So far impressed with the sub, project not as easy as hoped, not the woofer's fault though
So far I'm definitely impressed. It can be very difficult to locate a drop-in replacement driver for a specialty enclosure, especially when the OM is no longer in business. I have a sweet little Pinnacle SubCompact6 mini-sub that I have enjoyed in office and bedroom systems over the years, but the voice coil developed distortion. Searched the web options for a true 6.5" subwoofer and found this Rockville. Measurements were close, but obviously so are tolerances in a 7" cube with lots of amp hardware installed (200W with physically separate transformer mounted on the bottom of the box). That transformer was the rub, literally. Even with the magnet boot removed from the Rockville, had to use thick high density gasketing tape to space the transformer plate out about 1/8" from the bottom of the box to get the clearance needed for the magnet. Got it all buttoned up though, still have a tiny air leak as the Rockville rubber gasket on the mounting flange is a bit too stiff to really compress into an airtight seal, will take it apart again and probably replace the Rockville rubber gasket with foam gasketing tape. It could also be one of the original screw holes as I needed to drill new ones for the Rockville hole pattern. Of course, none of this reflects on the woofer or Rockville whatsoever, nobody told me it would drop in. The selling point was that the measurements were awfully close, but I also needed 4ohm and this is available in either dual 2ohm or dual 4ohm, so I chose the dual 2ohm and wired in series to get a 4ohm nominal impedance. Also, Rockville lists the sealed enclosure volume as low as 0.14 cubic feet, and my enclosure is roughly 0.19. I know the specs show it doesn't play much below 50Hz, but I'm listening to music with bass notes in the 35Hz range and it is handling them pretty darned well for a 6.5" driver. Have to call the project a success, need to figure out a grill of some kind because the factory original was way too shallow. Sound is more important than cosmetics of course, and it's probably going back under the desk where it was before anyway. Would recommend, and would purchase again for a similar install.

Professional speaking
Professional car audio installer 25 years Boomer mcloud These speakers were surprisingly excellent. Reminds of the MA audio Highly recommended. Normal I would only recommend JL audio w3 But for the price these rockville subs are certainly worth the price. I would also recommend their amplifiers.

Not bad at all.
Sub hits really really hard and even though they have a reputation for blowing I haven't had a single problem with them running at 1kRms so as long as you don't over power them and stay below the rated power then they work amazing. Never power them above their rated rms power and they are great.

Worth the price
This subwoofer (10" K9 series) has truly blown me away! I usually dont write reviews but I wanted to add some clarity to the product reviews. I kept reading reviews like "Best cheap subwoofer out there" which didn't give me a good understanding of this sub. So far in the last few years I started with a 10" sub with a box from auto zone which was weak and distorted at high volume. Then I switched to a pyle 12" and after I blew that I got a kicker comp series 12" all of which were cheaper than this sub by a fair amount. The kicker was a very good sub IF you want outrageous amounts of bass. What I mean by that is that the bass would constantly overtop the treble. I like bass but it should be balanced out with the music. This K9 series I went with the 10" to try to fix that issue and it certainly did. The bass this sub produces is very clean and crisp. When I listen to rap it can still shake the hell out of the car, but it can also do those quick kicks to the chest. So overall the performance is outstanding. I believe the people that are saying this is the best cheap sub are refering to the quality of the sound it produces which cannot be replicated by cheaper subs. The build quality of this sub is also outstanding, it is a truly heavy duty sub.

