Can i run this on a dell studio slim 540s with a 250 watt power supply? the processor is an intel 2 quad @2.5ghz and it has 8gb of ram.

What matters is not the wattage of the whole power supply, but rather the available wattage on the +12v rail. Most cheap power supplies have two +12v rails. If the PSU is only 220 Watts total, that probably means it has two 12v rails with at best 90 watts each. This is a 64 watt card, so you have to know that whatever plug you use doesn't already have 25 watts used. (It probably does)Anyway, the only small PSU I've found with a single 12v rail is the Flex 80+ line from Solid Gear (I have no affiliation with them). They have a $50+/- 300 watt PSU with single 20 AMP / 240 Watt +12v rail. So all you need to know is that the entire rest of your computer doesn't use more than about 170 Watts... If you have a small computer without extra hard drives and cards, it probably doesn't... If it does, get the 400 watt model for $75.

Will this work in a dell xps 8100? my ati hd radeon 5700 is going out & i need a new card. my computer has intel core i7-870 & 16gb of ram.

Not sure since I have an HP, but is also Intel I 7 with similar RAM.  I could not get it to install correctly on my computer, and ended up returning it.  At first I thought it was defective, but then got another board, different manufacturer, and had same issue.  It appears now that the issue was that I had updated to Windows 10, and there was some incompatibility/bios issues.  Also, make sure you totally back up your system and create a restore point before attempting the install.  I didn't do that, was changing bios settings trying to get to install, and ultimately couldn't get Windows 10 to boot.

From the research that i,ve done it looks like it will. If this is the computer set up and you have the choice of getting an xbox one or ps4 version i personally would go console, gt 740 will run the game on pc on low graphics presets. In fact, I recently upgraded my graphics card to a gtx 960 for use with gta v pc. Hope this helps.
