Lineco Archival Document Repair Tape, 1 Inch x 35 Feet, Pack of 1

This is what it is advertised as, and you can barely notice it when you place it on the page of a book. It is thin and can be difficult to get off the liner. I used it on one book over a crack in the binding, and that was not really worth it. The book just had damage. However, the tape did work well and seems to be holding the pages despite the broken binding. It required a lot of tape to do that. It is more for smaller tears and torn pages and not putting over the broken binding. Maybe it is better to use glue for a broken binding or speak to someone more knowledgeable. It worked well when I used smaller pieces to fix a tear. It was hard for me to manage a longer piece as it was very thin and adhesive. It also seemed barely noticeable when used on book covers. It will repair single torn pages very well, but beyond that it is probably better to look into something else. It is document repair tape and not book repair tape.

This is a great product. But the tape I ordered was not 12 feet. It was 7 feet of tape. Not sure if this is a manufacturing problem or something. I used it on a picture, it worked well. But you may not want to buy from this person since they're skimping on the quantity.

This tape holds in my tip-ins inside my Bible and bonus - I can write on it. It does leave a slight haze on the paper (it is not fully clear). The only issue is how hard it is to pull the tape from the backing at first. It takes a minute or two to get the setup started using the package as a dispenser. First, I have to slowly peel the sticker off the bottom of the package, then unflap the small piece with the instructions on it before unflapping the large bottom. Unroll part of the tape and put it back in the box while part of the tape is sticking out near where the small box flap is. Close the bottom of the box with part of the tape sticking out. Separate the tape from the backing and then lay the backing across the bottom and close the small flap. (Use a small piece of the tape to seal the flap.

Got this for a used book I had with a torn page as typical tape is not recommended. It seems to work, it's not totally translucent and is a royal pain to separate the tape from the backing paper. Once you get it separated, you just need to be careful in applying it to the page (have it lined up before you bring the tape down). Small pieces work better I found.

I love this stuff! Repair documents and books. Wouldn't be without it!

Consistently good quality for fine Bible page repairs, tip ins, flaps, etc for bible journaling. Very versatile, adhere well to multiple textures, and mostly transparent.

First, a clue for those who are concerned about the fact that this is thin tape on backing and it may be hard to remove from the backing: The working tape is on the convex side of the tape roll as you unroll it. Unroll and cut a little longer than you need for the repair, then fold about a half inch or a little less inward (toward the concave side), crease, unfold, and refold again, if necessary, to free a bit of working tape from the backing. Once the tape is lifted a little off the backing, scrape it with a fingernail or knife and you can easily peel it off the backing. Be careful not to let the unpeeled tape roll up on itself. I used this to repair an old Japanese language book printed on very thin paper. The repair was invisible when done. I used a bone folder to smooth and flatten the pages (which also had a little water damage) before I started, a sharp knife to trim the excess tape, and the bone folder again to smooth out my repair and make the tape invisible. The text is perfectly visible beneath the repair. This is a U.S.A. made product. I think it is the best product out there for repairing torn pages in books.

I did a lot of reading on archival/document repair tape before blindly diving in and buying the first thing that caught my eye, and this appeared to be one of the best products out there for my needs. The tape is very impressive and worth the money. I have read and seen reviews on various websites stating how difficult it is to remove this tape from its backing. To be fair, it can be pretty tricky - but you're also not dealing with Scotch Tape here. This tape is thin like rice paper (maybe thinner) and needs to be more protected. There are several ways to remove this tape, including: bending a small corner to loosen the tape from the backing, using your fingernails or a knife. I discovered my own method of removing it, and I would suggest to anyone purchasing this tape to practice with a small piece of it first to see what method works best for you. Like anything else in life, you need to practice before getting the hang of it. This tape is not completely invisible, but then again no tape is. If you're using the tape to repair dust jackets or one-sided documents, then I would suggest making the repairs on the reverse side of these things so that no tape is visible from the front. I have already tested this on one dust jacket and one document, and repairing from the opposite side only works exceptionally well. This product is definitely worth the money, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a safe way to repair documents and other paper related items.