It'll make your eyeballs rattle & knock free any lung butter you were saving for a special occasion!
I have this sub in a QBomb side ported box with bedliner and it's powered by the Rockville RDX-M1, the same amp I used to power the W12K6D2 (dual 2 ohm) that I was replacing. The difference between the two subs is night and day. The K6 in the same box would vibrate my nose hairs a little bit and shook the mirrors too. This K9 serie though, it vibrate every hair on my body. Even using an underpowered amp I have to turn the bass knob to zero so I can read street signs. This thing vibrates my freaking eyeballs. That's using an amp that's only rated at 500 RMS CEA rated. Best part is I didn't have to pay for the sub and no they didn't give it to me. Amazon doesn't accept returns but they will return your $ and tell you to donate it or toss it in the trash. Before it was delivered I planned on sending it back and planned on buying a Rockville Destroyer 12D2 12" instead. I'm glad I didn't because this sub in the Qbomb box with a way under powered amp is still in my top 2 subset ups I've owned and I've always bought name brand stuff never owned anything named BOSS or AudioPipe I was a Rockford Fosgate (best of their line stuff dating back to the 90's) but I really liked my 12" Kicker L7 paired with a 1000 watt 1000.1 kicker amp that was my best set up but it cost over $100 for the entire set up, self installed. You can get near the performance from this sub,a QBOMB side ported bx and a entry level M-1 series Rockville amp with 4 gauge install kit, upgrade the fuse to a circuit breaker, wire reducers (into the amp), banana plugs(into the amp & box terminals for under $37. If your building a system from scratch I would suggest buying the IGNITE R300/1D amp instead of a Rockville, it's $104 & $23 for a 3 yr warranty but for that $125 your going to get an amp that puts out like a prom date. Check youtube for the DYNO drag race, this IGNITE amp puts out 1100 watts (cea certified) at 1 ohm on the DYNO and 1122 watts uncertified. I know your saying I'm not buying some amp I never heard of but do yourself a favor and watch the youtube video and buy the 3 year protection plan and get a worry free 3 years of bass that will knock the dingleberries off your asss.

Comparable to my Skar Audio EVL-15" Sub!?!
I've been on a Rockville Binge ever since I bought their dB45 4-channel amplifier a few months back and loved how it performed! I had recently built a new sub box for my car to drop in a Skar Audio EVL-15 2-ohm DVC sub and since that also recommends 1250 RMS to push, I ended up replacing my old Kenwood amp with a Rockville RDX-M4 1500 RMS x 1 ohm amplifier. With that being said, I've been playing the heck out of that sub/amp for a month now and I'm extremely happy with how it sounds. So... I needed a second 15" sub for my other car... and I figured, why not the Rockville K9 15" 2-ohm DVC? :) I've broke it in for the most part over the past week playing it in my garage sub box (not nearly as low of tuning as my car's box) and decided to swap out the Skar for the Rockville and play the same thumping music I'd been listening to to compare apples to apples. My box is 4.25 cu ft after speaker/port displacement and two 4" x 17" aeroports tuned to around 28hz. Very happy to say that it's nearly identical! I believe the Skar still does hit a bit lower/harder than the K9 still but compared to every other sub I've owned, these 2 are in a class of their own. They both punch pretty well for 15's but that low frequency rumble is amazing on both of these subs! Extremely satisfied with this sub - especially at this price! The resistance I get on my multimeter shows the Skar between 0.9 ohms and 1.1 ohms and the Rockville is between 1.1 ohm and 1.4 ohms so there's probably a little power difference between the 2 in what my amplifier is pushing to them but it's pretty close (hopefully this is useful to anyone reading). I can tell a difference when the Skar is in my smaller/higher tuned sub box for sure - it's still more powerful than this Rockville K9, but again, for the price it's pretty darn close! Anyways, I'm a fan of the Rockville products and will definitely be buying more of their stuff down the road! Also utilized their tech support and am happy to report they are very responsive and willing to help!

Big Sound from a Small Upgrade
I bought the Rockville W65K9D2 to replace an underwhelming factory subwoofer in a compact sealed enclosure. The difference is night and day. This sub brought the low end to life โ tight, responsive bass without any distortion, even when wired to the factory amplifier. Installation was straightforward with minor modifications: Trimmed the internal support post to fit the deeper magnet. Used sound deadening material to reseal the enclosure. Wired just one 2-ohm coil to match the OEM setup. No amp upgrades, no fancy processing โ just better sound. For the price, especially here in Canada, this subwoofer offers incredible value. Highly recommended if you're looking to wake up your stock system without spending a fortune.

I have never expected such good quality of the sound and fabrication! Excellent product!
I have never expected such good quality of the sound and fabrication! Excellent product! I was about to buy the DS18 version, but this one has better characteristics. When building the box, the reflex tube must be calculated for a very high air compression. thank you!
