how it holds up and have to shim it a bit to keep it perfectly level (probably the hitch installed off a hair) but looks great and keeps the close parkers away. I use the Roadmaster Quiet hitch and a locking pin keep it quiet and secure...ALSO, shows up PERFECTLY at base of back up camera and really, somehow, helps aim the car into the parking slot and serve as a gauge also. I Really Like it more than I thought I would and it looks great with the SS Warner bull bar and SS nerf bars, makes vehicle singular with a bit of BLING. Easy to wash the top of the SUV AND, unexpectedly with a little wood ramp (wifey thought this is why I got it!!) makes a great ramp for our big dogs to get in, they are getting a bit old to jump like they used to. Like it more the more I have it! Still looks great and no rust over a year later!!

Sturdy to stand on. No interference with parking sensors or back-up camera. I noted some reviewers complained of poor weld geometry, but no problem here. I noted some lateral movement after initially installing, which is unavoidable to prevent binding within the receiver. For this I fitted two thin plastic spacers which reduced that concern. I applied silicone grease to the threads of the supplied bracket bolt and also within the receiver to inhibit corrosion binding over time (In Minnesota winters and road salts). I also noted a reviewer or two who said moisture entered the tube so I applied some silicone sealant to the plastic inserts that close both ends of it. Very happy with this product.

I had purchased a different hitch step and after an hour or so of trying to install I gave up. (I am a bit of a perfectionist.) This model was more expensive than the first one but well worth the price. Upon opening the box I found the step inside of a cloth full length bag. At the ends there were molded cardboard wrapped in stretch plastic. The step was in perfect condition. (No dents, scratches, not even a particle of dust.) It was very easy to install and I liked the included "rattle stop" that screwed into a threaded opening on the step itself and was tightened with a plastic wheel. This setup will make it easier to remove to use for a trailer hitch. The only imperfection I found was a slight wobble which was caused by my hitch on the truck and a very tiny wedge solved the problem. Did I mention that I am a bit of a perfectionist?

So, this is for a new truck with less than 100 miles on it. While I was putting it in, there was some slight issues with getting it into place. Between the thickness of the power coating on the hitch combined with the painting in my hitch match made it feel like it was almost machined to match clearances with my hitch. Once it was in place, I was able to get the pin in. The clip pin for it due to how my hitch is attached did not allow for me to turn into into a position that I thought was desirable. Not that big of a deal. I only have one hole so for putting the pin through on my hitch, so it had to pretty much go all the way in and engage with the last hole in the step hitch. The powder coating is pretty good. Based on the install it seems like this was using some pretty good application techniques and paint. Combine that with the thickness of it as long as it doesn't get abused this thing will last as long as the vehicle. Given this, I will not knock the fitment. I'm almost sure that this will sort itself out after it wears in from several more installations of it, normal wear and tear, etc. The anti-rattle clip that came with it is not the most intuitive to install. It comes actually in my case in 4 pieces: the L-shaped bracket, a long piece of threaded rod, the knob, and a rubber piece that I found fits to the L-shaped bracket where it rests on the hitch. For best results if you want to use this, thread the threaded rod into the spot on the hitch, mount the L-bracket, then put the knob on the rod to get it on there and align the bracket. Turn the knob to tighten it down. If you don't you either bottom out the threaded rod in the nut and not get the best of clamping force, or you don't have enough thread engagement to tighten it down properly. It took some trial and error to get it in place. There is still some lateral movement on it and no vertical movement, but for now it is good enough. Depending on your use, maybe some thread tape on it might help keep it from vibrating off which is how it feels given the material used. The knob is pretty heavy duty plastic, but it does make one wonder how long it will last over the course of several seasons and that it is on the bottom of the hitch so it gets all the dirt and abuse thrown up at it. I did get up onto it and try to climb into the bed. While for me it is good and sturdy, please take care if it is wet outside. If it is wet outside you have to mind how you stand on it with what kind of footwear you have on. It has a good texture on it but to me it feels like if you are not paying attention you'll fall off of it with how close it sits to the bumper as I have seen in most of the install pictures. If I was going to improve this, I would: - Better instructions for how to install the anti-rattle clip - Improve the texturing on the hitch step to improve grip when you use it. For my vehicle it does not disable the back up sensors.

Looks and feels good, but I’d prefer if it were hard steel.

I drive a Ford Explorer which as must know the tail end is mostly plastic or fiberglass and all it takes is a touch to cost thousands of dollars in repairs because I have a special pearl white finish. It was bent once in a parking lot that I didn't notice until later but two days ago I was rear-ended on the highway and it did bend the hitch bumper all the way to the car. But there is not a scratch on my car and for this price I just had a brand new one delivered today from Amazon. The BMW that rear-ended me however is looking at thousands of dollars of repair because their front grill is in bad shape. I highly recommend this product. I did not even stick around for an accident report because I knew it was easier to just replace this item. Saved my truck twice!

Very well made but it blocked my license plate and so I returned it. Something to think about before you buy it. It also didn't serve that well as a step into my Maverick. It's about the same lever as the bumper.

I've had it on the back of my vehicle for 10 days. Haven't heard any noise so the anti-rattle is obviously working. The alignment sits level, also looks in line from the side, not crooked or anything. I used a hitch lock though, instead of the pin provided. I'm sure someone would steal it otherwise, for no other reason than the fact that they could. But I digress, I will conduct a photshoot of the product tomorrow; weather permitting of course. I would do it right now, but it's 4:28PM so it's already dark out. this was easy to install, if you need to look at the directions for this then shame on you. i just bought it so some dang dangus won't destroy my car when they inevitably rear-end me. Or the clowns who can't parallel park adn drive into you. I've not any comment on the water seepage issue though, It's been raininbg like a bugger all week though so maybe i will give it a looky-loo during the shoot.

Love it makes my truck look GREAT!!

Recieved it very fast happy with that. the bar itself is very good what expected. The hitch pin attaching is ok. works, but invites theft. I will get a locking one. the antirattle parts are cheesy, I will modify to improve, thats ok for me. So over all its good for me, you get what you pay for.

The hitch step is not only there to help access your roof rack, but in my case, helped protect my truck from serious damage in a recent rear-end accident. Great product. Helps enhance the look @ the back end of the vehicle.

The product came on time, and appears to be good quality. But, like others have experienced, the section that inserts into my 4Runner hitch is too high, by about 1/8th of an inch. So I plan to grid off the 2 lower corners, and allow the lower side, to bend up inside the length of it. Perhaps a spot wield to reinforce it. Low expanding window foam might keep water out of the step section.
