The Ultimate Granny Square Sourcebook: 100 Contemporary Motifs to Mix and Match

I haven't done any patterns out of this book yet - I'll update if I'm egregiously wrong here, but I'm not too worried because you can tell it was made with attention to details. 1. The book is bound in such a way that you can lay it flat without pages falling out! Almost like someone thought about how you're going to use this book and then bound it accordingly! (See, Dover? It can be done!) 2. There's a table of contents. With. Pictures. What?!? You can easily see all the motifs and pick which one you want with out flipping through the whole book?!? Crazy?!? 3. Pictures! Charts! Written instructions! 4. And.... The top of each page says how many stitches the end block will be! 5. The patterns are credited with the designer - so if you like them, you can find more! The only bummer I see (which isn't a bummer, really) is that most of the patterns are for a very dense granny square - so if you're looking for some lacy motifs, this isn't the reference for you. But if you're looking for fun color ideas/mandala looks, this is perfect! All in all, it's a thoughtful, well edited book that I'm itching to try out!

the patterns are super easy to understand and follow. i was a beginner when i bought this and it’s helped me tremendously. there are several different patterns from beginner friendly to advanced. it teaches you basic stitches and how to read patterns. each square is really pretty! :)

This is the second time I have purchased this book. I love it. It is easy to read, layed out extremely efficiently. Has beautiful crochet patterns for every level of experience. And the fact it has charts and written instructions is just incredible. I learned hot to read charts by reading this book. No other help. It’s amazing. I would buy this again for the next person I meet who crochets.

I gave this book as a gift to my teenage daughter who loves to crochet. The patterns are well written with easy to follow instructions and great pictures. I am impressed with this book and had no idea there are so many ways to crochet granny squares.

this book has beautiful granny squares . I have made some but some of them look complicated but beautiful. I will try to make some more of them after Christmas and give you more infomation aon how I make out.

After not crocheting in years, I saw a recommendation for this book on a YouTube channel about crocheting. It’s really helpful! There is a color picture, chart and instructions for each pattern. When Joann went out of business, I bought a collection of colors in Big Twist yarn and started making samples of the designs. I find it easy to follow.

Lots of granny square patterns included in this book. I tried out the first 3 today. The instructions were easy to follow - includes written instructions with the pattern using symbols. It also specifies what colors you should use and a color photo of the finished square. I like the pattern because sometimes it gets confusing to visualize how the stitches need to align. They recommend using cotton yarn but I find that it is much stiffer and not easily handled (I used medium 4 weight cotton yarn). I also like how they recommend which patterns pair well with others. All squares are 80 stitches so they will match up with each other. Will try making the granny squares using acrylic lightweight yarn that I have left over. Can't wait to try the other patterns.

Super happy with this book! It has a great selection of squares for all levels, but especially for beginners and intermediates. What I find helpful as a beginner, it describes the different stitches and how to read patterns. 100% recommend

I’m finding this a great book for teaching myself to crochet. It was is written in US terms which I prefer. it starts off with beginner squares and works through to advanced. I’m still on beginner pages and managing it well. I find having written and graph instructions for each square a big help. All explanations for stitches, symbols etc are in the front of the book and easy to refer to when needed. Very glad I bought this book.

Ottimo libri, istruzioni semplici con schemi molto chiari e divertenti da fare. Parte da quelli più semplici fino a quelli più elaborati. Ne ho fatto molti e dal risultato eccezionale. Non consiglio se non si è pratici della lingua inglese o la lettura degli schemi a uncinetto.
