Excellent resource for those working with struggling readers
I believe this book will be a good resource for early childhood teachers Pre-K through third grade. While most of the information pertains to pre-k through first grade it is a great insight for teachers working with children who appear to be struggling and reading in second and third grade.

Great book. Should be required reading for teachers responsible for teaching young students to read.

important information for reading teachers
As a reading teacher, I gained a lot of useful information from this book. A few months later, though, I attended a training about dyslexia, and the presenters there said that the programs advocated in this book have low effect size on helping struggling readers. Still a worthwhile read, but get information from other sources, too. Do not make this text your “bible” for reading instruction.

Reading Specialist Recommendation
I have been a reading specialist in Connecticut for eleven years. Having read many books pertaining to the subject matter, I recommend this book to new teachers and veterans who need to update their knowledge about reading. This book is outlined well, defines the different components of reading well, and provides explicit examples to help all educators. I plan on purchasing this book for a school wide book talk. It is that good! University teachers should recommend this book to all teachers.

Great Book!
This book was a good find! It was a quick read but had a lot of great information. It was nice to find a book about Literacy that started from square one with infancy and went through third grade. It's a true Early Childhood book on Literacy.
