GS Power 10 AWG Wire 25ft - OFC Copper Automotive Speaker Wire Spool

Great 'real copper' cable. I bought this product to use as dc power cord on my 10m band mobile radio transceivers. I replace most of the original 'smaller guage' cable for the radios to transfer the 13.8v with minimum voltage ⚡ drop. Works fantastic. I bonded both cables together to extend power cord. Excellent cable.

I measure the area of the conductor as about 6.5 mm**2 (including space between strands), which corresponds to 10 AWG. I wanted to get it into the screw terminals on a Neutrik speakON (only really intended for 12 AWG, but I have the newer variant that leaves a bit more room). A 10 AWG ferrule would not fit into the terminal, so I used a 12 AWG one, and had great difficulty getting the wire in. I measured the internal diameter of the 12 AWG ferrule at 2.87 mm => 6.5 mm**2 area. That seems larger than expected, but I think these ferrules leave some extra room, to make it easier to get the wire in.

I regularly use this to carry 40 amps continuously in a battery application. The strands are not as fine as others, and it is not silicone insulation. This makes it more stiff, but it works fine and crimps great to connectors. Good value. Very easy to strip using the 10 gauge slot in my Klein stripper (so I am not measuring with precision, but that and the fact it works great with all of my 10 gauge crimp connectors is good enough for me). I am using it in a 24v application indoors, I would not recommend it for outdoor use since I think the insulation will degrade quickly in sunlight. While flexible enough, it is not "floppy" like the ultrafine wire strands with silicone insulation. This is actually a good thing since bends will stay put, rather than shorting out the ring connectors I have crimped on the ends.

Good quality product. Would be better if it was stamped with the 80°C insulation temperature rating. As is common with electrical cable, it can be important and useful to have the insulation temperature rating and AWG size stamped onto the insulation so that its current capacity can be later determined, post installation.

Oxygen free, 100% copper. This is NOT copper clad. Nice thickness to copper wire and insulation. Easily pliable, easy to work with. 100% copper isn't cheap, but this product was one of the lower cost alternatives. Used it to carry 30 amps of 12 volt for a trailer electric jack, about 12 foot length.

Did as I needed, used in a home theater system.
