Didn't even know there was a difference between a "New 3DS" and a "3DS"
This is amazing! When I bought this, I didn't know that it was the newest version of the 3DS so I am more than happy with my purchase. There are so many great features. Prior to purchasing this, I only had a DSi. This is a massive improvement. Pros: - The console is backwards compatible. Your old DS or DSi games will definitely work on this, you just won't be able to use the 3D function on them. (For example, my copy of Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns runs flawlessly. I'd argue that it runs better than it did on the DSi) - The XL screen prevents me from squinting at the screen as I had done on my DSi. It also makes the device itself larger and easier to hold. Even with my small hands, it was a struggle to wield my DSi so I would always recommend an XL screen. - There's a smaller "knob" which can help focus the camera/ control your game much better than you could in the original 3DS. This, along with the other analog stick, makes playing very enjoyable. - The interior is matte. This prevents smudges and fingerprints. - So many cameras. There are two in the back and one in the front. I could play with just the cameras all day. - 3D isn't as headache-inducing as it was on the original 3DS. They've improved the face tracking in this version which has made it leaps and bounds easier on my head. - I don't know how the browser was for the original 3DS, but this is amazing compared to what it was for the DSi. Pleasantly surprised that Nintendo has created a browser that will run Youtube, especially in such a visually pleasing way. The buttons indicate that you may be able to use the 3D functionality on videos, but I haven't come across anything that works well yet. Cons: - The layout isn't as visually pleasing as the original 3DS, in my opinion. There used to be three buttons just below the touch screen but now there is only one (the home button). Also, the holes for the speaker are a weird plus sign pattern instead of the nice circle. - At the moment, there aren't any great console-exclusive games. Nintendo has stated that there would be games that could run on this, but they're not big titles or anything. As a result, the shoulder buttons seem kind of useless. - I bought mine used- like new for $140 from Amazon's warehouse deals. I would not at all pay the $200 for it. Most of the games for this system (even those that are old) are $30-50. Buying a system that is worth four-to-five of the games that run on it is a little absurd. If you have the cash it is worth it, otherwise I would wait for the price to drop or scope out the warehouse deals as I did. If you have the money to buy this and a handful of games for it all at once, then I think it's a fantastic buy. But if you have to wait and save up for the games then you may become a little disappointed in the system. It might also be a good upgrade if you're still in the DS/DSi era, like me. It's roughly the same price as the original 3DS, so if you're making a choice between this or the original I would recommend this. It's definitely fun to use and can even bring new life to games that you may have had sitting around for a while (that analogue stick has saved me from so many hand cramps already!). Can't wait to start digging in to the games I've been missing out on.

Excellent system.
There's not much more to say about the system that hasn't already been said. I was given this, as well as a copy of Pokemon: Alpha Sapphire, as a gift and I absolutely LOVE it. This is the first 3DS system I've owned, and I am really, REALLY pleased with the build quality of the device. It seems to process app and games very quickly, and the video quality for the Netflix and Youtube apps exceeded my expectations. (Just don't expect 1080p quality.) Obviously, the two biggest gripes people would have are there being a lack of a charger, and the switch to an internally-installed micro SD. Being that I already own a DSi (the charger for the DSi works with this system.), and I plan on only buying physical games, these were not turnoffs for me. If you've never purchased a 3DS and are looking to buy one, I COMPLETELY recommend this one. It is amazing. Just know you'll need a charger if you've never owned a DSi, either. I'd recommend buying a 3DS USB cable instead of the stock Nintendo charger, though. It gives you the flexibility to charge from USB chargers, computers, and power banks.

Definitely not new, but works.
The system came and there’s a huge scratch on the bottom, screens are scratched, outer shell is scratched, round disk on the controls is scratched up and nicked on an edge. Came with a janky 3rd party split charger and used micro sd card with photos and videos still on it. All buttons still work, reads games, has a new stylus, 3d and face tracking works. Not worth the price for this condition. This is used fair condition if not poor and will need a lot of refurbishing on top of what was paid for the unit. Update: Price needs to be dropped by about $160 or more for amount of replacement parts on top of the unit. Needs: Screens (after cleaning, the scratches are deeper than first appears), touch pad screen (due to misreads and scratches), card reader bc some of the 3ds and ds games won’t read or crash mid game even after cleaning both game and slot, buttons due to material wearing down, shell (if u can find one) due to all the scratches on them, rubber screw cover (one was missing out of the box), battery (to be safe), circle pad, right nub due to misreads, and bumpers bc they stick sometimes.

