Works great, but may not fix your problem.
I had an old XBox 360 Arcade that had been through a lightning storm and had lost it's HDMI and network ports. I was resisting buying a new XBox and trying to save money so I ordered one of these adapters to try to get my XBox Live back. I plugged it into the USB port and it recognized it immediately and then took me through setting up my connection. It worked great for about 30 seconds until it detected that something had plugged into the network port (which I hadn't). Then it switched back to wifi, then back to ethernet, and so on. So clearly the network port was not done being angry.Supposedly there is a way to rig a paper clip into your network port so it doesn't do this (check YouTube) but I didn't have the patience. Other than that, there's no fix I'm aware of for the operating system to make it stop doing this. Take my advice: just wait until an XBox goes on sale and buy a new one with built in Wifi. You'll be much happier in the long run and won't have to waste time like I did.

My Last Hope
After what felt like a lifetime of lag and dropped connections to XBL due to using a XBox360 Adapter G, I finally broke down and bought the N type adapter. As I have no experience with setting up wifi myself, I relied on others to set up a wifi "bridge" that ran from the south end of my home (which is where the main wifi hub is located) to the outside guest house on the northern end using an N type router (where the 360 is located). Having been using the XBox360 G type adapter in the guest house for years, it was a painful gaming experience. Since the upgrade to the N type adapter, I found that lag was neutralized and disconnects eliminated.Having read a few other reviews that mentioned that the reception wasn't that great for upstairs signals and exterior locations, I was a bit pessimistic going in with the price point being an issue as well. Ultimately, it proved to be a great product, but still at a higher than expected price of $59.96 . Maybe at $35 -$40 it would be a better deal.

Perfect
i debated for a very long time on rather to purchase this one, or a cheaper non-micorsoft version. I end up deciding on this one due to the positive reviews, and i am very glad that i did.PROS:-arrived perfectly. the box was in perfect condition. the actual adapter was too.-incredibly easy to use. just hook it onto the back, and the xbox takes over. all you have to do is enter your wifi password. that is it.-it catches the signal. my wifi is pretty far away from my xbox. i was very worried i wouldn't get a good signal. but i get full strenth.-it isn't noticable. it hooks onto the back of the xbox, so it isn't distracting or ugly.CONS:-the price. it is steep price for what it is, but i purchased it for the peace of mind knowing that IT WILL WORK. that made it worth it.conclusion? yes. i would buy this again. it works beautifully.

Worthless junk
Ordered for my xbox 360 I can get online access through a direct connection with cat 5 cable to my wireless router but plug in the wireless adapter and won't even connect to the internet worst investment ever my advice stay away from wireless for xbox 360 Microsoft has already screwed the network up from Xbox 360 being able to use it I don't see a point in a refund so he can rip someone else off your Welcome for the warning

Very little difference compared to a direct connect depending on where it is.
I was very worried when I decided to move my xbox because I said oh man the wifi will kill my speed on games and downloads. Nope. It is nearly identical to a point that I don't even really notice if there is a difference. Gaming online is also nearly flawless. I have had zero issues with this item and for $50 or whatever it is now it is worth it. The setup is easy as can be. If you can't set this up then you fail as a human. You literally just need to select it. I will say that sometimes it is a little slow connecting initially to xbox live or I need to remind it to connect but normally that is quick and painless and to have no wire hanging from the ceiling is worth it to me.
