Watch out for the drama trap! This book offers expert insight into drama, from jealousy to gossip to cyberbullying, and how to deal with it. You'll learn why drama exists, how it starts, what keeps it going, and how to cool it down. You'll find quotes and advice from real girls like you, plus tips and quizzes to help you rise above the drama game and keep yourself safe. Review: Surprisingly good - 5th grade teacher here, this book is well written and has good advice. I was not expecting the quality from an American Girl book, but here we are. Hoping it helps some kids navigate this pre-middle school time. Great book. Review: Get the book. You won't regret it. - I loved reading this book with my 10.5 year old. Friendships are always evolving at this age and challenges/situations arise and children need a bit of direction and don't always want to disclose that information to their parents. This book gives real life situations and some insight to what might be going on and gives solutions and helpful tips on getting through rough interactions. I have seen my child put into practice some of the things she has read and is a little better at making sure she is heard in her relationship with her best friend.

For all the the pre-teen girls that are learning about boundries
This book is very easy to understand and gets to the point, not a story book but more like a guide to learning new boundaries and keeping true to what you believe is right. Sometimes teenage girls don't want to listen to parents, but this book says it all and it's a good decision to read it and learn from it and apply what you learn, keep in mind that if you do what this book says, you will be smart and respected by others.

I feel these books will help girls Understand a little bit about life
I love these books I read a couple pages myself I haven’t given them to my granddaughter for Christmas but I think these are good books for kids and help some kind of understand how girls are when we’re together at least 12 years old. Sometimes kids get hurt each other’s feelings so these books are really good I bought three of them. Highly recommend

Helpful, Realistic Guide for Navigating Friend Drama and Social Situations
“Smart Girl’s Guide: Drama, Rumors & Secrets: Staying True to Yourself in Changing Times” is a really solid, age-appropriate book that helps kids understand social situations like gossip, exclusion, peer pressure, and online drama in a clear and grounded way. It does a good job breaking down what “drama” actually is and why it happens, while also giving practical ways to respond without getting pulled into it. The tone stays supportive rather than judgmental, which makes it easier for kids to reflect on their own experiences and make better choices in friendships. It also includes tips, quizzes, and real-life examples that make the content feel relatable instead of abstract. Overall, it’s a very useful wellbeing resource that helps kids stay confident, kind, and true to themselves when social situations get complicated

Great conversation starter
I got this to read with my daughter, it has certainly helped break the ice about some difficult friendships, some of the content is for older kids, but for 9 year olds it’s a good book to read together.

Not an American Girl fan, but these books are all about "it's okay to be you, even if everyone is different"
Bought this for a ten-year-old who doesn't yet have to deal with this (but it's probably on it's way)...she loved it, read it cover to cover and shared it with her friends. I'm not an American Girl fan: I think their products are over-priced and elitist, but their books offer an astoundingly grounded viewpoint that reinforces the "it's okay to be you, even if everyone is different" mantra that I can only respect and support. The book is not too thick, has pictures, and bright colours. There is a lot of empathy encouraged. I bought this in conjunction with the American Girl's "Smart Girl's Guide to Friendship Troubles".

Girl Smart Guide Series
Bought a lot of these books in the series for my twin daughters. Very well written, amazing advice, suitable for ages 10+ as described. Love these a lot as a Mother and my girls find them fun and incredibly informative to read. Would highly recommend!

Certainly worth recommendation!
Excellent book! I'm reading it together with my 11 yrs old daughter and we both love it! We're only half way through so far, but it is really well written. Appropriate language, not too infantile and not too serious. It's inspiring and offers a wide range of solutions for many popular teenage "problems". But there's no preaching or telling off. It just subtly suggests or sets the right mind set and lets the reader to draw their own conclusions! Perfect for a younger teenager.

Valuable advice for you doing girls
These books are brilliant, Americanised a bit for us English readers but the kids seem to like that. Really explores a subject in a cool, relatable way and helps talk through a topic that they don’t want to hear from mum or dad! Only wish they’d do them for boys!