A review FOR THE SYSTEM, NOT THE SCALPERS.
I am writing this review as someone who owns an older model 3DS XL. The slider pad hat broke on my old 3DS, and it was starting to freeze whenever I would go to the home screen while a game was running, so, I bought an N3DS. I'm happy to say that overall, the N3DS looks and feels like a better quality console compared to it's older counterpart.....except for the slider pad..... *sigh*, I hope this one doesn't break too. But all the other buttons feel great. Software...WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Load times are noticeably improved. But the processing speed for the games....Difference is night and day. Playing Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on my old 3DS: The frames dropped frequently, causing a lot of juddering. I disconnected frequently while playing online. On the N3DS: Frames are super smooth and fluid. The game actually got a touch more difficult since the monsters move faster, giving me less time to react! I rarely disconnect while playing online now. So, why four stars and not five? This is what the 3DS should've been in the first place. Thanks to NIntendo's lowered quality standards and rush to get a new system out, I had to buy TWO of them. If Nintendo had released this one in the first place, I wouldn't have had to buy another system, and I'd be a much happier customer. I hope Nintendo doesn't continue in this fashion, I won't stay with them if they do. I've been a loyal Nintendo fan and customer for about 25 years, and I would rather stay that way!

I was a little bit skeptical about upgrading to a New 3DS, considering my old navy blue model still works fine. I had never previously had an XL version of a Nintendo handheld device either, as I often viewed the quality as being slightly lower than the original (smaller) counterparts. I ultimately chose to buy this for the improved processing power, allowing better play of Super Smash Brothers. Pros: - The enhanced 3D functionality through face tracking is outstanding! I never liked the 3D on my old 3DS, and often got headaches from trying to use it. These problems are completely erased for a far better experience with the New 3DS XL! I've found myself playing old games over again just to appreciate the 3D graphics that I couldn't enjoy before. This stable new 3D is what the original 3DS *should* have provided. - The New 3DS XL is of higher quality than previous DSi XL or 3DS XL consoles. The volume and 3D sliders are well made, and stay firmly where you drag them to. The speakers and overall build quality on my model is excellent! - The controls are easy to use and feel very comfortable in my hands. I haven't had much use for the added nub or ZL/ZR buttons yet, but they certainly don't get in the way. - The improved speed relative to the old 3DS models is notable, and downloads are much faster on this device. - The hinges for the screen click comfortably into one of two positions, and the upper screen experiences very minimal shaking when the 3DS is moved around while open. - The screens, body size, shape, and weight of the New 3DS are fantastic! Now that I have used this console, my old 3DS feels tiny and clunky in my hands by comparison. The New 3DS XL fits very comfortably in my hands, even through long periods of use. Cons: - The larger screen appears to have the same resolution as my smaller old 3DS does, making some of the graphics look slightly more pixelated than I would normally be used to. Overall the graphics are still very good, and this is only noticable in some specific situations. - The power button is located near the pen holster, and there have been multiple times when I've almost pressed it accidentally when blindly groping around for the pen. - Having the game cartridge on the bottom/front of the console makes me feel like I might accidentally eject it more often than if it were on the back of the 3DS like it has been previously. This is probably just me being paranoid though. Overall I would highly recommend the New 3DS to anyone that can afford it. Please remember that this device DOES NOT come with it's own charging cable, this was a non-issue for me as I kept my old console as well. The concerns that I have with it are almost entirely minor ergonomic ones, are are greatly overshadowed by the upgraded 3D and processing power. I will not be purchasing a non-XL model again after experiencing the luxury of the larger screens and well spaced button layout that this has.
