XM2701 Lightweight Sewing Machine 27 Stitches

I bought this sewing machine 6 years ago unsure if I would get really into the hobby— I had a simple project I wanted to do and my mom agreed to help get me started. We picked this machine and spending the money then felt like such a gamble because I was unsure if I’d use it!!! Well, I fell in love with sewing hook line and sinker thanks in part to this extremely easy to use and unfussy machine. I started with the YouTube video explaining how to do it alongside my mom who gave me a very quick lessons. From there, I was pretty much off to the races. I have used mostly wovens but have had success with knits as well. I’ve really been able to do everything with this machine. It is not limiting.I’ve sewn soooooo many projects at this point: Baby blankets Kids clothes (dresses, pants, shorts, fleece jacket, boys swim suit) Halloween costumes (Totoro gray and blue! A seagull! A buoy! A snail! Forky!) Tote bags Cosmetic bags/dop kits Fleece hats Chair covers Adult garments (dress, boxer shorts) Christmas stockings (felt) Hannukah banner I write this review because I am finally ready for an upgrade after 6 years with this machine. And I sewed a lot lot lot lot. The machine is still going strong but I now want a machine that will allow me more industrial strength to plow through more complicated (thicker) projects and is heavier. I also know now what kind of sewing I like and can buy a machine specifically for that. This is a great machine for anyone starting out who isn’t “sure” if the hobby is for you, or anyone wanting to do some sewing on a budget. I can’t really recommend it for someone who is advanced, but I don’t think super advanced sewists are considering this. My mom, sister, and I all have brother machines (theirs are nicer and computerized) and have found them extremely easy to use and reliable. If in doubt, get this machine!!!!!

This is a great lightweight sewing machine. I have an older Brother model that is almost identical, but this one sews better. It has a needle threader that is easy to use. The metal presser feet that came with the machine are identified with embossed letters to identify what each is for. For example, the zig zag foot has a J on it. It comes with a manual which is helpful. The top-loading bobbin is easy to insert. It is fairly quiet. This Brother is easier to use than the small Singer, which I returned.

So far so good. I received this and it was light weight and easy to set up. I haven't sewn since high school and watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to thread machine and bobbin and I was off to the races. I need to practice but the machine worked great with no issues for simple seaming and taking up shoulder straps. I did try to force a thick seam through it and broke a needle. Luckily, it comes with extras. This was completely my fault but I mention it so you don't do the same. Good purchase. Paying for itself in alterations fees.

AMAZING . So easy to set up the thread and bobin . It's pretty . Not to heavy. Lots of diffrent stiches to choose from easy to figure out . Comes with easy instructions and theres plenty of videos online with easy to follow instructions for the exact machine, if you aren't able to understand them to well. It work very smoothly so far . I love it so much . Highly recommend, especially if you're new to sewing it's easy to use for beginners. The tension seem good as well and if you test it on a peice of scrap fabric first anytime you start a project and are messing around with the tension it's pretty easy to use and figure out. The presser foot is very good easy to figure out the perfect speed on.

My 20+ year old Sears Kenmore sewing machine finally died after serving me well over the years. At first I bought a Singer brand to replace it and immediately returned it for several reasons, one of which is that Singer no longer provides an instruction manual with their machines. You must download the manual to refer to online. I need a physical manual to refer to when I sew from time to time so I decided to replace it with this Brother XM2701 machine. It has a nice, easy to read, user manual! I don't sew often any longer, using it only for minor alterations, repairs and occasional projects or crafts, but so far it has been very easy to use. It has multiple stitch options and features - - some of which I will probably never use - - and is lightweight enough for me to take out and put away easily. I have not tried using it yet for very heavy fabrics like jean hems but I did make a t-shirt quilt, which is fairly thick, and it did just fine! Only downside is that it does not come with a carrying case, but I don't think many sewing machines do these days. I ended up buying a soft bag case on Amazon which is working fine.

I have never been good at sewing, despite my grandmother, sister, and best friend trying to teach me, but have wanted something to use to do basic tasks such as hemming, because sewing by hand takes a long time. This machine works great! It takes the hard chores like bobbin winding and needle threading and makes them automatically easier. The included instructions are easy for me to follow, and I have successfully hemmed a variety of fabrics, from denim to cotton to rayon, and they look good. The machine itself is relatively lightweight, so I can keep it in a closet and it’s not a burden to pull out and set up on a table, then put away again when I’m done. It’s quiet, and has enough accessories and features that, should I feel braver, mean I can do a lot more than hemming a skirt or pair of pants. This machine has taken away a lot of the fear I had about sewing, and I am more confident. Because it’s so easy, I don’t put off necessary chores, and also don’t hesitate to buy things that don’t fit, because now I know I can successfully adjust them in just a few minutes.

I never used a sewing machine before but really wanted to be able to do some basic alterations to my clothes. I practiced on an old shirt and after learning from some novice mistakes I have hemmed shirts, pants, and a dress. I find this machine is great for a beginner like me and has so much functionality that I can’t wait to learn and sew more.

Très satisfaite de ma machine à coudre Brother XM2701S ! Elle est simple à prendre en main, même quand on débute, et offre largement assez de points pour les travaux du quotidien. Elle coud parfaitement, les points sont réguliers et l’enfilage est facile. J’apprécie aussi son format compact qui permet de la ranger facilement. Une machine fiable, pratique et avec un excellent rapport qualité-prix. Je la recommande sans hésiter !

Ottimo prezzo ed ottima macchina da cucire. È silenziosa e semplice da usare. E fornita di istruzioni anche in italiano. È comodissima anche da trasportare xké molto leggera. Ha in dotazione alcuni piedini e rocchetti per il filo, ha anche l'aiuto per infilare il filo nell' ago, ha inoltre diversi metodi di cucitura. Perfetta per le meno esperte come me, ma a cui piace cucire per creare cose nuove con gli scarti di tessuto. Non l'ho ancora utilizzato ma ha anche il taglia e cuci
