Perfect for bulb planting and no need to bend down
Bought for the wife who is constantly adding Bluebells and Snowdrops to our woodland garden and spends most of the time digging the bulbs in with a trowel on her knees. The length of this auger enables her to stand and drill multiple holes in a group very quickly and then simply drop the bulbs in and back-fill. It makes the job so much easier, quicker and more consistent. The only observation is that you need to ‘hold’ the drill-bit back to prevent it from simply drilling in too deeply without removing the soil. If you lift the drill up and down as you go this will ensure the hole is cleared of soil and not suddenly swallow the auger bit. It would also have been helpful if the blades had extended longer up the shaft to enable deeper holes for stakes but this is its secondary use as the increased ease for bulb planting is its forte. Well made with solid shaft unlike some other hollow versions and the diameter of the hole is perfect for dropping a bulb in and allowing your pinched fingers to press in the soil behind it. Not had it long enough to have encountered any issues apart from hitting the odd tree root and having to back out and move the spot over. Used with a an old corded drill and long extension lead as this drill has a side handle for steady control and a speed limiter on it so it could be set not to run away and bury itself more quickly. Good tool and well worth having in the shed. I’m no gardener but the wife would spend all day on the garden if she could and she really likes using it and has planted many bulbs since getting it.

Surprisingly good and well made for its price point, fits a standard drill
I wasnt holding out much hope for this auger bit, but the quality was certainly good enough and it did what i needed easily, actually very easily saving loads of messing about and time. I wanted to put up 4 50mm round poles to mount garden lights on and couldnt face digging the baked hard soil and this lil thing just ploughed right through ( or should i say down) digging a round hole 7-8 inches deep starter hole. which was more than enough to support the pole after a few taps with a lump hammer and jobs done. 4 poles in the ground, lights up and coffee still too hot to drink, it took minutes. top job No issues with minor stones and no damage done to the auger, so if your working on planting bulbs etc in softer soil this will be brilliant if not overkill, not heavy enough to be an issue in a cordless drill so perfectly portable. Ideal for anyone who hates hard work or messing about and i can see it being wonderful for those who want to do more in the garden but find it hard work ( like me) its effortless

Good price and product, with limitations
The auger is designed to fit into an electric drill having a hexagonal top for the chuck to grip. As a side note, this ideally should be a mains powered drill or at least have a spare, charged battery to hand. The auger digs in very well and the ‘business end’ stands up to punishment well. That unfortunately cannot be said for the hexagonal end as this, in my case, quickly rounded making the augur unable to be driven and spinning in the chuck at quite low torque when for instance encountering damp clay soil or a small root. All this to say that, for the price, it has done its job, but don’t expect ‘industrial’ quality.

I've used this a lot already
Originally bought to drill post holes in the ground, it worked really well. It's strong and good quality, so made light of the job. You do need to be careful not to drill too fast as it can wrench your hand when the bit gets stuck in the ground and the drill starts to turn instead of the bit. It was the perfect size for the posts that I used. I also used it to take an old post out of the ground by drill around it to loosen all the compacted soil. The post was soon loosened enough to be able to pull it out with ease. Great value item.

A useful augur
Manufacturing quality was excellent. The tool can be used to plant bulbs, but longer ones are available for fence posts, washing line poles etc.

Not worth the expense
Would be great in soft soil but if the soil is soft there would be no need to use this. If the ground is hard and stoney it's as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Very disappointing

Kicks up a bit of earth and hits stones so you need to be aware
Wear a mask because it kicks up earth but other than that brilliant I planted crown imperials an alliums all very large bulbs needing deep holes and so much easier than trying to dig holes manually. Small great for daffy etc and bigger one for large and extra large bulbs. I’m thrilled as I’m disabled so this was a game changer for me and I just have a small drill 18vts

Works fine in softer ground
Worls well enough on softer stone free ground. Did find it can snatch if it hit an obstruction. Well built and appears to be durable. Rarely for Amazon the original delivery date was missed but made it before the revised date.

Klare Kaufempfehlung

Performed well.
I have heavy clay. I pre- soaked the 25 areas I wanted to drill, ideally 2’ deep. Sometimes the bentonite in the soil prevented that depth. The rare rock seriously impeded use. Do not use if rocky soil. I had a rigid 1/2” drill with a side handle. If no side handle, I would not use it for serious use. I would drill till serious resistance, lift, empty the auger of dirt, drill again. Sometimes re- wet the hole. That would sometimes allow further penetration. I was planting tree seedlings. The 4” drill performed admirably, allowing me to do the job that would’ve been VEY difficult otherwise. Auger remained strong and sharp. I re-tightened the sight drill grip after each hole. I would say 30” per hole including amendments to hole and planting seedling trees. I’m 72 y farm girl. I did 8-10 holes including planting per day. Hard work. When auger sticks, it has the potential to break your hand/arm, I got skilled at reading the auger as I went on.

Très pratique
Facile d'utilisation. Il ne faut pas forcer comme un barbare et prendre son temps et ça fonctionne très bien. Utilisé avec perceuse normes perceuse à percussion et les 2 fonctionne même si forcemrnr ça force moins avec la percussion. Je recommande
