The Lost Man: 'Her best book yet' Evening Standard

Absolutely 'Her Best Book Yet'
A gloriously slow burner with the pace slowly but surely accelerating to a tragivc but wholly appropriate ending. I have read both of Jane Harper's earlier works and loved them. She is a superb writer, always avoids the cliched plots that have become so common in thrillers/crime novels, and 'The Lost Man' is a real tour de force. One of the few writers whose next book I will be looking out for.

Couldn't put it down!
I loved this book and read it in 2 days!Wonderful story and the very best of her books, for me. Highly recommend it if you like a good family drama/ mystery set in the outback of Australia .

Scorching story
This is a very good read. You are dropped into a story where the family dynamics and the weather take centre stage. You can feel the unbearable heat and sibling tensions. The unravelling of the plot is well paced and we are led to the denouement without too much drama - though it is far from dull!

Very good!
I really enjoyed this book, more than the others. I liked learning about the family, relationships are and there are lots of characters to like. Good twists.

I did read it
I enjoyed the first book I read by this author, but they do seem to have a lot going on in them, which I sometimes had problems following the plot

Life after death...
From the beginning I was wondering where this was going. There were no clear strands to latch on to but oh, so slowly I was snagged and dragged into a full on mystery, totally unpredictable! Finally pieces began to fall into place and I loved it.

Up the the standard of The Dry and Survivors. So that's good.
It's very claustrophobic. Based around an extended family in a closed home in the outback. Not back to the dry, but a different slant. Good character development, but, perhaps, not up to her usual standard, but still of decent quality.Characters were bouncing off the walls, each-other, and the scenery. She's not being paid to glam up life in the outback, but you can feel its attraction. The writing almost made you feel dusty.I liked it despite guessing the guilty party fairly early on. But the book is more than just a who-done-it. Much more.
