A fellow opera lover turned me on to this group and I was amazed that I loved their music as opera and classical music is ALL I've listened to for many, many years. I took a chance because 2.5 are opera singers and the vocal technique of Carlos and David was very welcome to my ear. I agree with Simon Cowell that Sebastian has a better voice than he knows and learning the basics of vocal technique will be of great value in his singing and in spite of Urs' experience he needs a little technique to overcome his vibrato as well. That being said, I love this concert and have watched/listened to it many times. I have all their CD's and the Encore DVD as well. If they sold stock in the group, I'd buy some shares. The excellent voices and training changes the worldwide audience demographic substantially. The looks are fantastic! All masculine, clean-cut and charming appealing to all ages. Please don't compare to Boccelli, Church, Groban, etc. whom I can't listen to, ever. The men of Il Divo are in a class far above these truly "pop" performers. If they ever want to go back into the opera world, they will have no problem appealing to opera fans as well. They will just be much better known and fill any house in which they appear. I'm looking forward to their next album and hope to see them live some day - but to listen, not scream and interrupt their performance. Some say they are "manufactured" but what a great formula! The only other pop star I listen to is also UK - Michael Ball. England is doing something right in producing a singer like Ball and a group like Il Divo! They are unusual and quite terrific! Get this and enjoy! Whether an opera fan or a pop lover - you will love this group!Handsome and talented with great musical backup and production team presenting them in an exciting and classy package!

AT their best...

Say what you will about Simon Cowell, some love him, some don't, but he knows his stuff when it comes to music. Il Divo is his creative genius at work. Being a lover of both genres, I have to admit to being skeptical about the whole tenors, baritone and pop artist meet multi-lingual POP music idea. I hadn't heard any of IL DIVO's music until, channel surfing one night, I heard them perform on a TV special. I was amazed at the beauty of the harmonies, the transformation of the translated music and the gorgeous production. I purchased this DVD the following day and have lost count how many times I have watched it and shared it with others. To a one, these people are charming and talented and give performances that are as beautiful to watch as they are to listen to. The DVD is so well shot that it gives you the feeling of being there in the audience. At one point in the program, Urs Buhler talks about their song, "Passera." He says, "it is one of his favorite songs, not just for the beautiful Italian melody, but because of the text. Passera is about music and how listening to music can get us through some very difficult times in life." As a military wife whose husband is deployed, I agreed with him whole-heartedly. And I thank Urs and David and Sebastian and Carlos for making this lonely and difficult time more bearable. To those who appreciate them, they truly are a gift. Leave aside any pre-conceived notions or cynicism...see and hear this one for yourself, you'll be glad you did. It is a singularly unique musical experience.

My wife and I have been fans of Il Divo since they first appeared at the Chevrolet (now Oakdale) Theatre in Wallingford, CT, in 2005. We have attended two of their live performance--early 2009 at the Mohegan Sun Casino in southern Connecticut and last Sunday at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford.This DVD offers an up-close view of the four men that the live performance often cannot (unless you have $200 or more to shell out per seat). And the typical CD provides just the singing. However, let me state that live, DVD, or CD--all provide the passion with which they sing.My wife and I are senior citizens. I am 72, and my wife is a bit younger. But we are often oferwhelmed with the quality of their performances. Each of them brings a unique and singular voice to the group. We are fans of r&b, jazz, and country music. We have always enjoyed symphony performances, too. But Il Divo simply "takes our breath away" at times. How corny is that? Many of our life experiences are recalled in song after song. One does not need to understand the language in which many of their performances are presented. The quality and the passion with which they sing is awesome for the two of us."Il Divo: Live at the Greek Theatre" is worth every penny you have to pay. My advice is, though, save your pennies and find a way to purchase this DVD and get yourself to a live performance. You will never forget it, regardless of your age.

I've been trying to introduce different kinds of music to my high school students, and they have become intrigued by Il Divo. I had to explain that Simon "The Mean American Idol Judge" Cowell had done a world search to find exceptional young male operatic voices to form the Il Divo group. I used several Il Divo CD selections (I have them all!) to illustrate various grammar and structure points, and TADA! the music caught their interest. But on a recent day of rigorous standardized testing, I allowed the students to relax a bit and watch this DVD while they worked on individual projects. I had seen it as part of a PBS fund-raising effort and ordered it immediately. All of us enjoyed it tremendously. Of course, as with any live performance, the recording is not the best, but watching these four young men perform is enough entertainment in itself. I can testify to the fact that some young people in Houston are now "turned on" to a genre of music that they had previously avoided like the plague!

I’ve been to their concerts in several places, and this video really shows how they work in harmony together and why the ladies love them so much it’s a good purchase if you want to get your loved one something that they can watch
