Is this a brush & grass cutter

Thank you for enquiring about this Stihl Model. Stihl themselves as a company call this a Brushcutter in the description of this the lightest unit in the range. It comes as standard with a AutoCut C mowing head (2-line) but also have other options available as add on accessories like a PolyCut mowing head. Some people class a Brushcutter as a machine with a metal cutting blade etc.. but due to the size a power of this unit this metal blade option is not available. The main use for this unit is grass and weed cutting. With the PolyCut head this will of course cut larger shrubs and brambles. Larger models will have more options for cutting heads + more. Can this be adjusted 90 degrees so the line aligns vertically to enable the user to cut grass growing from the edge of lawn into a flower bed?

Yes it is very good at vertical edging, which is why I bought it as according to Which Magazine and was a 'Vest Buy', however the head does not tilt, you have to hold it at a vertical angle to achieve the edges. It takes practice but practice make perfect and a lot of frustration learning.

Does the line extend automatically or do you have to do it manually

Line extends automatically although I find I have to thump the head quite hard on the ground to let it out! Great strimmer.
