Stepsaver Products Self-Adhesive Goof Patch (Smooth)

I ordered the Goof Patch after using Google and Youtube to search for a fix for my sheetrock goofs. I have a few outlets and switch boxes that are cut just a wee bit wide and I didn't want to go through the BS of drywall mesh patches, etc.This product delivered as promised. I had a recessed outlet (which has a standard plate built onto it so I can't use a Jumbo wall plate on it) that had a hole cut just wide on one side. I placed the patch over it as shown on the YouTube video and reattached the outlet. When I screwed it back on, it looked great. I haven't painted the wall yet, but it'll get a coat of primer and paint so I think the edge should be unnoticeable. Easy to use, went on smooth, no wrinkles. Just don't catch it on the edge of the recessed gang box if it is just below the sheetrock, it will make the patch sink in because the adhesive is tacky. Just stick it to the wallboard with nothing behind the part that needs covering. Unless you have kids with itchy fingers or you poke a hole in this patch, you'll never notice it there. I'm sure if you search for Goof Patch on YouTube you'll see the demo. Pretty straighforward. I imagine it'll work on plaster just as well.

The patch is a great idea a truly covered the oversized errors. However, it DOES show after it's painted. I'm not sure if sanding down the edges and putting a little joint compound wound help but it clearly shows.

If you've never hung drywall before, cutting a whole in the middle of a piece for the socket is touch skill to master. We messed up on three of the sockets before getting it right on the other three. This product saved us. Once you put it in place and paint over it, you'll never know it's there. One caution, it's very thin, which is how it disappears when you paint it, but it it's good for covering a big gap. If you have a big gap, make sure to inset a piece of drywall behind it and then this will make it look nice.

This product was great. I purchased over $125 worth of switchplates to replace plastic contractor plates, only to find every outlet/switch was miscut, and these plastic plates were oversized. The goof patch product was the perfect solution - easy to use. Hardly noticeable!

These are fantastic for when your light switches have gaps from oversized bad cuts in the drywall or any other hole patchwork. Just stick over the area and paint over it. You can't even tell! Much better than trying to patch with drywall putty.

My drywall guy messed up opening for one of the outlets. I was looking at drywall patches and came across Goof Patch. It sounded too good to be true but I thought why not give it a try ... what's the worst that can happen. Gues what? It works! Very simple to use product and I love it. Check out the lictures. Purchased a new home where construction around wall switches were sloppy. These were the instant cure. Simple, easy. One tip, lightly rough them up before painting to give look of wall texture (they come smooth)

it works great with flat paint. anything with a sheen is noticeable but still blends in enough that you can't see it unless you are close up
