The Toymaker [DVD]

Excellent film
Out of all of the Roberts films this one has to be the best because it actually has a story line to it. It is set in Nazi Germany and a man has a book which the Germans are looking for. That book contains magic which can bring objects to life and the Nazis are trying to track down this book. Excellence from the beginning to the end and he's definitely not boring like the other Robert the doll films in which there was no plot or anything would highly recommend this film.

Tense, Dark and Very Atmospheric: LOVED IT.
Brilliant film. Set in the 1940s, during the regime of the Nazis, The Toymaker is a creepy tale of how one elderly store owner comes across a manuscript of top secret occult material - material that, in his hands, brings about a series of horrific events. The acting in this film is brilliant - Lee Bane and Erick Hayden in particular truly shine in their roles. The film itself is very tense, really atmospheric with a few scares thrown in. I loved it. My favourite of the three Robert films by Andrew Jones.

Film of two halves
This is a film of two halves. The first half is brilliant...intense, serious and emotional and the second half is almost like a kids movie or perhaps a homage to B movie classics. The acting is superb by all the cast but you may get the impression that it isn't acted so well because of the way the movie is directed. The main character, the actual Toymaker has terrible unrealistic make-up which sort of ruins it. I'm happy I watched it, but it's a shame as this film could have been so much more..

Whatever you do, do not waste your time with this
My God, what was I thinking of????? This has to be ranked among my top ten of bad bad bad films. The acting, the props, the make up and the story all equaled each other in splendid dross. I wasn't sure that the scruffy, part shaven SS officer was in the correct film. He would have looked more at home in a film of another nature (where people lose their clothing and don't have to act). I purchased 3 films in this series and dread to think that I may need to watch two more. Lucky my wife did not see it as she would have certainly harped on about wasting money and I would have had no defence.
