It says made in China on the packaging

Mine reeks coming out of the package, how should you was them?

I soaked mine in laundry detergent with baking soda then washed it in the machine and air dryed. It still took quite some time for the smell to dissipate but I kept it outside. I believe it the dying and finishing products that they use. Don’t put it on until the smell is gone, who knows what kind of chemicals you may be inhaling.

Is there a drawstring for tightening?

No drawstring or tightening. This mask holds up well and worth the buy.

does this cool when wet?

It does not have any type of cooling cells in it, But will cool when wet yes.
