essentially played when I was younger with scraps of paper. BUT, I still do think it's worth it to buy these cards. They have different point levels depending on the difficulty, and it's just part of the fun to see what random people/items were deemed worthy of being made into these cards.

like "The astronaut who chased her ex-boyfriend across the country ...
Monikers is more interactive and definitely more tasteful than Cards Against Humanity, but it can often get just as messed up (if you have the right -- or wrong -- group of people). Everyone draws cards and picks X number of cards based on whatever criteria they wish (humor, familiarity, etc). These cards will be placed together to create the deck for the game. You split into two teams, with each person on each team taking turns as the speaker or performer. The goal is to have your team guess as many cards as you can for the most points. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. One game consists of three basic rounds. Each round is played until all cards in the deck have been guessed and placed into a team's score pile. After each round, you count up the round's scores and reshuffle the deck to start the next round: Round 1 -- Basically, Taboo+. You can say anything, do anything, make any sounds, as long as you don't read the name of the card itself. The card titles can be anything from a celebrity ("Michael J. Fox") to a pop culture reference ("Lady Gaga's meat dress") to something ridiculously difficult to guess, like "The astronaut who chased her ex-boyfriend across the country while wearing diapers" (or something like that...). Round 2 -- You can only make ONE sound or say ONE word, no gestures, nothing. This is one of the most hilarious parts of the game. Once I kept screaming "Russia" in an accent to try to get my team to guess "Catherine the Great." It's awful, difficult, but so gratifying when your team gets it! Your group will undoubtedly make inside jokes and really screwed up references during this round. Round 3 -- Charades! Now you have to act out the cards, which can prove to be very easy for some cards and impossible for others. ---- Overall, the game is a blast. Monikers also comes with a "variations" list -- ways you can switch up the game to keep its replay value at the highest. And they have an expansion pack out with another one on the way. Definitely a keeper!

"Monikers: The Hilarious Game That Turns Your Friends into Comedy Legends"
Monikers is the party game hero we didn't know we needed but are eternally grateful for. Imagine your normally reserved mates suddenly turning into mime artists, attempting to act out "Kanye West." I'm talking more flailing than a koala trying to do the backstroke. 😂 Our night started off like any other Aussie gathering, but Monikers swooped in like a kangaroo on a trampoline, transforming our evening from a potential snooze-fest into an absolute riot. Watching someone try to mime "David Hasselhoff" without saying "Baywatch" was pure comedy gold. I laughed so hard, I nearly snorted my drink. Seriously, I think I pulled a muscle from all the laughing. Seeing my mate Rob—who's usually as chill as an echidna in a sunbeam—air-guitaring to convey "Taylor Swift" was a sight I’ll never forget. His passionate strumming was so intense, it was like watching a wombat play the didgeridoo. 🤣 The laughter was unstoppable, and even the pizza delivery bloke joined in for a round. We played for hours, so much so that I thought we might need a paramedic on standby from all the gut-busting laughs. If only Monikers could handle the aftermath of the mess, it'd be the ultimate party MVP. 🤷♂️
