Pro-Knot Outdoor Knots - Portable Waterproof Knot Book

For the size and price, this little guide packs a lot of punch and information. Each card, the size of a playing card, is laminated and feels solid. They are double sided, so you get 20 knots in 10 cards. I've learnt all of them, though only remember a few without needing to refresh my memory. The brass grommet grips the cards well and feels sturdy. It has the dual benefit of keeping the cards neatly together and providing an eyelet, should you wish to use your new-found knot knowledge to tie it to something (I would think a reef knot would be appropriate). Each side has a single knot, with the benefits and uses of the knot clearly and succinctly explained, along with several clear pictures with instructions. I found the instructions easy to understand on the whole, and the thin red lines to indicate the flow of the rope are very well done. Some knots did take more trial and error than others, but I got there. This makes for an essential reference guide to have somewhere you won't forget it. It is a super compact and handy package with some great essential knots to help you out in the car, in an emergency, while traveling. I would, however, recommend that you don't chuck this in your bugout bag and forget about it. Practice at least some of the ones you think will be most handy for you. This will really make a big difference in a crisis: you will either remember the knots, or recall will be relatively easy. Muscle memory will also have been formed. Far better than learning from a scratch in a high stress situation.

The knots are perfect for my needs. Backpacking, hiking, camping these cards are perfect to reference. Print is easily read. Diagrams are easy to follow. Cards are durable plastic. Very pleased with this purchase. Highly recommend.

I got these reference cards to compliment my recent purchase of paracord. The details on these cards are very simple to understand and they are constructed quite well. I purchased this cause you just never know when you'll need to know some knots. For $5 I thought it was worth the purchase. Other reviews have listed the knots included. It seems durable, portable, instructions are mostly easily understood, and a range of knots for different purposes included. All the knots have recommend uses and which ones shouldn't be trusted in certain situations, very useful information. I debated but ended up taking one star off. There are a couple knots that are more difficult to understand from the pictures (figure 8 is one I remember). Depending on how you open up the cards, it can be difficult to read instructions, they have to be opened up a certain way. A couple knots seem kind of repetitive and perhaps different knots could be included instead. 'Outdoor' is quite general so there might some knots included that you don't need and/or others excluded that you do. Overall, I think it's a good thing to have around if don't know your knots and priced well. A good range of knots as stated from other reviewers.

These are well-made easy to understand durable They are easy to attach to pretty much anything with hole or hook. It covers some extremely helpful knots I ’ve left them in my truck so I could tie things on the racks as Well As tying down and attaching all kinds of construction equipment and being sure I did it correctly all you need are the cards and some good rope and you Are able to replace all kinds of straps and bungees without worrying about anything coming loose when it comes to knots especially if you don’t use them on a regular basis it gives you peace of mind And eliminate those horrible over under under over through under over Wrap it 4 time and pull very hard knots I constantly see especially at the lumber yard or at the home improvement store That almost guaranteed having to cut the rope once they reach the destination There is something gratifying about tying a simple secure not and then Being almost effortlessly untying it when you reach your destination or no longer need it If you have made it through this extremely long review of an extremely inexpensive product congratulations. In my humble opinion there is only one thing better than the cards and that would be if I could remember half of the knots on them

Sometimes you just need to tie a knot, and this thing really helps and guide and inspire the correct fastener approach to the situation in mind

Good size and good material, easy to read

I learned tying knots as part of being an Eagle Scout. As an adult I've taken the fact I know knots for granted. I just assume everyone knows how to tie a knot... I was wrong. As part of a week long canoe trip it was requested that I teach the others in the group knots. I bought these as a handy reference guide and teaching tool and gave one to each person. They were awesome as a visual aid for teaching. Each person used it to help them while they practiced. I like the fact they are waterproof and have a carabiner, so you can clip them to your equipment for easy access and not worry about it getting damaged.

Product is good. Its build quality is also nice. A handy guide useful for all time.

I suuuuuck at knots ... I'm good at doing them, but I don't retain the info at all. I can tie a knot a hundred times and two days later, I won't remember how to tie it (ADHD spatial issues don't help). I bought an ancient RV to do some outdoorsy things and realized that I will be going to places without cell service and will be up a creek without a paddle when it comes to setting up camp with tarps and tents and dogs and no knot knowledge (knotledge?). So I picked this up. Just clips to a bag and Bob's your uncle ... knots gallore. I tried following the directions and tying all the knots and I was able to tie them all (some took a couple of tries), so the instructions are very good! I will be able to tie anything down now! Very nice product, definitely add it to your emergency or camping supplies if you're knotically challenged like I am.
