With a little work, it's great.
I ordered this after reading the other reviews. I got it quickly, sharpened the tips with a file, tightened the bolts some, and glued the handle on using contact cement.I've carried quite a few pine logs with it, and haven't had a problem yet. Makes it quite a bit easier lifting and hauling unsplit logs, and I don't get sap and bark all over me in the process.

Rugged and a back saver.
I like the tongs a lot. I use them every day for carrying and moving logs and beams. Prior to having them I had to bend more and grab logs and beams with two hands. I can snag them while leaning over less and pickup more weight easily than before. I was actually killing myself by hand moving things around. Much easier with the tongs so they are withing reach all day. They are rugged and I think will last quite a long time. The metal is thick enough to stay good with heavy use. The four screws seem robust also so I don't expect any issues with them. I like them so much I bought a second pair as I can move two lighter beams or logs around which I could not do before. I also got a second to keep in the work area so one or the other is withing easy reach. They have made a big difference in the length of logs and beams I can move around without injuring myself. As to the 16 inch bite. That is big enough to grab logs that are about all I can move. For bigger logs I have to straddle the log and use both hands to move the log about a foot. If I had wider tongs I'd probably sprain my back. I'm 6 feet and in decent shape so for bigger logs I get the peavey. It much easier to move average size logs and beams around with the tongs.

You don’t have to be a professional Lumberjack to appreciate this amazing tool!
If you are handy with a chainsaw and axe, finding yourself, year after year, managing trees, this is the tool for you. I have both sizes. This makes wrestling logs much easier and less deep bending and bear hugging logs. Just drop the jaws onto the log and lift. The jaws auto set. The great thing is after you lift the wood into the trailer or pick-up bed, just a slight push releases the jaws. Makes quick work of clean-up of a fresh fallen tree. I also use them to reposition larger logs while cutting. Just clamp on an end and drag. Again the jaws auto release when you set the log down and push back slightly.

Wear steel toed boots.
I had a fairly large maple tree taken down and sectioned the smaller parts into very many short (14-16" logs) . Purchased these tongs to help my old back with bringing these to the splitter. You must grab into the logs just about exactly in the middle or the wood will want to radically tilt and come off the device. Someone else had mentioned to wear steel toed shoes or boots when using these tongs. I would like to strongly second that advice. I don't believe I would purchase these tongs again - or, at the very least, use two of them at the same time.

These work great
I tightened all the nuts when I received them. Not too tight though or they won't open or close. Everyone I cut with now either owns some or wants some. Sooo much easier than trying to pick up logs from the ground. Easier to pick up and easier to carry. Save your back with these.

I should have given something like this a try long ago.
I recently purchased one of these to utilize while gathering firewood. I should have been using these or something like this for years! These tongs absolutely made work of grabbing, lifting, and dragging logs much easier for us. They are light-weight, but heavy enough to hold up to repeated use. We used these all day long to drag dried pine 8"-16" diameter logs that were 6'-8' long back to the trailer. I truly could have used several more of these on my recent outing and I intend to buy some more. I'm sure these have become a necessary tool we use to gather firewood. Wonderful product!

Know what you are getting
The points are at the wrong angle and won't dig in. Unless you have wood with soft bark these are useless. Most of my firewood the bark has fallen off and these won't pick it up. The similar Fiskars that I ordered at the same time have the points at the right angle and work beautifully. Slight update. I spent a half hour with my bench grinder and sharpened the points and slightly changed the angle. It works better now but there is no way I would have had to do this if it had been properly designed in the first place.

Great tool
Worked perfect for picking up logs. Makes it so easy on the back. I’m going to order another one to balance myself out when carrying logs.
