Carl Carl 62040 40-Sheet Capacity hc-240 Two-Hole Punch, 9/32 Dia. Holes, Silver, Metallic

This is a very well built, quality two hole punch, and it has worked great for us. This thing is built like a tank, and in 2 1/2 years of regular use at a business, it still looks and functions as if it were new. It is rated to punch through 40 sheets of paper. I like to be a bit conservative when punching, but I routinely do 30 sheets of (heavier) 22 lb paper. The cutters are still very sharp, and it punches through easily and cleanly. One reviewer noted that it punches too small, and the hole size is smaller than what it is rated. I will say that the hole size has never been an issue for us at all, but the review intrigued me. So, I measured the hole created with a very accurate dial caliper. The reviewer was correct, it is nowhere near 9/32" (but quite a bit larger than 7/32"). The holes this creates are just under 1/4", 0.246 to be exact. Again, this has not caused us any problems, but be aware that the holes are nowhere near 0.28125 (9/32") if you think that is an issue for you. If you read some of the other reviews, you'll see that several people don't like the guides. It is true that they don't lock into place, and can easily move. This hasn't even once been an issue for us, because I set the guides for an 8 1/2" sheet of paper once, and then taped them in place (on the underside) with scotch tape...and they haven't moved in 2 1/2 years. Still the original pieces of tape, even...see the picture attached to this review for where I taped on the underside of the punch. Bottom line: this is a totally solid, well-made two-hole punch. I strongly recommend it with one reservation: *IF* you will be needing to move the guides to fit different size paper, then you will obviously not be able to use the scotch tape trick to prevent them from moving. In that case, I'd recommend against purchasing this punch, because it will probably be very frustrating for you. If you only punch one size, though, then just tape them down and forget about it...you'll love the punch.

Well made and a pleasure to use. Especially if you switch often between side punch and top punch. Very easy to get it right with minimal fuss. I would buy again for sure. Will outlive me!

Incredible! Sharp, precise cuts whether just a few pages or the maximum advertised. I am very impressed! Wish I would have replaced my old punch years ago with this. I put a small piece of tape on each side of the slide to hold them in place; seems to be working. Like that it is heavy-duty metal construction and not plastic. Highly recommend.

this actually is a very nice unit. It punches the paper well and I purchased it because it has a guide for the right and left-hand side of the paper.. the only reason it’s not five stars is because these guides move too easily in my opinion. But the quality of this unit surpasses the others that I purchased and returned.

The self centering feature of this hole punch alone makes this one of the best. The extremely sharp, clean cuts with no papers sticking to the cutters makes it perfect.

Our nurses were getting tired of our old hole punches. It was always a struggle to get papers in and out of charts due to unpredictable centering. They couldn't punch more than 10 sheets at a time. They love this one.

This product is wonderful for punching multiple sheets at a time. It is not great for one or two sheets at a time. The guide centers the holes, and does not lock into place (at least I couldn't find a way to make it do that). It works good for stacks of paper because they are rigid enough to not collapse when you position the guides. One or two pages only will bend when you try to position the guides, though. I have two hole punchers on my desk, my old one, which does not punch more than 5 sheets, and this one which only punches 5 or more. Also, the guides will only center the holes, so if you want holes off center, this is not for you.

This is a finely-built, sturdy hole punch that centres the holes perfectly every time. Can't say enough about it. Don't over fill it (though it takes a pretty thick stack just fine) and it likely will last a lifetime.

Bought this for the office. We have gone through about 3 2 hole punches in the past 2 years so I am giving this one a try. So far it works great. It's seems to be very well made - better than the other brand we were using. The guides move quite easily so I just made a mark on the one guide to set the second setting I use and that works just fine. It cuts though larger stacks of papers quite easily. I haven't actually counted the stacks I've been punching but for sure on average I need to punch 15 pages or more with the odd one being close to the 40 sheet capacity.

Excelente producto , para mi caso no tengo problemas entre la separación de cada orificio, perforé 35 hojas sin problemas, fácil y sin esfuerzo, liviana no obstante eso no quiera decir que se sienta de construcción fuerte, algo de tomar en cuenta es que las guías no se pueden quitar y son muy sensibles por los que si le aplicas presión se mueve con facilidad, pues no hay como un seguro para que no se mueva, dejando eso de lado, repito excelente, actualizaré la reseña después de 3 meses de uso, para ver la duración de su filo sobre todo

Worauf ich nie gekommen wäre, der Lochabstand ist 1cm geringer als bei in Deutschland üblichen Ringordnern. Damit ist er für den Einsatz hierzulande leider völlig unbrauchbar.

Buen producto, se siente bien hecho. pero la distancia entre agujeros es diferente que la distancia de las carpetas verdes que uso comúnmente en la oficina para llevar registro. Sería bueno que en la descripción del producto viniera la distancia exacta entre centros de las perforaciones.
