I read several reviews before I bought this product. So, I thought I would go through it by the things that were pointed out in other reviews: 1. The taste - It has a slight bitter taste and it's a little gritty, but they try to help that by giving it some mint flavoring. You definitely don't want to swallow this, but you shouldn't be swallowing toothpaste anyway, right? 2. Sensitive teeth - I have sensitive teeth and they have not been bothered by this toothpaste, however, my gums were the first few days I used it. 3. Effectiveness - My husband and I have been using this product for 10 days now. Our teeth are noticeably whiter. We did notice a change after the first couple brushes, but not like some people are claiming. We are both older and our teeth have yellowed and they are gradually whitening. I still look at my teeth and see that they are still yellow, but I think after a month or two of using this product, I will see them being more white than yellow. 4. Bad breath - I don't have halitosis, but everyone gets a little foul breath from time to time. This product really does reduces bad breath. It doesn't just mask it with mint like other toothpastes, IT'S GONE. That is a really nice side benefit, considering I bought it to whiten my teeth. I have and will continue to recommend this product. I think it is a much better option than the bleaching trays that make your teeth look patchy and damaged. This seems a safe, natural alternative and one thing I didn't see anything else mention in any of their review, it makes you teeth super soft, almost like you've just come from a dental cleaning. I will be interested to see what my dentist says about my tarter levels on my next cleaning visit. My teeth feel polished after every brushing. I will buy it again.

I've been using this toothpaste for several months now, and I'm confident enough to write a review. I'll give the cons first. Con: 1. You look like a scary rapid dog using this. Black foam coming out of your mouth is just creepy. 2. You must clean your sink every time you brush your teeth. Otherwise you have black stains everywhere, especially around the drain. We have white porcelain, and I really had to scrub the drain with a pumice cleaning stone to get it out. 3. The taste is a little weird, but after four months, I'm used to it. Pros: 1. I cannot use whitening strips at all because my teeth are so sensitive. I had zero issues with this toothpaste. 2. My teeth are noticeably whiter. I'm a heavy coffee drinker, and I'm definitely seeing the benefits of the whitening! 3. My teeth, breath and mouth just feel cleaner ALL. THE. TIME. You know how you feel after leaving the dentist, with your teeth all polished and smooth? And it lasts a hot minute, until your first meal after your cleaning? I now have that feeling all day, every day now! Even morning yuck mouth is much improved. 4. I have far far less tartar build up. When I leave the dentist after a cleaning, I have a small space between my bottom two front teeth. That space fills with tartar almost immediately. (It's very common - that's where your spit glands are!) It's been five months since my last cleaning and that space is STILL THERE! It's started to build up, but it does stick - it will chip off on its own or with flossing. Amazing! So, clearly, the cons are more nuisances, and the pros are magical. I highly highly recommend!

I'm really torn on how many stars to give this because on one hand, this stuff literally looks and tastes lie $#^&. On the other, it works amazingly well. I've used it twice so far, last night and this morning. Full disclaimer, the first time I used it I was so thoroughly disgusted by the look and the taste and the feel of it in my mouth that I threw up right there in the sink. I really don't think I can stress enough how gross this stuff is. Especially when we're used to toothpaste having a little different consistency and not smelling and tasting like something you would normally scoop out of the litter box after your cat got into the ice cream. That being said, this morning was a little easier. I think I was more prepared and my expectations were better set. I didn't throw up! It was still disgusting and I did gag a little but got through it much better. I did notice that my brush was stained a bit so that's kind of gross. But onto the upside. This stuff works really well. Despite the grossness, my teeth feel cleaner than they have after brushing with any other paste. And it oddly leaves a very clean taste and feel in my mouth afterwards. So, you can understand my dilemma on rating it. But I will continue to use it in the hopes that I will get more and more used to it. Oh, keep those clorox wipes handy too because it will make a mess in your sink.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: to get the full magical whitening effect of this product in just one-week, you must chant out loud the whitening spell written in the back of the tube in Sanskrit while you brush your teeth with it, OR IT WONT WORK! Anywho, since I don't know how to chant THAT kind of spell (I think it's actually Thai) my teeth did not get whiter with one week use (as many, many reviewers claimed), and I will have to update this review when I finish the product. But for now: Bad first impression, I only bought this overpriced toothpaste because a lot of users seemed to get super white teeth with "JUST ONE WEEK OF USE!" many uploaded pictures to prove it, thus adding to the illusion. But now I feel like I was deceived, and it doesn't feel good to be deceived, it doesn't taste great either. This tastes so rancid when you are using it, that it is no surprise you will feel so relieved after you have finished brushing your teeth. It's not your typical feeling of -chemicals disguised with an overpowering mint flavor- you get with standard toothpastes, it's more like a -I will only accept this if it actually whitens my teeth- feeling. A little bit dried around the tube and it looks like black dry clay. it also stained my toothbrush gray, and I still wonder how this will make my teeth whiter. Have been using it for about 2 weeks 3 times a day, and still no sign of any magical whitening effect on my teeth. Note: I will update the review by the end of the tube. If this whitens my teeth, you will know, and I will change my rating to 5-stars (that is the reason I bought it), If my teeth aren any whiter by the end of the tube, must I be sincere, I will totally relate to the "I hate this product" assigned to the 1-star rating.

