A definite if you hunt pheasants.
Sounds very similar to the real thing and I should know, I hunt pheasants from October to January 31st. This thing definitely helps me locate the pheasants before the sun rises so I know which way to head.

Takes practice but when you get it, the sound is pure pheasant.
This will produce a sound that is pure rooster pheasant. But it takes a little practice and some trial and error. Just blowing into the call will give a sound kind of like a drunk wood duck. So, here is how I changed that to pheasant....First hold the call between your thumb and index finger so that about half your hand extends beyond the sound-end of the call. Curl your fingers around the end. Then you want to blow a "TUK-ah" sound. I got it by focusing on tongue placement. Start by saying the "T" sound. Then notice how your tongue touches the roof of your mouth when you say "T". I learned to make the "T" a little raspy by curling the tip of my tongue back so that it touches the roof of my mouth a little farther back than when normally speaking a "T". Then SHARPLY say "TUK-ah" with the emphasis on the "TUK". With several tries you will get it.It sounded like pure pheasant to me. After a few laughs, my hunting buddies admitted it was pretty good too. Now whether it will actually work to attract pheasants or get them to respond is something still to be thoroughly tested.

LOST IT ALREADY!!! Im still giving 5 starts bc within 15 minutes I had 3 cockbirds answer back. But this thing does not have a place for a lanyard and in the excitement of one of the birds it fell out of my pocket. Cant see spending another $20. Ughhh

Fell apart
I had one from last year where the metal reed fell out. When putting it back in it bent and can't bend it right to use properly. Bought a new one and when opening the package the clear piece came apart into two pieces and the metal reed fell out just like my last one. Again trying to push it in the metal reed bent and can't bend it back to use properly. It did sound great though when blowing properly. It had instructions but just poor quality apparently. Won't buy another one. Instead will try and find out that's mostly one piece. I'm not sure if they should of been clued or just suppose to stay together with no clue or what.

Very sharp edges from the mold, Why would the mfg send that out without inspection. I filed them down with a small file. Should not have to do that!

Difficult
Very difficult to use. Instructions are not detailed enough to figure this thing out.
