A Must Buy Preparation Guide for CISSP
This book definitely helped in my success in the CISSP exam. Once you read the first chapter (or few) you get used of how the authors write and express their ideas. This is helpful to speed read through topics you are already familiar with, if you want, but be cautious of which topics you think you are 100% familiar with, because they explain additional details and the "wording" needed for the exam. I highly recommend this book as your official study guide. You should also download the CISSP app for android (if applicable to your phone) for on the road (or out and about) study. As most of know already, study everyday for a least 2-4 hours if you work; otherwise, study all day! Because if you decide to study less, you will certainly forget the details and topics of the first chapter once you get to the fifth (if even that far). Additionally, you might need to purchase or research specific details of topics that you do not understand thoroughly. This book has those websites as references as they explain!!! Kudos++. Again, this book is a definitely a good buy and best choice for the CISSP exam.

It's ok, but there are better
I bought this book because it was put out by the group that actually sets the exam and I had high hopes. But this book suffers from many problems.1. Redundant. There are many sections that are repetitive - almost direct copy/paste. The book tops out at 1400+ pages and this is one reason why.2. Copy Editing was HORRIBLE. There are so many production and edit errors in this book that it's actually very distracting. I started to highlight some of the errors but there were so many that there was no real point. Misnaming services, obvious track changes mistakes where old text wasn't deleted. Just BAD. They need to get a professional copy editor and proof reader on this, because it's very bad.I could go on, but there's no need. There are other books out there that are written much better. Get the book by Shon Harris...6th edition. WAY better.

Great Resource, Poor Editing... Still worth buying for the information.
I purchased and thoroughly studied this official text. While this was an excellent resource, I desire to provide my feedback to help improve the book for future readers. Most of the comments below should be simple corrections and would greatly improve product quality.1) Missing pages. Completely missing pages 73-84 (part of the Access Control domain).2) Repeating paragraphs (page 102).3) Exponents/Formula formatting issues (multiple: pages 291, 826-826, 883, and others).4) Mislabeled Tables/Figures (multiple: pages 408, 825, 936, 1128-1129).5) Repeated choices in multiple choice questions (multiple: domains 3 and 5).6) Repeated questions in quizzes (domain 9, page 1249).7) Lack of Agile SDLC in domain 4 (I strongly believe this should be included in the next update).8) Lack of Summary section in domain 10.While most of these notes are cosmetic, numbers 1, 5, 6, and 7, detracted significantly from my experience with the book. For those buying this... It really did help me but it seems to be sloppily edited.

If you want to gain knowledge and undrestand the concept buy this book
I was really afraid of reading this book because of the huge amount of 1& 2 stars .however when I start reading it .I found it is very helpful. To pass the exam is something and to gain the knowledge is something else .this book is too deep maybe compare to other CISSP books but it will help you understand the concept.

Reads poorly, content does not flow well, index vocabulary is poor.
I purchased this since it is endorsed by ISC. However, the book seems like a sloppy attempt at copying and pasting information from various sources.1. The book has many typographical errors.2. Content is sometimes poorly explained and sections from a given chapter do not maintain conceptual flow.3. The index is poorly written. Due to an poor collection of index words, finding topics can be tedious. While this book just may be sufficient to pass the exam, I would recommend supplementing this with the Shon Harris AIO. The Shon Harris book is sufficient on it's own. Had I purchased it first, I would not have purchased the the ISC CBK.

Passed CISSP the First Time
Very detailed and dry book, but it provides great insight. Use this book and Eric Conrad's CISSP Study Guide and 11th Hour CISSP Study Guide and you should be set.

What a terrible "official" book
A TERRIBLE guide!! ISC2 makes the most simple concepts very complicated and really hard to understand (compared to the Shon Harris...compared to any other study guide). You're better off watching youtube explain it! And not to mention the horrible editing job full of spelling and syntactical errors. There's a section that is explaining the Layer 5 Session layer that ends with something along the lines of, "Layer 6 protocols include NFS, Netbios..." So make sure you pay attention! And because of the way some paragraphs are aligned, you have some sentences that have no spaces-yesyoureadthatright,nospaceswhatsoeverandtheentirelinelooksalotlikethis. The section headers are vague , and unlike Shon Harris, it does not do a review or give a bulleted list of the main points of the section (which I find very helpful in a 1000+ page book). I'd knock a book for the technical editing alone, but for it to have bad editing AND is impossible to understand??! This is the THIRD Edition?! Let's just say if you're planning on buying this book, make sure you have ANOTHER book to reference!

Useless
This is a reference book. Internet will bring you the same, faster.(ISC)2 makes you buy this (overpriced) book, but it is not necessary to pass the CISSP exam.Note that this comment is for the 3rd edition. They just published a 4th edition, that seems to be a better deal.