This is my first experience with charcoal toothpaste so I was really sure what to expect. It certainly did not sound as though it would taste good. That was probably my biggest concern. I've just finished up the entire tube, and I couldn't have been more wrong. I know there are some mixed reviews regarding the taste...but I actually LOVE the taste. Nearly all toothpaste (mint flavored) burns my mouth for some reason. However, this just tastes "clean" to me. Without the residual mint flavor. I seriously love it. My teeth feel like I've just left the dentist's office, every time I brush. Regular toothpaste always seems to linger, even if i rinse, I feel as though there is a film still in my mouth. However, I do not feel this way with this product...at all. I failed to take before pics, but my teeth are *definitely* a couple shades whiter since using this one tube. Now the cons... It is a little pricey...would love to see it on a "subscribe and save" plan, or be able to buy in bulk. I am a customer for life...so...help me out seller? Please? Also...regarding staining your sink...if you rinse the sink out after you are finished, you will not have a problem, at all. However, if you fail to rinse it completely, when it dries and kind of dries solidly, And looks kind of disgusting. Buy this toothpaste...and if you are looking for an amazing manual toothbrush...I can recommend one of those, too. Colgate Slim Soft Charcoal Toothbrush (Pack of 3) Ultra Soft . Thinnest, softest bristles I've ever seen on a toothbrush. They actually get up under your gum line, and in all honesty probably clean better than my electric toothbrush. Anyhow, I love this combo of items soo much, I even purchased them for my parents. And my sister. And my boyfriend. I suspect my excitement probably scared them.

UPDATE AT 7 DAYS!! BEWARE!! I took pictures the first few days and didn't notice a difference but kept using it twice a day. Today, day 7, I took another picture and immediately noticed something was wrong. The TOP picture is 7 days, the bottom is first use!! My teeth became very yellow and stained over just 1 week!! I think it damaged my teeth, maybe scraped the enamel off allowing stains to soak in?? Either way, wow. Terrible product. I will go back to my Colgate and Listerine and I value my teeth enough to pay the dentist to whiten my them if my regular tooth paste doesn't fix this. Never again with a product I can't read and isn't recommended and tested by professionals. Pretty angry and sad right now. Totally stupid thing to do. Rating changed to a 1 Taste isn't bad, makes my mouth feel cleaner and fresher than my crest toothpaste. However, its all in Japanese(?) So there are no directions, warnings, or even ingredient list. I used it once. There was a slight difference. Nothing to write home about. When I took pictures without my flash you couldn't see the difference at all. I will brush twice a day with my regular toothpaste and once at night with this and hope that it provides better results over time! Top picture is before, bottom is after (1st use). Scary Black Toothpaste!! This works really well and tastes pretty good too. I highly recommend it. I knew I could not handle the powdered charcoal tooth powders...I would make such a mess. This is the easy way to do it--in a tube. This tooth paste does a great job of cleaning my teeth they are very smooth and I think a bit whiter...oh, and it is minty fresh. I find this gets my teeth the cleanest of any other toothpastes I've used. I bought this as I am totally avoiding conventional toothpastes and mouthwashes. I am employing alternative method for my oral health. I "pull" coconut oil daily, I ditched all my toothpastes with fluoride in it. I believe it is majorly detrimential to our health. Over the course of a year, My caveties stopped. Explain that!? I use this Twin Lotus Active Charcoal Toothpaste, Neem, etc. and I bought a WaterPik Water Flosser Plus Sonic Powered Toothbrush Set from Amazon...I think it was the WP-900 Model. My dental cleanings have been much easier. I began this process without telling my dentist or hygenist and then asked after 6 months....so, how are my teeth looking? My hygenist was pleasantly surprised and I told her what I had begun doing. However, My dentist wasn't impressed and inferred I'd be sorry I wasn't using flouride. I don't think so. I told the dentist, the sensitivity in my teeth is gone....and I stopped using Sensodyne! My teeth feel clean and better.

Twin Lotus charcoal toothpaste with fluoride leaves my mouth feeling super clean and fresh. I really can't rate this toothpaste highly enough, and no, before you wonder, I didn't recieve this toothpaste free in exchange for a good review. I bought this toothpaste as a last ditch attempt to avoid a trip to the dreaded dentist. I'd had a sudden onset toothache in one of my molars that no amount of careful eating or Corsadyl mouthwash could budge. Having had some positive experience previously with a Charcoal based tooth powder and tooth ache, I decided to buy this one and give it a go. What appealed to me was that it was an actual paste rather than a powder, which left me hoping it would be a bit less 'crunchy' than the Charcoal tooth powder. Fortunately I wasn't disappointed in that respect, or for that matter in any other regard. The toothpaste has a different, but not unpleasant taste that is both slightly Minty/cooling but also quite Clove flavoured. Personally I have grown to really like the flavour. I'm not sure why, but as another reviewer has commented, unlike lots of other 'conventional' toothpaste, this doesn't leave you the following morning with a Dragon Breath. In respect of its whitening powers, to be honest, I've noticed no change in the colour of my teeth but to be fair I've not really been looking for any. Where I have however absolutely felt a massive difference, is in the speed with which this toothpaste managed to get rid of a horrendous throbbing tooth ache that I'd had for well over a week. Within about two days of using this toothpaste I could feel the throbbing pain beginning to subside, and by the time I got to 5 days of having used this toothpaste I'd almost most forgotten that I' had such bad toothache in the first place. Brilliant product that I will always keep in my bathroom for night time tooth brushing.

I bought this product for bad breath that my daughter and i suffer from. Within a week we noticed a different and felt more confident when speaking to people. The other thing i noticed was that my teeth seemed whiter, not sure if that was to do with active charcoal. Only issue was packaging in another language. But over all very happy with results. Clean breath and whiter teeth can't complain about that.

Its been almost a year since I first purchased this product and I was very excited about this product in the beginning due to chronic bad breath. I was hoping for this to stop now and for some time it worked well. After some time using it though, my breath was even worst than before. On the other hand it works perfectly fine for my partner, so it depends on the person I guess.
