Fly Fast...Sin Boldly: Flying, Spying & Surviving

Excellent biography of a very interesting and adverturous person, Bill Lear.
Bill Lear bought his first plane at age 18, a war surplus P-38, without even knowing how to start the engines. He managed and flew it home. That was the beginning of his aviation career in racing airplanes, selling airplanes, manufacturing airplanes and even spy work in Europe and Africa for the U.S. His personal life was a bit on the dark side which he admits in his book and described by the title, "Fly Fast, Sin Boldly."A great read. I bought the book used but it looked new and was signed by Bill Lear's last wife, Brenda.

An Interesting Piece of History
Haven't read it yet, but the used book arrived earlier than promised, is in excellent condition, and even has an autograph from the author to the original purchaser. Kinda neat.

If you are a pilot, you will love this book.
With a foreword by the world famous test pilot Tony LeVier, and an endorsement from Art Linkletter, what else is there to say? Well there is lots more to say about this book. Reading this book is simply lots of fun. When you can't go flying, this is the next best thing. I always thought that Ernest Gann author of "Fate Is The Hunter", was the best aviation writer. But now we are lucky, Bill Lear Jr. is a better writer, and story teller. He has a very exciting and entertaining aviation tale to tell. If you love or know some one that likes to fly, get them this book. Read it and then you may understand the addiction of flying. If you are a pilot you will love this book. Once you start reading this book, I'll bet you won't want to put it down.

Bill Lear Jr youth aviator
An excellent story of an interesting life, IF you are interested in early (post-WWII) aviation.

Fun reading for pilots
Pilots will enjoy this book. For someone to buy a Lockheed Lightning P-38 for a couple of grand is outrageous (and Bill Lear Jr. was only 17 at the time). The plane today, in flying shape, would be worth a few million dollars. There are other fun highlights - such as his Dad testing the windshield of the soon to be marketed Learjet. Running back and forth in the airplane to keep it in trim while ferrying the plane...hilarious stuff.
