Handmade American Pottery Coffee Mug

I chose this mug as a Christmas gift from my husband. It’s a very pretty mug, well made mug…but, not quite what I expected.The design on the mug was very close to the one in the listing, but the finish and thickness surprised me a little. I wanted a mug with a “natural” look. The design made me think of earth, trees, mountains, and sky. Going along these lines, I had wanted a more “natural” glaze finish, much like that in the listing. The finish on my mug was very shiny. It’s not as large as I had thought, either. I should have paid more attention to its size.The thickness of the mug surprised me a little, too…but, I think that might just reflect its handmade nature.I do still think it’s a nice mug…but, may go back to the drawing board in order to find one a little more “natural” looking, and perhaps one a little larger.All in all, a nice mug…but, maybe not exactly what I was looking for.

I have been looking for handmade mugs large enough to hold a large Keurig brew size cup (12 oz.) of coffee. Who knew they could be found on Amazon? These are perfect (14 oz. to the brim)! And, they are stunningly beautiful!!! I love the uniqueness of the pattern. They are "sisters," but not "twins." The glaze is different on each mug and has a gorgeous luster with fine crackling, which can be seen in sunlight, on the bottom portion of the outside of the mug. I really enjoy drinking my morning cup of java. The mugs are heavy, which I imagine makes them more durable. My only criticism, a small one, is that I would find the handle more comfortable if it were placed higher on the mug. There is no doubt that Bruce Larrabee knows how to throw pottery! I am crazy about these! I highly recommend them. Additionally, they were very well packaged and shipped quickly.

I ordered a set of mugs because the photo looked very nice, but the photo on Amazon does not do these mugs justice. They are a work of art by an expert artistic craftsman. Not only do they look nice and very well made, but they are very functional; the perfect size, shape and comfortable handle, and a great price, too.

Use this every day. Very nice.

After searching the entire Amazon warehouse for a handmade coffee mug, I finally settled on this one. I chose Mauve/Red and absolutely love it. It's got a nice weight to it and the craftsmanship is superb.. the colors and finish are beautiful. The handle is just the right size for me to hold comfortably, although I do have fairly small hands. Overall, this mug was worth every penny. A nice little splurge for myself, and an item I'll keep in mind to purchase as a gift in the future.

I’m so impressed! This mug is my new favorite. It’s sturdy and easy to hold, even more beautiful in person than in the pictures, and holds big cups of coffee.

I got this as a gift for my husband who loves hand-thrown Pottery mugs. It came very nicely packed is very heavy and large and he has large hands so this has a great handle. Would highly recommend using this Pottery company again. They also enclosed a nice information sheet about the Potter who makes each piece. My son has asked now for mug from the same company. But definitely order from them again

I have this mug in EVERY color and they are perfect. However, there is clearly a quality problem with the green one. I have ordered it 5x (not kidding, I guess I am a glutton for punishment). The color on all of them were gorgeous, but messed up. One of them was actually broken ( i get it, that happens). The issue is hard to describe, but here goes. The drippings were not blended into the mug but 3 dimensional. You would think that was a great look, but it wasn't. It was as if the person making it took a knife and stopped the drip with a straight line across, or they packed it before it was dry. It was a very bizarre look. I went back to the ones I have in other colors thinking maybe I didn't notice, but nope, they are smooth and rustic as they should be. Thankfully, Amazon was great about the returns, but if you are eyeing the green one of these, just know you may get one that is not at all like these pics. I ended up keeping one, but its still not exactly right, but I love these mugs so I settled. I should have taken photos, but here is one with my brown version and the green one that I kept. Imagine that raised issue cut off half-drip.
