22 length x 8 1/4 width x 4 height is the dimension of the case. The inner dimension is 20.75 x 7 x 2.5 inches.

How secure are the latches? Do you feel the need to lock the case? On my old case the latches would open up, chips everywhere. Don't want that.

I have now been using these cases (I bought 3 initially) for almost 2 years. I have never locked the case, never thought I had the need to as the latches hold VERY well. And I have never had these cases come open unexpectedly. In fact, after almost 2 years of every 2 week usage, the only "damage" I have experienced is some very minor cosmetic scratches. All the bumpers, latches and cases are still in VERY good condition. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THESE CASES!!!!! I know I will never buy anything different again.
