Concerning the brand, mine did not have one either. Although I am not too certain of any flaws related to this product. I would suggest you contact the seller if you have any issues or concerns about that.

Mine came with a black stone. Why and what is it for?

It’s black tourmaline (well at least mine was). Black tourmaline is a protective stone and a grounding stone that goes well with nearly all crystals and stones. It was a nice freebie they included.

Am I supposed to do anything with it when I first get it?

Always cleanse your crystals because other people handles them from order picking to packing to shipping etc. that’s a lot of other people’s energy. Also charge it. I charge mine with full moon but whatever method you prefer. Set your intentions with your crystal.

How is the resin for this obtained and made clear?

Resin is clear in general... If you see it in a color it's because dye was added.
