contained what I needed
I got what I needed which was the o-ring but it's still cheaper than calling a plumber. In hindsight I should have just ordered the o-ring which is part number 42043. It's not like the adaptor is going to brake as it is sits like the filling in a sandwich.

Replaced original parts with this one in a 1985 original installation good to go for another 10 years minimum.
