BEST CASIO I HAVE EVER OWNED!
If you're like me and you like the look of a Tag Heuer Formula 1 watch combined with digital accuracy and a FOREVER battery, then this watch is a MUST, especially at 39 percent off list!!! I owned a Tag Heuer Formula 1 watch for about 8 years when the battery ran out for the third time. In this post-lockdown era of skilled labor shortages, your only option for getting a new battery installed is to send it back to the Tag USA headquarters in NJ. So I did that and to my surprise after waiting over a month, they said it would cost over $300 to replace the battery and perform maintenance on all of the seals. No thanks - this Casio is a much better value, with the perpetual solar battery (watch came fully charged), sharp Formula 1 looks, and the digital accuracy. I was amazed when I first set the time on the watch: you set the correct time zone and then the time automatically is set by satellite. The really amazing part is that the minute and hour hands then automatically synced themselves to the correct time - I have never seen that before. In fact, you can't even set the hands manually. What an incredibly good-looking watch and accurate for the price. It's also really lightweight and thinner so not clunky, and with my thinner wrists, the diameter is just right! Lastly, the luminescence of the dials is adequate -- I can see the time in pitch black darkness but it's not strong. And as others have mentioned, the LED screen is a tad small and hard to read when the hands are in the vicinity. The only real weakness: the mineral glass already shows an abrasion line after just under a month. Sapphire mineral glass it is not, but then for the price, you can't get a better deal overall than this!

Looks good and works great
Function and looks were the highest priorities for me, not price (though saving money is not a bad feeling). I was willing to pay more, but I could not find anything that I thought looked OK until I got over $200 for a Citizens watch. Since I wear the same watch all the time, it had to be appropriate for both work and leisure. And I wanted a solar watch, so I would not have to worry about the waterproof seal when I replaced a battery. The solar charging for this watch works well. It is easy to make a check list of requirements and check them off for various watches (solar, waterproof, analog, good looking, countdown timer, alarm clock, etc). Using this method, this watch scores high. The only feature this watch seems to be missing is being atomic (being able to automatically set the time itself). However, most of the atomic watches I looked at were slightly too big and bulky for my taste. Besides, this watch is so accurate, once you set the time correctly you won't need to readjust it very often at all. However, the method of making a check list of requirements and checking them off is not the be all, end all of choosing. Interesting enough, just about every watch has its intricacies and quirks, this watch is no exception. Perhaps the biggest problem with this watch is reading it in the dark. The analog hands glow (somewhat) in the dark and and there is a button for lighting up the digital readout (which even lit up, is hard to read for my old eyes). Another defect is that the alarm (for the alarm clock and the countdown timer) isn't very loud. The only other problem I can think of is about once an hour the minute hand partially blocks the digital readout. In short, buying a watch involves compromise. One should be aware of what compromise you are making before buying. Different things are important to different people. I am quite happy with this watch, compromises and all.

Nicely executed, cheap watch
I have had a lot of cheap watches like this over the years. I have much nicer and more expensive dress watches I wear for work. But for watches like this - which get worn mainly on the weekends, for travel and when working in the garden and so forth - I am a reasonably active guy and can be hard on them. I've found that the Casio watches generally hold up better than some of the others I've had, so I decided to get another one when the old one I had finally started acting wonky. Here's what I like: The orange/black contrast makes the analog portion of the watch very easy to read. Unlike a lot of cheap digital watches, this one is very nicely sized. It is neither too big and bulky, nor too small. It is relatively thin for a digital watch, more like the thickness of a higher-end dress watch. A lot of cheap watches like this are really ugly. This is not one of them. It is actually good enough looking that I can wear it to work or take it as my only watch when traveling. I wouldn't call it a dress watch, but it gets by in a way a lot of digital watches can't. There is no traditional stem to set the analog face, you do everything with the buttons. The stem on a watch is fragile part - I have had them break - so a design that doesn't have one means there is one less thing that can break. It has a solar charging system - meaning it draws energy from the sun and so it should never need a new battery during its expected lifetime (10-12 years). It is light weight and reasonably comfortable to wear, despite the plastic band. I like that there are air holes on each side to help keep the band from getting hot and sweaty in warm days. It is waterproof and has a way to quickly flip back and forth for daylight savings time (it has to be done manually, but is just a setting - you don't have to actually reset the time). Here is what I don't like: Like other reviewers - I REALLY don't like the fact that the day/date don't appear together in the LCD. You have to push a button to see the day of the week. The button you use cycles through local time, date, day. The seconds appear constantly this whole time, because, of course, I need to know the seconds at all times. You can tell the design engineers made that decision, not normal people. Then there is this thing to the right of the window like a progress bar that serves absolutely no useful purpose, other than to tell you the watch is still running. I assumed it would show the battery level of the solar battery when I bought it. But it doesn't - it just counts off 5 seconds over and over and over. I leave the little display on date, because I usually know the day of the week at least. But this is such an obvious design failure - it frankly surprises me that Casio would allow the watch into production without a day/date mode for the LCD. The hands have those glow in the dark things on them, but the light doesn't light up the analog portion of the watch. In a dark theater you have to hit the light, then cycle through that same day, date, & time button to get the time. The light is the older kind like you remember from years ago, not the kind that lights up the whole display itself. That is probably a trade-off due to the solar battery. You will need to keep the manual. Fiddling with the world time and getting it to swap the world time for the local time is not exactly intuitive. Setting the watch is not hard for somebody with basic technical skills, but the display is very small. You pay for the fact the watch looks good with a digital display that is pretty tiny. Overall - I'm satisfied. This is the nicest looking cheap watch I've ever owned. There are some trade-offs with looking good, but I can live with those. Assuming it holds up - it is a very good value. The only thing about this watch that really annoys me is the unforced error of not showing day/date together.

Arrived earlier than expected which is great. The watch is well made and is slim compared to my other Casio G shock watches. Medium size, slim face. Very easy to operate and setup. Watch face very clear and easy to read, even the small digital. Pleased with purchase and price 5* Update forgot to mention for those Casio Solar fans out there, the solar power battery level indicator usually a simple tiny LCD mark is now accessed via pressing the the watch mode button. It's simply low, mid or high and is marked clearly.

This is a nice watch and very cheap. Does the job ok. On a positive side, it is sun-powered so no need of charging or battery replacement as long as there is a light source. I also liked the time zone adjustment - the hands start spinning and stop at the right time when you change the time zone. Unfortunately, it looks cheap. Cheap plastic, very rigid stripe. Time is hard to read because of plastic glass glare on bright light. Very difficult to check time in the night - the backlit is too faint. Overall, this is a good raffle prize for charity events but not for serious use.

This is great watch that you tend to use every day. The build quality and the design is up to mark. The solar charging is a plus and hardly comes below Hi. Only draw back I see is with respect to the date mode. Where date, month and sec is shown. Why does one want to see sec in date mode I am not sure and in certain glances you mistake sec to be date. Otherwise it is a fine watch and great comfort to wear. Please note I am not a big fan of wearing fat huge watch and this does not fall in that category. Overall a great buy!
